Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Checked with Tyre pressure way back, at 30psi back and rear. And the instrument cluster shows that I'm getting avg/L of 27-29. Lowest it has shown is 26.2kmL, highest 29.5kml(I really don't know how). I don't raise the throttle at sudden.Originally posted by kaustubh_vaze View PostEven my bike gives me 30 kmpl in the city and 34-35 on the highway. It can be attributed to my weight too.
Can you check tyre pressure and fuel quality? That could also give poor mileage.
Regarding mods - I have this in mind - For On/Off Road, buy a new tyre set like Michelin Sirac or MRF Meteor and mount it on a set of spoked wheels. Mount the stock sprocket on the spoked wheels. We will need additional front and rear disc rotors.
For pure On Road cruising use the stock alloy wheels and tyres with smaller rear sprockets (45T/44T) whichever works best. I am pretty sure the Torquey nature of the bike will be compromised for a better top end. The bike puts in all its power down at 8000 RPM. So I am not sure how it will behave. Maybe reach the redline faster and have a better top speed.
The wheels can be swapped depending on the use we want to put the bike to.
Also, I'm a very light guy, Just 55kg at around 5'9. I don't think there's any prob with fueling stations that I have gone to. The last thing to try is dry the bike, and then check the mileage.
About the sprocket change, would it atleast be able to reach 160km/h?Last edited by jass007; 09-24-2017, 07:46 AM.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Wait a minute. Haven't you checked the mileage from reserve to reserve? Instrument cluster is not accurate. Mine is always show 3kpl less than what i actually get. Again now that doesn't mean thats the difference with every fz. It may be a more difference but i can't really tell. The practice which i follow is: I use the Trip 2 for my FE purpose. When the last bar indicator starts to blink, i reset the Trip 2, then i get 10L and wait until the next blink.
I suggest you to reset your avg indicator while you are driving, not when standing. It will take some time to come to the nearest accurate. And get fuel in liters as i explained. Last but not least, best practice, open the spark plug and check color (chocolate/red color), it will tell the whole story.
With one teeth increase at front will give around 5kph of increase but gears will become taller. 160 is not possible as of now. It may touch that figure after the engine completes 10,000 kms.
Update:
One more point, don't get power/speed petrol those are for higher compression engines. Loss of power has been reported using that fuel. Eventually if there is a loss you would pull more throttle and the effect is on FE.Last edited by paul.1911; 09-24-2017, 09:07 AM.| SOL 68s | Rynox Tornado Pro | Rynox Advento | Cramster TRG2 | Scoyco MC20 | Hero 5 and SJ6 |

What is the average speed you ride?Originally posted by jass007 View PostChecked with Tyre pressure way back, at 30psi back and rear. And the instrument cluster shows that I'm getting avg/L of 27-29. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Average speed is not an issue brother. You can get 30kpl driving at 40-50 km/h and 45 kpl even at 90-100 km/h.Originally posted by Harrisoncool View PostWhat is the average speed you ride?
Its how you control your throttle. Even if you pull slowly still will give less FE, until it is closed slightly which makes the difference of +5 kmpl at same speed.| SOL 68s | Rynox Tornado Pro | Rynox Advento | Cramster TRG2 | Scoyco MC20 | Hero 5 and SJ6 |

I use the same reserve to reserve method(but i use Fuel trip meter as my reference point), and i am getting 35-36(850kms on odo) using Xtra Premium (i have read somewhere reliable that XP/Speed are not much of a high compression fuel, they are with more additives).
Ps- the next time i will try your method of getting the petrol in litres rather than of certain amount.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I am confused between fz25, gixxer sf abs, Duke 250. Please help me. Is the ktm worth the extra 60k you pay? Tell me your experiences with fz25, fuel economy, service? What should i do? Does fz25 handle well? Is it good enough for an 18year old college student? Also please add me in the WhatsApp group if any. I need suggestions. This will be my first bike. I don't want to regret later.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
If you have the money then duke 250 will be the better choice..but again you have to compromise on FE and maintenance cost should be higher compared to Fz. Fz handles very well. If u ride your bike mostly in city then i would definitely recomend fz coz fz felt much better on stop and go situation.. and duke 250 has a tendency to overheat on tat kind of situations... Any ways its all coms to your budget... Check the dominar also...Originally posted by Pradhyumn98 View PostI am confused between fz25, gixxer sf abs, Duke 250. Please help me. If you have a budget to extend then you can go for Duke 250.Originally posted by Gkn View PostIf you have the money then duke 250 will be the better choice..but again you have to compromise on FE and maintenance cost should be higher compared to Fz. Very linear power delivery and the refinement level and quality of KTM has improved very much in the Duke 250 not like the never compromising 390 and aggressive 200 ... It has torque and also happily revs
On the down side still the engine gets tend to heat much in the city
Overall FE is much lower than FZ
No ABS option.
FZ till the engine is not as refined as the R15 being a single overhead CAM it's stressed out more in the high revs.
But in stop and go traffic and light weight off the bike makes it very easy in the traffic and FE is great for a 250 cc bike also maintainance is on the lower side as well.
FZ has has a light flat spot from 4000 to 5000 and even Duke 250 has one such flat spot ..
If you want a practical bike with minimal maintainance go for FZ 250
If you want something better and you can compromise on FE and higher maintanance then go for Duke 250
Test ride and decide ..Yamaha RX100 (1993)
Yamaha RX135 (2000)
Bajaj Pulsar 150 (2004)
Yamaha FZ-25 (2017)
TVS N-Torq (2018)

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hey thanks for the reply. My only concern is, is 60k+ really worth it for the duke 25? It's not like I don't like the fz25. The only thing matters to me is money. I don't mind stretching my budget if it is really worth it. And I'm actually little short for d250, i couldn't reach my legs down. And my riding mostly will be in the city and considering the amount of traffic in mumbai, i think d250 will be heating like crazy. My weight is 60kgs. So I don't think dominar is an option for me as there will always be a pillion. I just don't want to regret my decision as this will be my first and last machine in india. I'll be going abroad in 3 years and the bike will be used by my dad later. So, what do you think guys? Fz25 or rs200 or d250. Please consider my weight and also the fact that a pillion will always be accompanying me. Thanks.Originally posted by Dinesh.P View PostIf you have a budget to extend then you can go for Duke 250.

If the bike will be used by your dad, I would suggest to go for FZ25 because of its lesser weight and simplicityOriginally posted by Pradhyumn98 View PostHey thanks for the reply. Depends on your requirement FZ is a good all-rounderOriginally posted by Pradhyumn98 View PostHey thanks for the reply. My only concern is, is 60k+ really worth it for the duke 25? You can use it in city and occasional highway rides it doesn't disappoint when the speed is below 120 ..
Liquid cool engine
Decent cruising speed over FZ
Distinguished looks
I had the same confusion but considering the easy maintainance and all round character made me to choose FZ over Duke
