Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
According to me yes idle rpm effects fuel efficiency that is why the idle rpm mentioned in the owners manual is best to achieve maximum fuel efficiency.Originally posted by omkappoor999 View Postis there any relation between fuel efficiency and idle rpm
are they inversely porpotional to each other??
Lower the idle rpm higher the fuel efficiency because less fuel is consumed.

According to me fuel efficiency gets affected from idle rpm because the higher the rpm lower will be the fuel efficiency because more fuel is consumed at higher rpm's and less fuel is consumed at lower rpm's.Originally posted by omkappoor999 View Postis there any relation between fuel efficiency and idle rpm

This is based on my observations.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
AFAIK, Fuel efficiency not exactly rely on the idle rpm, rather on the air fuel mixture. In carb variant motorcycle, we can change this ratio but in fuel injection it is predetermined. Hence if you increase the idle rpm, only when you keep your motorcycle running and in stationary, the FE will slightly drop. But once you give acceleration, idle rpm wont come into play.Originally posted by revvharder View PostAccording to me fuel efficiency gets affected from idle rpm because the higher the rpm lower will be the fuel efficiency because more fuel is consumed at higher rpm's and less fuel is consumed at lower rpm's.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Anybody here who has moved from KTM Duke390 to Fz250??
If yes, would like to know their views on both the bikes!
In a dilemma between the two-new FZ250 and a BS3 D390 for nearly the same money.
Need a bike as daily run a about,two long trips a year,a keeper for 7-8years of usage-I am a 44year old non-alpha male,riding since last 28 years.
My choice of a high is acceleration so the disparate nature of the two bikes in contention.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
That bike may not be a used one. I read somewhere that some dealers who were unable to sell their stock of BS3 have registered their stock and selling them as used ones. U may be able to score some 20kms driven bike for used bike price.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View Postyou wish to keep for 7-8 yrs then why are you considering used bike?

But I suggest to get a new one BS3 as us people r already killing environment day by day but if we can afford we should keep environment in check.
As for between D390 & FZ25 to my 44y buddy, pick FZ25. For us mid age guys seating is one of the most important part as we aren't in our prime anymore. What I personally found that FZ seat and sitting stance is more comfortable than D390.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
If your usage involves a lot of b2b traffic and commuting , avoid the duke , if it's not much b2b traffic and more highways, duke is your best bet, Yamaha will probably have the smoother engine will definitely be more manageable heat wise than the duke, both are capable bikes , will do whatever they are designed for well, the duke is obviously much more of a exciting proposition but the fz seems more reliable just because of Yamaha , but depending on your usage pick the bike.Originally posted by keith_j_snyder2 View PostThat bike may not be a used one. Also depends on the location, u may find that not everyone can service a duke. Also the maintenance cost of D390 may be higher than FZ25.Originally posted by keith_j_snyder2 View PostThat bike may not be a used one. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
If you are talking about idle, then what ever is mentioned in manual, its best.Originally posted by Manu14 View PostPlease let me know which is the best/idle RPM for fz25 (Yamaha)
But, if you are talking about riding RPM, I found 4000-4500 RPM to be most relaxed and best for fuel efficiency.
Idle RPM is there to keep bike running i.e. minimum amount of Air/Fuel mixture sent so as to bike to run with out any accelerator inputs.
Partially true, higher idle will use up more fuel if you plan to to run the bike on idle.Originally posted by omkappoor999 View Postis there any relation between fuel efficiency and idle rpm

I had 390 and sold it last month and took FZ250. You can check my post in this thread to get more details on view of both bikes,Originally posted by zestbiker View PostAnybody here who has moved from KTM Duke390 to Fz250??

390 is excellent bike no doubt. Its feature rich and equally great at performance.
It is rough and demands respect. Power delivery is brutal if you are coming from smaller CC bikes.
I have used it in cuty almost 90% of its 47000 KMs in 3 1/2 years. It has been excellent work horse and also can eat up miles over weekend or long rides.
On other hand, FZ25 is no-nonsense bike. It doesnt have technology jingles. Simple FI unit and a Oil-cooler unit.
It is a relaxed motorcycle and can be ridden by a newbie (contrary to posts in this thread).
Refined motorcycle which will give you a pleasant riding experience and also will eat miles over weekend or long ride cruising at 90-100 kmph all day.
Me too being on higher side of 35 years, FZ is better option just for sake of its simplicity.2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme
