  • Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences

It's me again. After my last update my bike has run another 1000 kms. And im horrified to report that the coin rattle sound is back and is just as worse as before, if not worse. You can hear it in the video and compare it to the video i took before the tappet sound adjustment i got the last time i went to Adarsh Yamaha. It now has a vibrating sound at 5000 RPM which just sounds unpleasant. To me now it sounds like an engine knock. Which is bad, really bad for the engine.

I did not expect such a shoddy product from Yamaha at all. The bike has some very apparent power loss as well. The bike is not as sprightly as it once felt.

I will be going to Adarsh Yamaha once again and will give them clear instructions to resolve the sound once and for all or just keep the bike.

When I turn my ignition to "on", the instrument panel is sometimes blank (no life). After waiting a few secs, it comes to life. Also my horn changes sound when I honk a little longer. Does this mean the battery is weak?

From the post counts and the related issues and a brand new engine being opened up due to problems. Though the latter can be termed as a one-off, persistent valve-train issues and parts being replaced, yet yielding no satisfactory improvement, can either point to a poor engineering from Yamaha's side or the vendor that Yamaha has chose to source parts from has really cheaped out. Though this engine is the same as XR 250 and what not, repeated problems can only mean either a frustrated customer or a diminishing brand value, unfortunately.

        Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

        THE END

Its inbuilt sound of this machine. Svc mechs can't do anything about it. Best way is to ignore this else you will get frustated day by day.

Its more psycological than practical. Yes rattle noise is there but its not effecting performance by any means. People have already done Spiti and Ladakh like terrains on this bike without a single issue. Yes till first 2k kms engine feels harsh but after that this engine settles down to lower decibels.
Even KawaH2R have whistling sound from engine...

I too changed entire engine head assembly at 1300km just to eliminate this rattling noise but noise still remain even with new head. After that I ignored this sound and now I am at almost 4k kms enjoying huge torque, smooth high speed runs, descent mielage of 35+, no engine heat, no loss of performance, no leakage sepage of oil, no issues watsoever..even i never adjusted my chain till now.

If you try yo pamper your fz25 then she will hurt you...use good quality helmet which snuggly fit n filters some sound, ride hard and focus on exhaust note..its not 1500cc silent engine or super smooth liq cooled cbr..its raw "air cooled" 250cc high torque engine which will produce some noises...valve terrain settings are by default on loose side for better heat dissipation which produces sound..and it has dual valve spring which is another reason for more rattle sound..but system is very solid and reliable.

My first concern is pillion seat. I want pillion seats to be comfortable for sideway sitting. I've seen Fazer fi & I feel it's comfortable. I just want to know the pillion seat height of fz 25. If you could compare both bikes pillion seat height, please let me know. If the heights are same I'll definitely go to fz 25 else I have to choose fazer fi.
One of the most comfortable pillion set (verdict by Wife ).

I have bought a FZ25 - Cyan Blue about 2 weeks back and she handles beautifully through the bangalore traffic. Absolutely no vibrations. I'm coming from a bullet earlier and maybe I feel that way due to the fact that I had got used to so many vibrations earlier!
The LED headlights look amazing and it was probably the reason why I got pulled to her. But no regrets at all.
Just a quick thought.. The pilot lamps just above the headlights are yellow (filament bulb) which in my opinion looks like an eyesore. I really want to change those to white LED's. I know that is the normal t10 type and can get a philips/osram white led as a replacement. Any ideas if this can be a DIY?
you need to removed 10 screws for this simple job. its straight forward.

So I have driven around 2.4K Km on this bike. The only issue I'm having is mileage. It is stuck at a constant 28-29km/l as per console(whether maintaining at 60-80km/h or cruising at 115km/h). I have tried calculating manually and it does end at 28-30kml. Asked the SVC, they told its FI, so no tuning can be done, drive till 6K kilometers, until bore of the engine comes free.

I'm serious. Don't buy it. Wait for some time, gather some monies and just get a Dominar. This bike is a totally missed opportunity by Yamaha. Trust me you will get that coin rattling sound and when you do, you will regret buying it, just as i do now. Don't underestimate the issue. It is a lot more common than you think.

I hope someone from YAMAHA reads this and rectifies their stupid product.

None that I have faced. Once the mechanic altered the valve clearance which resulted in low acceleration. But that's fixed.

I think there is a drop in performance. The bike just does not feel as sprightly as before. That "Torque wave" feeling is gone.
Maybe it's placebo. Maybe there isn;t any drop in performance. But it affects you psychologically in such a way that even if there isn't any drop in performance, you feel that there is some.
Honestly, i don't know. I need some other bike to compare with.
