I'm not a fan of the exhaust note. At low revs, it sounds like a 2 stroke Bajaj (KB 100, to be specific), and at high revs, the engine "sounds" really stressed.

Also, the headlights are no good at all. The low beam is lost among all the halogen lamps. The high beam is too enthusiastic and literally aims for for the stars.

The seat if not bad at all. If seats a 6'4" giant comfortably, even on long rides. Pillion riders have got no complaints either.

The rear tyre hugger is absolutely USELESS. My backpack always ends up with a layer of mud on it, even after a short ride.

For someone who's graduated from a scooter, the brakes are excellent. About the engine, for something that sounds so stressed at high revs, it can pull practically in any gear above 3k RPM. Absolutely fantastic! It feels so great, especially when compared to that scooter.

Fuel economy is liveable. 35.1 km/L (or so the bike claims) for a 3 day old engine is not bad.

Sometimes, vibes do creep in at 4k RPM. Did not see that coming. Nothing serious though.

The RVM's have definitely not been designed with large people in mind. My elbows are the only things I can see in them, no matter how much I try and adjust.

The horn, or "tweeters" as someone accurately called them, really feel very odd on such a beefy looking bike.

The black colour attracts no attention whatsoever. It's a great underdog. I'm glad I chose this over the KTM or the Dominar.

You are graduating from a Scooter, you will found that Throaty Exhaust Note to be loud. Wait for few days to get used to the sound or wait for some other fellow to praise the exhaust note in fornt of you so that you may change your opinion later. FZ25 sounds good as many owners said.

don not rev it until it crosses 2000km in Odometer, otherwise you know what can happen if you do not maintain proper break in

buy r15 horns, cost 310 for dual horns at Yamaha ASC

I've no complaints upto last week whatsoever, but then things starts to get weird. Alright, here's the thing, when I start my motorcycle, engage the clutch and dropped it into first gear, I'm slowly releasing the clutch then feeds the throttle, and then suddenly it stalls and died! This doesn't happen everytime but it happens to me thrice. And the funny thing is, after it stalls and died, whenever I tried to start it up again by pressing the start button, it just won't start. Only when I turn off the ignition and turn it back on then it starts again! This also happens to me while I'm on the move, cruising slowly in 2nd gear in traffic. I know I'm still a novice but I can move my motorcycle smoothly from stop to go and this doesn't have anything to do with me being a squid or not learning to smoothly control the clutch or feed the throttle. Console all lits up, headlight, indicator all working fine. The battery seems to be working perfectly. Electrical problems? Fuel injection? Any advice guys?
Check your idle RPM, guess its below the recommend level

Has anyone got any vinyl wrapping done or good stickers in Mumbai? Looking to get a little personalisation done. Anyone can recommend good artists or specific shops for this kind of stuff? Grant road/lamington road/Parel??

Although the problem itself doesn't seem to be serious and should be an easy troubleshoot for the service guys, riding it with repeated stalls without getting the underlying problem fixed is absolutely not advisable
                Will do. Thanks, Mate

You might want to rethink that.
White LED indicators are barely visible in broad daylight, neither are they road legal, something we don't care for. (Only Amber or Red I believe are road legal for blinkers)

Where exactly did you get it done?

Are the LEDs plug and play? Will changing it over void the warranty?

How extensive of a job is it to change the mirrors?

How much does the mirrors cost?

                        Again, sick bike dude!

The quarter-liter underdog - Ownership experience

Before we get into the details of my motorcycle purchase experience I’d like to tell you how my interest in motorcycles started.

Motorcycle riding is a combination of exhilaration, fear, relaxation, and pleasure that changes you forever. It’s physical & emotional pleasure, with a layer of anxiety & adrenaline.

To kill some time I was watching some random video on YouTube and accidentally landed up on a motorcycle video by PowerDrift. Sagar Sheldekar, he is the reason why I fell in love with motorcycles. The enthusiasm he has while reviewing motorcycles and his riding style shows how much fun it is to ride a motorcycle.

After spending hours watching more PowerDrift videos, I realized that it was time to part ways with my 5-year-old Honda CB Twister, and look for something more powerful to satisfy my hunger to experience great motorcycling.

Even though I watched some awesome reviews of the Daytona 675R, the Z650, and Honda CBR 650F, I knew I could not afford those monsters as yet, so I decided to look for motorcycles under 1.5 Lakhs.

Buying a motorcycle is not as simple as walking to a store and buying your favorite pair of jeans. It's a tedious yet an enjoyable process, going to different showrooms to test ride various motorcycles.

After test riding the Apache RTR 200 and the FZ25, my heart was set on the FZ25. Unfortunately, the NS 200 was unavailable for the test ride.

                          The Day Of Delivery:

I had decided to take delivery on a Sunday at 3 pm. It seemed like forever for the clock to strike 3 pm. After reaching the showroom, the bike was already ready and after completing all the remaining formalities, everything was done around 4 pm and I rode the bike for the first time. Boy o boy I was in love.

Have to add that the showroom was quite poor, the initial delivery was promised to be a Thursday and it was delayed by 3 days due to petty reasons and the showroom is managed by some 20-year-olds who have no knowledge about motorcycle except for the pricing. Had no idea about the extended warranty, the service manual was given to me at a later day as they forgot about it and so was the toolkit. If you are planning on purchasing a Yamaha Motorcycle from Panache Enterprises Indiranagar, avoid it all costs and visit a different showroom.

The ride back home was crazy the power delivery was just so perfect. On the way back, we had finished all the religious formalities and it was time for me to test this beauty out on the streets.

                          The Journey So Far:

She is more than a bike to me, she is my go to stress buster and my favourite companion. Being a quarter-liter the low-end torque is just amazing, a slight twist of the accelerator and you see yourself zoom past traffic with ease. The bike makes every city commute that much pleasurable, it doesn't heat up much in traffic, torque and gear ratios are great to go along in traffic, it is a light handler, and gets a few onlookers as well. Brakes could have definitely been a bit better, the lack of ABS is a bummer and the rear brake does feel a lot spongy and lacks initial bite. The console could have definitely packed in a lot more details like gear position and a side-stand indicator.

The biggest downside of this motorcycle is the poor headlight, even after adjustments they are bad. Period. The throw is bad, the brightness is bad and practically useless in traffic. Have a had a few close calls with a couple of potholes due to the poor headlights.

On highways, the motorcycle is an absolute treat to ride. There is a slight vibration felt around the 5000 rpm range, which could get a little annoying, but apart from that its smooth as butter.

Fuel efficiency in peak Bangalore traffic is just around 30-32 kmpl and on highways its around 40-42 kmpl. It is one of the most practical bikes on sale in India right now, for a price of 1.5 lakhs on road Bangalore, I doubt any other manufacturer offers as much practicality.

                          Maintenance:

First service cost was around Rs. 1300. Washing the bike after rains is a tedious task as the rear tends to get a lot of mud as the rear mud guard is too short. The tires have a decent grip on dry surfaces but on wet surfaces, it's average at best, definitely, needs replacement to something more grippier.

                          Verdict:

After 3-months and 2,000kms of smiles all along, never once was I let down by the bike. Weighing in at just 148 kgs also makes it a perfect companion in stop and go traffic which is quite common in Bangalore.

If you're looking for a daily use bike or an agile yet stable at high speeds, this bike is for you. It's really value for money, keeps you happy, has relatively low maintenance, and even the efficiency is great for a quarter-liter. You can commute on it, tour on it, get groceries on it and what not!

                          Some questions to the community:

                          1. 30kmpl in city traffic seems to be quite, any tips on improving fuel efficiency?
                          2. Should I continue to use Yamalube or switch to Motul?
                          3. What's the ideal tire pressure? I generally keep it at 28 front and 33 rear instead of the recommended 25 front and 29 rear, is this fine or should I reduce?

Tasteful job there mate. Kudos! One question: How is the visibility after changing to KTM's RVMs? Did you get them from KTM SVC or anywhere online?
I too want to change my RVMs, confused between Apache RTR's and KTM's. Would love to know which one is better.
