Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I am looking gear primarily for touring. Although racing gears are in my list for later. Helmet, gloves and jackets are really important for me. Anything above is bonus. I don't want to compromise quality in this. I don't give importance to brand but quality is important.Originally posted by mechnizmo View Post

You can consider helmets from the LS2 FF352 range. They are sharp 4 rated and provide adequate safety and functionality. For jackets, look at the ones from The Breed Crew or Rynox. They have Knox rated armour and abrasion resistance. I personally use the Rynox Tornado Pro and have found it to be safe and comfortable for urban as well as tour rides. Boots from Orazo are fine for light touring. If you have someone who can source / ship it from US, try the AStar MX series. I use them regularly and they come highly recommended.Originally posted by $Cj View PostI am looking gear primarily for touring. Although racing gears are in my list for later. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I do recall this happening on a few instances on my friends Dominar. The service guy mentioned this was normal and temporary while the engine cools off. Logically, it does sound odd though. If the engine is hot and needs the radiator to cool it down, the RPM does not need an increase. Quite the opposite actually.Originally posted by I Ride Alone View PostDoes the idle RPM increase to 2000 when the radiator is on?
I don't recall noticing it earlier.

The coolant impeller speed is related to the engine rpm, might be the ecu is trying to push more coolant faster through the system to cool it down faster. As increase in rpm makes the impeller rotate faster. Just an guess though.Originally posted by mechnizmo View PostI do recall this happening on a few instances on my friends Dominar. Yes. That could be the case. Monitor coolant levels. If you see an unusual drop, you know what's happening.Originally posted by BikerKid View PostThe coolant impeller speed is related to the engine rpm, might be the ecu is trying to push more coolant faster through the system to cool it down faster. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I read somewhere in this thread that a user had scanned the user manual of Dominar. Could I get a copy? The dealer said I'll get mine after permanent registration, and I need to read the manual to clear some doubts.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!My first bike, Dominar!

Just regular pdi is enough.Originally posted by Vamshi2007 View PostI paid for my new dominar 400 today and delivery is on July 1st
Anything i should know about or look into before i take delivery?
This is my first bike and i never owned a bike before
Check all electricals like head light, all beams, indicators, horn, lear about the display and get the time adjustment done.
Check clutch and break lever for play around 2 to 3mm these should not be rock tight, feel both wheel rims , and disk by hand to check any nicks and dents.
Check the visible wires, get the battery voltage checked, leave the bike at idle for 10mins to check the radiator fan working.
Check the coolant level should be in the mid mark.
Turn the handle lock to lock and make sure it wont touch the tank.
Check the rear seat locking mechanism, also check the tool kit and first aid kit should be under the pillion seat.
Have a small test run and feel everything is fine or not, the first gear slots with a thud and it is normal.
Gear would feel hard initially and would get better with usage.
Also check the paint surface with ur cellphone light. Check the panel gaps compare with other bikes.
Take it easy while riding as it is ur first bike.
Rest my good wishes and congrats.

Thanks for your suggestion. How about MT revenge or sol mental man or hjc CL -17 helmetOriginally posted by mechnizmo View PostYou can consider helmets from the LS2 FF352 range. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I have hjc FG17 (Mamba) and CL17 that I sourced from the US. They do feel slightly heavier than the LS2. Remember, they are entry level helmets from HJC. They are however, absolutely amazing helmets in terms of comfort and safety. My gripe with them begins after 70kms of continuous usage. That's when I feel the weight. MT Revenge is alright. It's sharp rated too. The Revenge is the only sharp rated helmet from MT in India. That would be my second choice if I didn't like anything from the Spanish stables of MT and LS2. Honestly, Ive had a bad experience with SOL on one of my rides. I wouldn't recommend SOL. Metal Man is definitely lust worthy, but I haven't had a good experience with SOL. You can get one if you are willing to take that route. Personality I'd stay away from Zeus, SOL, THH, Vega or SMK.
