    Hey guys
The gear shifting is too hard.
Is there any way around it or should I wait for 1st service?

Seems like this is a normal issue. What I've found is that for some of us who are switching to the FZ from an existing bike, we tend to be used to the clutch play and feel of our existing bikes which might make it a half clutch depression on the FZ.. so for me I found that the shifts were better when I pulled the clutch completely all the way to the grip.

Having said that however, the first gear to Neutral shifting is hard but not the others. Downshifting is fine but 1-N is sticky. So much so that I actually have trouble shifting to N from 1 and because it's so tight it shifts directly to 2 and I then need to downshift to N from 2

I had very hard shift till around 500 on ODO, then it smooth out a bit and after 1st service gear shift is butter smooth. But if you feel its a task to change a gear than you should visit svc and get clutch settings checked.

          Hello,

I am planning to buy a bike, currently owning CB Twister(6 years) and Splendor (2 years). After narrowing all the options, I am planning to upgrade to either FZ 25 or Dominar 400, I have been going through Ownership threads of both bikes since few months. I am buying mainly for everyday commuting and weekend/Occasional touring purpose. Main concerns are ride experience, reliability, fuel efficiency and maintenance...

          so my queries:

          FZ 25:

Is ABS very necessary for person like me upgrading from 110CC engine?

Headlights: What to do about the issue?

Vibrations: Would it affect me considering twister which has a great refined engine till i hit high speeds (>90)?

Reliability and maintenance :I know yamaha is reliable, but i see engine replacements, weird noises and maintenance issues for this particular bike..!

          Dominar 400:

Weight: 80+kgs bump compared to Twister, will it affect me a lot?

Fuel efficiency: The claimed mileage is 35, but 3 of my college mates who own it told it hardly crosses 25kmpl in real time conditions.. i am worried!

maintenance: Bajaj doesn't have a great service record nor the bikes are not very reliable, Is it the same for Dominar?

Vibrations : question same as for FZ 25

          considered 200 4V, opted out because FZ 25 is a better choice(right?)
          Any other options also welcome....

fz-25 abs not necessary as the wheels dont lock up easily.
headlight is managable after adjustment (not great not good only managable at night)
regarding vibration you can not compare refinement level of 110cc to 250cc and above ,fz 25 refinement level is much higher than dominar (take test rides to judge).
            mileage with proper riding fz25-40+ , dominar-30+
weight bump of dominar might affect handling a bit but you will get used to it .

I have used fz16 for 9 years now.it was one of the most sturdy bikes till date. I am still not sure about my decision for fz25.

              Please help guys!!

AS per the showroom guy the indicators & all plastics including tail section is made up of very flexible plastic.

because stiff plastics can form cracks upon impact

You should again consider the 200V. Pretty much all of the minor niggles have been sorted out already. It's about 35k cheaper and a much better package overall IMHO (better Pirelli tyres, better console, better handling, stock headlight, as good build quality if not better and a bulletproof engine) in case you intend to use it majorly within the city. On the highways, the FZ will have some advantage in the top end.

The Fz25 is a great motorcycle too but seems a lot of niggles need fixing by Yamaha as of now. Take a test ride.

They are on the thread. Some reading recommended. Niggles exist on nearly all new motorcycles that come out. What matters is how quickly the manufacturer weeds them out.

Had twister done 70k km,cb unicorn 35k km and ns 12k km. Loved twister still love it

Currently Owning FZ25 and did 1300 km and enjoying every bit of commuting on it, I really enjoyed NS character but in traffic lot of gear shift feels like a task, in FZ 25 you are at ease because of torque it provides in early rpm's. Currently getting mileage of 38kmpl in Mumbai. If majorly you are doing commuting and occasional touring go for FZ25.

Since I didn't do any touring till now on it I cannot comment its touring capability, but it is very comfortable commuter. And niggles people are talking are minor and noise is character of a bike mine doesn't seems to have it, in my case i have no problem except for front disk RUST which is possible in rain and where you live. It will be cleared with polish after rain gets over.

comparing with twister don't worry about vibration you will not feel any.

                        Dominar

This is totally different machine ok for commuting but more it sides for touring IMO.

You can TD RTR 200 also.

Hey guys thanks for all your suggestions and help, got my fz25 yesterday 😍😍 tried my best with the PDI . As all have said, I have also faced the issue with the tyre hugger not being efficient, had some splash on my pillion and a lot of it inside.... Another thing was that both of my palms were hurting a bit, also can someone tell me which rpm would be suitable for a great change for different gears??? Will try my best to get over with the 1000 km mark so I can actually unleash her,😋😋

Tyre hugger is shit .(i am also facing wrath of my tyre huggers)
For your palms you can try grips costing 50rs or so else you will get used to it after a week.(i got grips & my palms thank me)
3000 to 4000 rpm is the sweet spot.(i change in this range it feels smooth)

For now, I see the tappet noise issue as the only main concern. I expected it to be sorted out in the current batches, but the number of people reporting the same seems to be increasing rather than decreasing. Be it this thread, other forums or even Yamahas facebook page. I hope Yamaha will sort it out ASAP.
