I don't mind stretching my budget if it is really worth it. And I'm actually little short for d250, i couldn't reach my legs down. And my riding mostly will be in the city and considering the amount of traffic in mumbai, i think d250 will be heating like crazy. My weight is 60kgs. So I don't think dominar is an option for me as there will always be a pillion. I just don't want to regret my decision as this will be my first and last machine in india. I'll be going abroad in 3 years and the bike will be used by my dad later. So, what do you think guys? Fz25 or rs200 or d250. Please consider my weight and also the fact that a pillion will always be accompanying me. Thanks.
Considering your age, your requirment and the post usage, i would suggest you to choose 150cc bikes. 250 cc bikes especially Duke and FZ25 has more torque, which may become fatal for first time bikers. Since you are going abroad, i would recommend to choose any 150 cc bikes in the market, that will also go easy on your dad post your usage. If you are still adamant of 250cc, then FZ25 should do. It is torquey, but it goes bit easy on first timers..

Also, I'm a very light guy, Just 55kg at around 5'9. I don't think there's any prob with fueling stations that I have gone to. The last thing to try is dry the bike, and then check the mileage.

Regarding mileage, I suggest you meet the servcie station guys and explain and have them check.

About the sprocket change, would it atleast be able to reach 160km/h?
160 kmph is a piped dream unless u go berserk with your modifications. PD were the only ones to manage 143 kmph. No one else is going beyond 137-138. With a sprocket change of 1 tooth, you add 5 kmpl. What you can do is, add 1 tooth up front and reduce 1 tooth from the rear. So you get +1/-1 which is a difference of 2 teeth.

        Try it and see.

Guys, I completed 500Kms yesterday. I am genuinely impressed by the Fz25. I have been lucky enough to not have the problems many members are facing. I do not have the coin rattling sound, I do not have the Tappet sound, no vibrations from the engine, no paint chipping anywhere.

The only small niggle I have is the rattling of the headlamp assembly, even in a good road you can see the light rattling. I checked the nuts holding the headlamp assembly and it seems properly tightened. I haven't tightened it more cause I don't know the torque specs and don't want to break it. For now, I can live with it.

I got around 37KmpL the last filling. I did from reserve to full and topped up after 389Kms and it ate only 10.1 ltr. I would have waited till reserve but there were few days of public holidays and didn't want to be low on fuel. But the good news is it would be able to give around 35-37 any day. I also want to add that I ride in the city.

Overall, I'm pleased with the bike. I also added a tank pad, my jacket was scratching the matt paint. Did some stickering aswell on the rims and forks.

          Robb.

You can install AUX, but make sure that those are easily removable and you dont cut wires.
Warranty may void if you take it to SVC with aux.

I will be installing aux that I already have after 5000 km service. Just 200 more to go.

Does fz25 handle well? Is it good enough for an 18year old college student? Also please add me in the WhatsApp group if any. I need suggestions. This will be my first bike. I don't want to regret later.

Basically depends on where you tend to use it more.
If City, eyes closed you can go for FZ25. Not that it is bad on Highways, but you will miss 6th gear and couple of horses.

Dont consider Dominar, its little bit pain in city rides.

FZ25 and Duke 250 can be in different class if price is considered. If money was priority for me, FZ25 will be wise choice.

It's almost 1500 kms now. Done with my first service at 730 kms. Changes observed till now post servicing:

              1. Vibration above 70kmph or above 5k rpm: Service guys told me I need to give more time to my bike for freeing up the engine
              2. With pillion rider the bike tends to fishtail post 65/70kmph.
              3. Ride gets bumpier post 4k rpm.
              4. Added little foam to seat and put on a new cover but still it looks like riding for more than half an hour my bum wants to get off the saddle same is with pillion rider. Now it looks like I need to go for a complete overhaul.
              5. Tappet setting needs to be done. It sounds pretty badly post 4k rpm. I will get it done at service center.
              6. Mirror is too bad to my liking and practicality , so switched on to TB350 rear view mirrors.
              7. Horn is too puny to be used in highways. So will change to Roots.
              8. Regarding Engine oil I guess the SC folks did a top up only though the vibes came down a little post servicing as earlier it used to come up after 60kmph only.

I was planning to get rid of tire hugger (mudguard). So went to SC for washing , suspension adjustment and handle bar adjustment. So there I asked the SC guy to take off the tire hugger. TO my surprise I found one nut is broken and the inner pipe is broken too. He told me that this must have happen due to some accident or some one might have knocked me off from back. I said impossible as in that case there must have been some marks which is not there. The service center owner told me that it looks like some one tried to cut off the pipe, as it can't break with such symmetry. However he told me he will talk to the company to get it replaced if not he will get the rod welded for me. I am wondering now is it like Yamaha didn't put enough attention to the quality for FZ25 or it is my bad luck.

Most of the time the problem is with the filling station, they would never fill accurate if you ask them in rupees. I heard they choke off 100ml in every liter. Instead, I ask them to fill in liters and i experience better FE. I get 10L all the time and I get 45kpl (I pay with card). At two instances they heard something else and filled partly in rupee & then in liters, and i got less FE.

My recommendation: Try changing fuel station and get in liters. Don't pull throttle rigorously and use real time avg indicator to train yourself on perfect throttle usage. You can also use fuel additive like System-G, this help clearing carbon deposit from valves and sensors, and some increase in FE have been reported. 1ml is used for every liter. Not to be use everytime, i use once a month.
If they shave off 100ml off every liter then I don't think filling in litres is gonna solve the problem either. IMO Best way to check FE is full tank to reserve method. That way u gonna know if they are shaving off any fuel.

Hey bro, please get your caliper checked for pressure. I ride in pretty steep slopes with a pillion, and the rear brake itself is totally sufficient.

Finished 280km and the bike had become progressively rougher.

                    1. I have no clue why. I've also stated hearing a distinct tapping sound, but this isn't consistent and varies by rpm. Sometimes it's pronounced, sometimes it's not and the engine sounds beautiful.

I have no clue what's causing it.

                    2. The gearshift has started getting more annoying with at least 3 instances a day where the shift goes into a free play mode as if it has not hooked into the gear notch.. meaning I am hesitant to release the clutch because moving the shifter doesn't get it to engage any gear!

                    3. The failure to switch on issue still continues.. it most likely appears to be a faulty instrument cluster or a loose contact on the key switch..

I have no clue what's causing it. ---- Tappet adjustment will help you stopping this noise. Most of the FZ's have it. Mine too facing the same problem.

                      2. 3. The failure to switch on issue still continues.. it most likely appears to be a faulty instrument cluster or a loose contact on the key switch..----- Check with SC immediately. In case of faulty cluster you can have it changed under warranty
I hope it will help you solve the issues.

There should be no issues if you want to do it. The Chinese kits are compatible with any 12v bike electricals iirc.

For the Hyper flashing indicator issue when using led's I believe you'll need to increase the resistance on the circuit

I wonder if Yamaha is taking any note of these. More worrying is if we can expect any relief by means of part upgrades or service updates etc.

I hate to think I'm having these thoughts after investing 1.38L on a bike that I expected to serve me at least 5 years..

Trying not to let these issues get to me because once I get frustrated with them.. it will mean the bike will have to go
