Anyone changed Engine oil on their first servicing (or later), and is Yamaha engine oil good to go with?
My first servicing is due in few days, i am thinking to go for Motul/Shell(iff Yamaha oil is not upto the mark)

Why motul why not sticking with yamalube they do make good oil. They are using their own make oil in their race bikes too.
Don't understand this obsession with all things motul, there are better options then it, like shell, liquy moli, castrol, total, mobile 1.
And it is not brand specific it is with every bike a owner, he can trust and spend his or her money to buy the bike but cannot trust or like the stuff they use at service.
            Same happening every where.
Yamalube is no less then any thing else sold in the market.
Same goes for The stuff bajaj using for My D400 the bajaj oil is made by Total and it is no less then motul.

Please do not get offended just couldn't control the urge to write my thoughts.

But for yamaha first it was petronas and then motul and now some tidal water plant is manufacturing oil.
If it was the first two i would have supported Yamalube

              For your information
Yamaha motogp factory team is using Eneos oil
Yamaha Tech 3 racing is using Motul as factory oil.

Bajaj oil is way better when Total took it over.

Its not obsession its the observation what we made the viscosity of yamalube is less when compared to motul
And i am not a person to talk just with obsession as i am using yamalube from my 2 stroke days.

Yes there are better brand but for this grade and quality Motul 7100 is the best you can get in India.

I don't have an issue using Yamalube, but i have zero prior experience with it that's why I am looking for feedback. In the end, we all want our bikes to perform at its best.
And you are somewhat correct with riders' obsession with Motul, be it engine oil or chain lube or anything else. I am using Rolon chain lube and it's performing absolutely fine.

Problem with the Yamalube, you cannot feel the difference until it was 2000km old, after then the engine gets harsh sound when heated up & also gear shifting becomes notchy. Certainly after 2500km you are spending (450/-*1.45L+167/-)=819.5/-, i.e. Rs. 0.3278/km with Yamalube.
But, if you use very good synthetic engine oil like motul 300v 10w40, you will never come back to yamalube, because motul 300v is very smooth, makes no harsh sound & aids very smooth shifting. Plus, added advantage of paying less, (1150/-*1.45L+167/-)=1834.5/- for 6000km drain interval, it will cost Rs. 0.30575/km.
So, motul is better in terms of quality as well as price-vs-km.
But, haven't tried motul 7100/shell advance ultra/mobil 1 racing 4t, but if you use either of them, anything will cost less price-vs-km taking 5000km drain interval.
                  Regards

yamaha oil is upto mark. there are better alternatives available but yamaha would be good enough.

if you can convince service center to use motul then fine. otherwise get it done with yamalube.

No need to consider other fancy oils.

If you can use same grade then its fine, But SVC will not allow other oils to be used unless your bike is our of warranty or you have close rapport with them.

                          Thankyou everyone for the feedback.
It seems Yamalube is good to go (at least for ~2500kms), and if there are issues post 2500, then one can always switch to something else.

SC guys have no clue about it. But is it really possible to change the sprocket or any other part and gain higher top end?
Even my bike gives me 30 kmpl in the city and 34-35 on the highway. It can be attributed to my weight too.
Can you check tyre pressure and fuel quality? That could also give poor mileage.

Regarding mods - I have this in mind - For On/Off Road, buy a new tyre set like Michelin Sirac or MRF Meteor and mount it on a set of spoked wheels. Mount the stock sprocket on the spoked wheels. We will need additional front and rear disc rotors.

For pure On Road cruising use the stock alloy wheels and tyres with smaller rear sprockets (45T/44T) whichever works best. I am pretty sure the Torquey nature of the bike will be compromised for a better top end. The bike puts in all its power down at 8000 RPM. So I am not sure how it will behave. Maybe reach the redline faster and have a better top speed.

The wheels can be swapped depending on the use we want to put the bike to.

From my observation using chain lube every 500 km increases mileage.i used to put chain lube when my avg shows below 35.also check tyre pressure lowest pressure may decrease couple of kmpl
