  • Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread

I have a Dominar 2019 UG, which is around 2 months (600 km) old. All of a sudden it has started making unusual buzzing/whining noise above 3500 RPM. The noise increase as the rpm is increases irrespective of the speed and it's not there at low rpm.
What could be the problem and how to get it fixed?

Is there any problem if the engine oil level is high than the normal level

If the noise is while moving than it may be
from chain...... Just get it cleaned n lubed from service center.

I always has this question too. Also afraid if the oil level is higher than normal, it may get back the old issue of oil+coolant mix, I'm not sure though on this.
          Anyone can clarify on this?

Irrespective of speed it's during high throttle in any gear(around ~4000 RPM and higher). Can it be due to something being loose or vibrating and resonating anywhere in the bike?

Not really. It might theoretically result in higher pressure than normal inside the crankcase leading to stress on the components. Just ask your mechanic to drain out the excess oil if you worry about it.

I'm having a similar problem, bike's making ticking noise from engine head and there are many videos on YT claming that most Dominar UG model are affected by this problem that after 700kms or 2k kms engine starts to maing that noise.

In caption he says they fixed it by changing engine head.

Seems like rocker arm or the camshaft sound. Report this to you service center and it will be replaced if needed.

Even my bike's engine was making ticking/knocking type of sound, they told it was because of play in timing chain tensioner. They replaced the part under warranty.

                      That solved it?

Service center guys can't understand my problem nor they could hear that sound, told me to wait and let that noise increase and then come back!

I reported a unusual sound from engine during 1st service. When I took back the bike after service, the sound changed to knocking type. I think they didn't even checked what I reported. Bajaj has created a nice premium product, but I feel that after sale service experience is not upto that level.
I left the bike in service center after a week. First they were going to check tappet/valves, but they found the play in chain tensioner. But I partially trust them :P.
As the part wasn't in stock, I took back the bike and rode it for around 2 week before replacing that part. In those 2 weeks, that sound was not coming from the engine.
But to be on safe side, as the part may be faulty I got it replaced.

Issue with the bajaj is they have manufactured a brilliant package as a whole in dominar but havent trained well their ASS department who mostly are unaware of issues faced by the owners.Either you get on their head to get the issues resolved or wait till they understand what they need to do in the first place.Rocker arm, coneset issues, tappet issues, bolts breakage, ecu updates are common things seen most of the service advisors unaware of.Hardly few of the service centres have rightly trained people for dominar.

Ticking is definitely due to valve clearance which needs re-adjustment.
Knocking sound is from the end of life timing chain and worn out timing chain guide/tensioner .

One of my friend told that our bikes 5 year\75000km engine warranty WIL NOT BE VOID
if we change our engine oil to the Aftr market one of same grade AFTER THREE FREE SERVICES.

is this information correct or will we void our bike engine warranty if we switch the oil to the aftermarket one during the WARRANTY PERIOD.

Yeah, According to the service manual the warranty will be void, but heard some SVCs in vytila are using motul 7100 by default.
