Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
My bike has just crossed 1300 kms so no hard revving yet but I have ridden a friend's bike and it is very smooth. Every single cylinder bike will have some vibrations but trust me fz25 is one of smoothest bike. I'm talking about dominar, dukes and rcs'. It's definitely smoother than them.Originally posted by ramdante View PostAh yes, my odo's at around 9K and I have noticed the same as well. The engine is very smooth under sedate riding conditions (Rpm kept below 5k), which is quite nice and relaxing to ride. By the way, how is your bike behaving when pushing it hard to 7-8k Rpm, does it get vibey (under the seat/tank, handlebars)?
I installed the masseter on the day one right out of the showroom. Go 4-5 pages back for pictures. It is one of the best street tyre available and trust me I do know a thing about tyres. The masseter is the best mrf tyre I have ever used. Easily a 9/10 for the street use. It's noiseless, sticks like a leach, phenomenal wet and corner grip and the best part is much shorter and safer braking distance. As far as front is concerned, it's a good tyre, I'll vouch for that. I haven't pushed my bike yet but I have ridden an R15 on a tour to nainital for almost a hundred kilometers. It never disappointed me as it's a soft compound tyre. But if you are not satisfied with it, go with pirelli speed demons or the holy grail of grip Metzler. The former is an excellent semi-soft compound tyre that will provide a great balance between grip and tyre life whereas the former will be probably the best tyre in terms of grips but has a quite short life. Choose accordingly.Originally posted by ramdante View PostI somehow don't like the stock tyres at all, as they are very unpredictable, and slips even with a light spread of sand on the roads. Even the 200NS' Euroslips, used to fare better under these conditions. The next change will be the revz FC1s and the massetter, hopefully they'll be good.
From what I have heard, shell provides excellent engine oils. Although motul is the best in my book but I'd suggest you to get ahead and try the AX7.Originally posted by ramdante View PostThinking of going for the Shell AX7 during the 3rd service, FS oils are a bit of a overkill for my usage. Does anyone have any experience with the AX7?
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
If I recall correctly, the bike gulps in 1450 ml of oil at max. Motul 7100 1.5 litres cost a ~1000 only which is a good price for a fully synthetic engine oil. It'll also last longer than Yamaha lube. But it's your call. Glad to see Yamaha lube getting positive feedback.Originally posted by Kirankarunan View PostThanks for the reply. The rear brake is fine. My incorrect usage was causing wear. Still came to 10000km. Yes I am happy with both tires. I always ride single and within city limits.
Regarding the oil. Currently cost 676 mrp for 1.6 litres. The motul would be much more. It might be better but I have this thing with following specifications. So if it's good enough for Yamaha good enough for me :-) just my view.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I bought FZ25 in December last year, from one sub-dealer in Coimbatore(Dheerans Bikes) and 2 months down the line, it has been more of a mixed response for me. And mostly that's due to the worst service support I'm getting and partly due to hard luck. First problem started off with the bike that I got, being the one that was on showroom display, which on day of booking they told is not going to be the one but I ended up getting it on day of delivery. I am also to be blamed since I didn't insist on proper PDI (heck, they don't even know there is a checklist inside owner's /service manual).I made an issue then and there but they told it's fine and other ususal excuses, and I gave in at last. Thereafter it has been a topsy-turvy ride for me, with the bike giving me the thrills every single time I take it out for a ride, and other times, some serious issues plaguing it. Starting off, there were signs of rust on some nut near the front brake fuel reservoir side and also other minor ones in the swingarm on hard to notice places. I gave it back the same day of delivery to the showroom and they kept it there for 2 more days, saying they are still in discussion with main dealer (Season Motors) in Coimbatore. I had to create a big issue for them to finally resolve the issue but it took them another week. Even then, only the nut issue was sorted and the others seemed rather too small to be fighting it out with them and so I left it. But then, the showroom guys themselves told me that both of the side covers (battery and other side) were also broken and they will replace it as soon as parts are available. I had never noticed this earlier and I still believe that they did something during the maintenance that caused this and was not already there when I took delivery. I again took their word for it and started waiting for it to come. That took 2 months, with me escalating the issue with Yamaha, and fighting with Yamaha customer care guys to get a complaint number, me and my friends checking on showroom guys every now and then and finally got it two days back, and once I gave the bike for replacing the parts, they suddenly come up to me saying that both side covers they got were for the same side.
Again a ruckus there, and many more assurances after, I came back. And now here I was cleaning my bike and suddenly noticed some rusting, this time more serious on the silencer side, swingarm side(different area) and one place inside front panel assembly(pics attached). I started looking up and researching a bit and that is when I noticed that the manufacturing month mentioned in the RC book and the one I figured out from VIN code with a service manual posted here some weeks back were different (September 2017 instead of June).
I called up Yamaha but they are saying that these VIN code details cannot be shared with the customer and added that my source for the information was not accountable(I told them I got the info from a friend of mine working in Yamaha service). I have not taken this up with the dealer but the rust-issue was informed, and I'm waiting for them to proceed with Yamaha. I'm thinking of taking up the whole fiasco to a Consumer Court, I don't know how and when, but I wanted to know you guys' opinion on the same. And I also wanted other fellow prospective customers to be wary of such issues-thus this long a post and yeah, thanks for reading through it.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi I can't recollect too well. If it's very open road 110 is not stressed. I don't think it's very happy being raced all the time. It does it but the wind blast tires me. I am happy around 75 to 95 mostly. Can't go faster for long on my daily routes. Mileage also drops.Originally posted by JyotishmanS View PostI have handled the bike as Yamaha has instructed. Now, referring to a fellow forum member's post, it has been mentioned that the engine feels stressed post 100kph after his second service. Did you face something similar?

