  • Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences

Finally gave in and brought home the beast in black yesterday. Reg not done yet, as its from the new lot and they told that it would take about a week to 10 days. So, just riding around my RTO zone for now. Also, I got the bike from a local multi brand dealer, since he was closer to my place and got me the bike in 2 days. The painful thing is, he had rode the bike for ~60Kms to move it from a Yamaha showroom to the local store (hoping he rode it sanely and there's no damage done ). Could this pose a problem to the engine in the long run?

First impressions for a P200NS rider, the machine feels so nimble, and comfortable (much better seating position and footpeg placement), although the seating could use a bit of cushion (still better than my NS). Engine feels very refined and there's minimal to no vibes (felt slight buzz around 4.5K RPM), and even for just riding under 4- 4.5K, I can already feel the immense torque on this one, can't wait to go past 6K now. And the exhaust note is pretty sweet too..Overall, super happy!

The original horn is very meek and doesn't get the crowd to respond. Would adding an extra horn of the same type help? (or) Any other horn from other bike or aftermarket ones?? Welcome your suggestions people..

P.S: Will post some pics soon. BTW, I got a different looking Crash Guard than the one I saw in the official FZ25 pamphlet and the ones people posted here, Which looks slightly better in my opinion, hopefully it will serve its purpose..

Wait till 1000km. Like magic its behaviour changes. And follow the manual for running in instructions. Enjoy riding !

From the showroom yes. That's what I saw in Bangalore too.

Just reached home from total 130km proper dark highway ride with 3 breaks of 2-3 minutes each, odo is now 805km. Tomorrow going for first service-

          - no complaints on comfort, no tired feeling, no butt and back pain at all. Just little pain in right hand palm area due to hard throttle grip.

          - No engine heat issue at all. Performed equally good when I came back in city traffic.

          - In heavy head on wind, bike used to struggle little bit. No problem of stability in cross winds and during heavy vehicle pass.

          - Little vibrations from 70 to 80kmph, and some rattling/whistling sound from 60 to 80kmph. Rattling stays at 80kmph constant but goes away after that.

          - I have found panic braking is more safer in fz25 compared to my zma-r. It doesn't lock easily if I am using both brakes in correct manner. There were 3 instances when I had to brake instantly from 80 to 0 kmph and it perform well.

          - HL is still weak when there is glare from upcoming traffic. Cant see anything in that situation. Though in dark it perform good. Intensity in low beam should be more so that in glare of upcoming traffic atleast road should be lit properly.

Overall I am happy with its performance, specially its low end torque. Perfect mountain goat it will be- which I wanted😊😊

Very much helpful. Thank you. What is the proper cruising speed of the bike. At what speed can the bike cruise for long time without much stress on the engine. Especially on highways?

With head on wind- 80-90 kmph
              Normal condition- 100-110 kmph

There r several fz25 owners in this group as well as outside who r bit worried abt few points. Being a proud owner of the same want to highlight few points -

                1. In every new fz25 there's Head light issue. So just after buying the beast ask the service engineer to adjust the beam (if required).

                2. Do not buy any accessories from the showroom as they charge much higher than outside for the same products. Like- seat cover, leg guard, ladies foot peg, grip cover, taflon coating (so called), etc. But do take the extended warranty by paying extra rs.777 (within 3 months from buying date).

                3. 1000kms is the run in period for the beast. Try to maintain 4000-5000rpm during this period. Don't rev hard.

                4. Do the 1st service around 1000kms and change the engine oil only provided by Yamaha. (Fully synthetic).
Also clean n insist to lube the chain by Motul c1 and c2.

                5. Every 1000kms clean the chain with motul c1 and lube with c2. If not then use petrol/ diesel to clean the chain and then lube.

                6. Maintain proper tyre Pressure. Front - 25 ps rear 29 ps. (Check every week).

                7. Do not fit any electrical aftermarket accessories, cause this can void the warranty. Like - fog lights, indicators, horns etc.

                8. Many people are complaining regarding engine oil leakage. This is a serious issue. I recently visited the showroom they said that due to the copper washers it is leaking. Those washers need to be tightened n if required need to be replaced.

                9. The fuel tank capacity is 14 ltrs (theoretical). But It is actually less. 2.1 ltrs always we have to maintain as it is fuel injected. That means when the last fuel indicator bar will start blinking. Also there is no fuel knob.

                10. The last but not the least it is not a sports / tourier byk do not treat this as Duke or Dominar. It's very powerful yet nimble byk for day to day commuting. With 40+ milege. The torque is well distributed among all gears. Easily it achieves 140 kmph speed.

                Suggestions plz
The 2nd point which you mentioned has a flaw, basically try getting the accessories originally from Yamaha, anything from outside not worthy .,even ask the showroom guy to get original accessories for you.

I asked guys to fix HL, Now its better. I don't find any difficulty riding on almost completely dark road.
Default settings sucks no use. Get it fixed. ( it's just setting issue not bike issue guys)

One thing I want to share,
After servicing my rare disc breaks were not working at all (zero breaks), I almost had an accident. I decided to visit SC next day. but on second day it was working better than first day.
I decided not to go to SC. On third day it became as good as it was before servicing.
I don't know how does it happen, Any guesses.
Take care of this situation after servicing.
Probably one of these could be the culprit: diesel wash, some oil spatter or minute quantity of polish spray used when shining your bike ended up on the brake pads.

Remember in future if it happens you just need to use good liquid soap detergent to clean the brake roators and wash it down with plain water.
There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

The same I mentioned don't go for generic accessories...End of the day there's no other place other than the showroom which can provide you the original Yamaha accessories.
