Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I have the same issue. Have given the bike for second service today with odo 5005. I told the mechanic to Rev the bike till 5k rpm in idle and he noticed the bike's handlebar vibrate with tappet noise. The mechanic told he has not seen such issue in other fz25s. Don't know if svc can rectify. Will let you know after I get the bike. Will shoot mail to Yamaha if issue is not fixed. Have no other good SVC in Mysore.Originally posted by JyotishmanS View Post

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
hello guys, need some inputs from long term owner of this bike.
1. is this bike really as smooth as fz16 ? even upto 100-110kmh ? any vibrations ?
2. any huge issues so far ?
3. i have heard about there's some weird tappet noise in this bike. is it present on every fz25 ? and how bad it is if you are always wearing a helmet( like ls2,mt)
4. how is headlight ? really bad or average like other bikes ?
5. anything else noteworthy ( small issues ) you guys like to point out.
i have shortlisted 2 bikes , rtr2004v, and fz25. been using a 125cc bajaj bike for last 8 years. and want to upgrade to something powerful for highway/touring purpose. although 100-110kmh is enough for me i don't need more because i fear i'll loose control. no vibration is the most important feature for me. current bike vibrates like hell past 45kph. and i don't want another bajaj again. thanks.Fz25 2018 (ABS retrofitted)

Well thanks for the revert. I don't have handlebar vibrations. My vibrations are on the left footpeg and right mirror. And yes, do revert post your servicing.Originally posted by Shamanth Gowda View PostI have the same issue. Have given the bike for second service today with odo 5005. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
As of now, at 4300 kms, i must say the bike's brilliant. The speed range you're talking about is beautiful on open highways for constant runs of above 30 minutes. I don't think you'll be able to cruise as such at those speeds on an rtr though that itself is a majestic bike. And yes, abstain from Bajaj. Haha!Originally posted by slopegatri View Posthello guys, need some inputs from long term owner of this bike.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Well after the service the vibration at 5k rpm is reduced to 50 percent. Now there is just buzz but have to see how this holds up for another 100 km. Only then it'll be permanent fix. Hopefully it'll be only a buzz which I can live with. Anyways I'll switch to motul 7100 at 7k km and share my experience after that.

No Idea about fz16, but yes this bike is butter smooth; except some owners who are facing vibrations in certain speed range and fortunately I'm not one of them.
I won't recommend a constant ride above 100 as the smoothness decreases by a level post 100 and also the fuel economy drops drastically. I love to ride till 110 but crusing at 95-100 and it churns out 38-40 km/l. But considering past experiences if I ride above 100 (including harsh acceleration and few kms at top speed for multiple times) I had got 31km/l.
2. any huge issues so far ?
Rear brakes are dull, but I always use combined or front brakes, so that is not an issue for me!
3. i have heard about there's some weird tappet noise in this bike. is it present on every fz25 ? and how bad it is if you are always wearing a helmet( like ls2,mt)
I've completed 3500 on ODO and now I started hearing that noise, but only if riding without helmet(which I don't prefer at all, but did it for trial). But, I can't find it while wearing my steelbird Adonis (it is worst noise insulation though)...so if you are using ls2 or mt, then this noise won't be an issue for you.
4. how is headlight ? really bad or average like other bikes ?
It is BAD!
First problem is the white color, which disperses in fog, rains and even if combined with yellow halogen lights (I can't see the beam when someone comes from opposite side)
Second problem is intensity of LEDs. Only color wouldn't have been a problem if it had the brightness even slightly close to Dominar...but unfortunately it lacks it
SO IF YOU'RE SHIFTING FROM A CONVENTIONAL HALOGEN, LIKE ME; YOU'LL TAKE FEW DAYS TO ADJUST WITH IT. ADDITION OF FOG LAMP MIGHT SOLVE THE PROBLEM (I HAVEN'T INSTALLED ANY)
5. anything else noteworthy ( small issues ) you guys like to point out.
NOTHING ELSE!! I AM COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH OVERALL PACKAGE <3
Riding is not just a skill, it's an attitude

thanks for detailed feedback.Originally posted by raahul11 View PostAnswers are in bold
i won't be riding at 100-110 but if i do i don't want any vibrations that's why i asked. i'm very calm rider mostly drive 35-45kph in city and according to road/ traffic conditions. so i guess it will give 35+ mileage to me. now the headlight. i think i'll be installing aux lights anyway so not really huge issue for me. i'm just waiting till April now cuz fz25 probably will get ABS around that time, if it doesn't i'll get RTR instead. both bikes are really close to what my requirements are.Fz25 2018 (ABS retrofitted)

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I think we will have to wait till 2019 for the ABS version because as far as I know ABS will be compulsory for any new launches from April 2018 and the existing models have the dead line till 2019 to get ABS, I may be wrong as well.Originally posted by slopegatri View Postthanks for detailed feedback.

1- Yes. It's very smooth and reliable japanese engine with loads of torque. You can surely cruise at ~100 kmph all day long. Although the sweet spot is between 85-95 IMHO.Originally posted by slopegatri View Posthello guys, need some inputs from long term owner of this bike.

2- None. It's a no nonsense Japanese machine. Fill it, shut it, forget it.
3- The tappet noise is much improved in the newer batches. Also, it's not an issue to begin with.
4- Mine is above average AFTER LEVELING. In the city, I don't feel the need for additional lighting. In smog, every 6000k lighting is useless. I have driven the 2017 fortuner in smog and even it was pathetic. Old school 2500k-3500k yellow lights are the only ones that work well in smog. Although, I'd suggest you to avoid driving in thick smog at every cost. As far as highway riding goes, no stock bike light is powerful enough against those huge bus/truck lights. Auxiliary lights are a must.
5- Overall the bike is incredibly fun and yet easy to live with at the same time.
Only con I can think of is the lack of a sixth gear. Even though the fifth gear is very tall, I think it would have been better if it came with a sixth gear.
On rtr, I absolutely love the rtr line. My first bike was a 180. I have ridden the 200fi and I feel that it's very good bike. Smooth, sharp handler, strong headlight throw and a nice console too. But it simply lacks the raw grunt of the fz25. I'm not telling you to choose fz25 over rtr, just sharing my thoughts. Coming from a 125cc, you'd be delighted with either of them.

Edit: Braking. Fz25 has sufficient stopping power. I changed the stock tyre right out of the showroom to an excellent mrf masseter and even under hard braking, no fishtailing. The braking is very well adjusted on the fz25 and is definitely not a deal breaker by any chance. I'd suggest you to change the stock tyre to a better one and you'll be happy with the brakes.

My point too. I'm going for the pirellis once i cross 10000 kms on the stock tyres.Originally posted by Amrit.Singh View Post1- Yes. It's very smooth and reliable japanese engine with loads of torque. You can surely cruise at ~100 kmph all day long. Although the sweet spot is between 85-95 IMHO.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Yes go ahead. But go for the sport demons instead of dragons or the rossos. Demons are excellent tyres with enough strength to withstand abuse unlike other pirelli tyres which are very soft for our bad roads.Originally posted by JyotishmanS View PostMy point too.