I ride at 85 to 110 on highways but for cruising I stick to 85 to 95 which is the sweet spot in my experience, also gives good mileage . Over 100, mileage drops drastically.
For me , the foot-peg vibration starts at 70kmph. I am trying to resolve it with a rubber padding on brake lever.. FYI . my ODO is 5400...
Planning to change oil to Motul on next service.
One more thing I have noticed is that my bikes underbelly scrapes going over medium size speed breakers.I weigh 93Kg and pillion weigh 65Kg.Is this really an issue or the ground clearance is poor for this bike??

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Season motors coimbatore is a big time guy in creating such ruckus. Please go back some pages and see my side of story that i experienced in season motors. Such a well established brand like yamaha which is known for its quality products must have concentrated on the quality control. FZ 25 has its own set of quality issues dont know when will this be sorted.Originally posted by badasskalikkaaran View PostI bought FZ25 in December last year, from one sub-dealer in Coimbatore(Dheerans Bikes) and 2 months down the line, it has been more of a mixed response for me. Seriously messed up, I think I am. Yeah, Season Motors is the main dealer though I bought the bike from a sub-dealer Dheerans Bike. BTW, what's your opinion on taking this to Consumer court? Wrongly mentioned RC book info should be a good point there. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
It's indeed sad to know that Yamaha's quality is taking a turn for the worse. I personally believe Yamaha's quality has taken a backseat turn when their V 2.0 R15 was launched. It's not to say that, they're completely hopeless, it's just that they're not willing to take heed to what the customers have to offer, or at least in a proactive manner. Yamaha's Customer Service is nothing but a farce.Originally posted by badasskalikkaaran View PostSeriously messed up, I think I am. Regarding taking the issue to consumer court, I'd suggest you give them a stern warning of the intent that you have, first to the main dealer and the subdealer and an official mail along with a follow up to Yamaha customer service. If possible document your conversations, mails et cetera, definitely would come in handy in case of a consumer dispute.
It's ridiculous for Yamaha to say, we as a customer don't have an accountable information with regard to VIN number or the intent to decipher the VIN number as a customer.
Well, you can show this them now.

Thank a ton B7ACKTHORN for the valuable advice. I was also thinking of proceeding the same way. Earlier I was not so keen with taking this up, since I was already fed up arguing with these guys, including the Yamaha Customer Support guys. But I think its high time I step things up a notch and take a firm hold of the situation, and sure do hope fellow riders like you will be there for support.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostIt's indeed sad to know that Yamaha's quality is taking a turn for the worse. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Just did a 120 kms run today. Didn't cross 6k rpms as it's still under running in period. Got roughly 40 kmpl. No tappet noise till now. Seat comfort was decent too. Only downside is the weak rear brake. I understand a sharper brake would result in fishtailing but still it could be better. Overall, an excellent bike.

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences bro. I'd also suggest you to take the matter into your hands. Warn them that you will take this to the court if they don't rectify your problems.Originally posted by badasskalikkaaran View PostThank a ton B7ACKTHORN for the valuable advice. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
A short update on 3rd Service + 10000 Km.
There were no specific problems with the bike, so the service was simple 1-hour job including the wash.
1.5 Ltr engine oil, oil filter, air filter and spark plug (both of these were changed based on my request). Bill was around Rs 1300/-. They were charging Rs 150 for chain lube which I said not required as I do it myself at home.
I don't have a very high expectation with Yamaha ASC, but still, I told them about minor rust at center stand area. the silly reason they gave is that it's because of heat. I did not want to jump into muddy slush with them so just ignored and will handle it myself.
After thorough wash (which was good but not cleaned with dry cloth properly), they did the oil and other parts changed. Chain slack was adjusted as I told about the gearshift hardness.
Service was pretty simple and the bike was as good as new. They still lubed the chain without charging me, but they applied generous amount which made rear alloy and wheel horrible. Have to get it pressure washed later.
Ownership experience @ 10000 km:
Happy experience. Sold my 390 Duke and got this as it suited for my daily needs, especially my 60 km commute.
Mileage has been consistent 41 kmpl since 2nd service was done.
I raised my point on the quality of plastic panels in my earlier posts, mostly the loose fitting of them. specifically the side panels. The top portion of the tank is prone to scratches. A nice vinyl wrap will do the job.
Tappet sound is there after engine runs hot or heavy riding. but I am not worried about it.
Low beam of the headlamp is good enough for the city, but high beam is mostly useless.
Tires have been satisfactory and help in the comfortable ride because of the taller sidewall. However, will shift to Metzlers once these are worn out. Both have more than 60% of life left in them still and expect them to last above 22000 km.
Brakes have been good and have helped me in some scary situations (locked front twice). Both pads have more than 70% life left.
Both Rider and pillion comfort have been the best of all the bikes I have ridden till now.
Planned Modifications:
1. Auxillary lamps
2. Red Carbon Fiber Vinyl wrap on the top and lower side of the tank.
3. Louder Horns
All above are already there with me and just waiting for a complete day for myself.
