Going by the ownership experiences shared here, most of the issues of this bike are resolved post 1st servicing, and the bike tends to get smoother as the odo increases.
This bike has certain set of issues that almost everyone of us here have faced and new owners are still facing(including me). And almost everyone reported the improvement of machine with the passing of time and distance.

Hope we all FZ25 owners ride together someday.

Installed these mesh type seat cover (Rs.150 for one seat). At first, i was very skeptical about them, as they weren't kind of appealing but after using them for a while, i find them very purposeful.

      My experience:
      1. Seat doesn't heat up even when parked in scorching heat
2.Air keeps circulating through it(thanks to mesh) keeping your bum sweat free and cool.
3.Water flows off the seat easily.

The only trouble is if you have cats around your place... They just can't resist such mesh covers

Better the mesh than the original seat
And i think cat just can't resist any seats.

Hello guys, I am a frequenter who sees more and talks less but, it's probably going to change now that I have booked one for myself after a fulfilling test ride.

I could use some help from you guys on what I should check for while taking the delivery particularly for the Fz25.

P.S. Here in Kolkata the OTR is 1.41 Lakhs and the extended warranty was quoted at 770 bucks while the seat cover is an extra 425 bucks and so is the crash guard at 990 bucks.
So, should I opt for original Seat covers or get aftermarkets, also is the crash guard functional?

If you try yo pamper your fz25 then she will hurt you...use good quality helmet which snuggly fit n filters some sound, ride hard and focus on exhaust note..its not 1500cc silent engine or super smooth liq cooled cbr..its raw "air cooled" 250cc high torque engine which will produce some noises...valve terrain settings are by default on loose side for better heat dissipation which produces sound..and it has dual valve spring which is another reason for more rattle sound..but system is very solid and reliable.

Its not a solution bro, i m not satisfied with your thinking..

So didnt you tell them to change the fi system....

Till now i dont think so but in future maybe this will surely let the engine performance down...
What do you mean by changing the FI system?

141900 in Mumbai which includes the bike plus crash guard, parking cover, basic helmet and the extended warranty on the engine.

The crash guard to its minimal at best but no harm going for it from them directly. You can avoid getting their seat covers and just go with aftermarket stuff

It shows 35 on the instrument cluster , but when I did the math I got 38.7 and this is after 2.6k kms . So it's not that bad . Trust me I got shocked when I saw her video , but over all its a good machine you won't really miss the mileage even of it does drop though.

You can skip on the seat covers if you want or opt for an after market one but get the crash guard . It saved my bike from a whole lot of scratches . Trust me it's worth it . Best part ita made like so that it doesn't easily bend on simple crashes .

Will you kindly post the bill of the leg guard. Yamaha dealers in Patna are charging way too much. One of the Dealers is charging 1200 and the other one is charging 1500( although both are giving discounts of almost 40%).

                            Hi Folks,
Just a small review. I have ridden the white FZ25 for around 1100 Kms.
                            The good part:
                            1. Oodles of torque
                            2. Good acceleration still 110 Kmph
                            3. Good for city and highways
                            4. It can cruise at 100 kmph without breaking a sweat and has more in reserve for those spirited runs
                            5. Mileage around 33-34 kmpl

                            The not so good:
                            1. Rear tyre hugger has little purpose but cant imagine what would happen without it in the rains
                            2. Flimsy tail end
                            3. Headlights

My bike does have that rattling tappet sound. But it is more when you have bad quality fuel. The bike runs like a dream with Speed/Xtra Premium.
I showed it to an independent mechanic and after riding, he said that maybe Yamaha have kept the tappet setting a bit loose to counter the expansion due to engine heating up. Apart from that I don't see any issues. As someone said, get the setting adjusted after 2000 kms.

People are out trying to dismiss the bike. But mind you, when I rode a friend's brand new KTM 390 (pre-April 2017) and FZ25 back to back, you get to appreciate the humble, no fuss nature of the engine. The KTM does rattle a lot when compared to the FZ. The power deliver of the FZ25 is smooth and linear and doesn't make u uncomfortable. The handling is precise and the bike brakes and stops effortlessly. You can reign it in just with a snap! Its a point and shoot camera from Yamaha!! You can lean, you can race, you can tour. It just does all of it that you want it to.

I also found a very good use for the grab rails. I can actually hang a heavy carry bag/bag on the grab rail and they dont fall due to the design.

All in all, I feel its a very good bike for the money you put in. Its a cute Japani Gudiya!!

                            Regards,

I heard about the fz25 having 1.5L of reserve fuel, but how does one access that 1.5L seperately? As far as I knew FI motorcycles do not have seperate reserves.

Check a post few pages back, a Yamaha engineer suggested to adjust that after 3000kms and also not to pamper the bike much; it's a rev happy engine, so better woosh it after the break-in period.
And those grab rails are amazing. I had handguards installed and now the rails are my saviour
