Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
they might ask you to pay the amount... for rubber part... but if your bike has very few kilometres running like mine was 3600 km odo... just tell them it's a manufacturing defect... because that rubber part doesn't get so bad at just 2000 thousand kilometres (that's when i noticed this issue )Originally posted by niharx View PostJamshedpur

What exaclty was the issue and how did you find out about it?... I went a few pages back but couldn't find the original post, hence the query.Originally posted by 93nikhilverma View Postthey might ask you to pay the amount... for rubber part... but if your bike has very few kilometres running like mine was 3600 km odo... just tell them it's a manufacturing defect... because that rubber part doesn't get so bad at just 2000 thousand kilometres (that's when i noticed this issue )

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Beast tasted first blood

My first tour on fz25 to munsiyari (uttarakhand) around 1400km. Faced all terrains, harsh weather, offroad (serious one) , expressways, steep inclines etc etc. As a tourer prospective (touring doesn't mean riding above 120kmph on open highways in my dictionary)-
Comfort- 9/10 (little uncomfort only on descends coz of slight forward riding position)
Mielage/tank range- 10/10 (got overall 39kmpl)
NVH level- 8/10 ( I am comparing with zma)
Braking- 10/10 (perfect panic braking)
Power/Torque- 10/10 (more than sufficient considering mielage)
Handling- 8/10 (I felt front tires loosing grip on corners specially on hills)
Reliability/Quality- 10/10 (not a single bolt lessen up, no oil leaks, no paint damage, nothing..its rock solid as before when I returned home.
Night riding/HL- 7/10 ( for straight and dark roads HL beam angle and illumination is sufficient but during corners and hilly terrain its unsafe coz of narrow beam spread )
Overall its a perfect touring machine for me, a very practical , DIY friendly and easy bike for Indian touring conditions. This is not the bike for high speed guys. Upto 120kmph its perfect. I feel fz25 is just like two wheel SUV.
NOTE: I am touring on motorcycles since 2007.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
My Experience with FZ25 - ODO= 1100 km-first service completed-Upgraded from apache RTR 160
I bought the bike 40 days back after a 4 month long study on various forums, got best suggestions and reviews from xBhp.
Everything everybody who bought the FZ25 and said (good and bad) on this forum are TRUE, I had to buy and ride it till today to know and feel them.I post below my findings and experiences only after feeling them.Got an april month bike in december, dont know why the dealer gave it to me.
Color - I chose the white one( Subjective)
Price - 1.42 Lakhs in Andhra Pradesh (With accessory leg guard)
Good :
Performance : The bike really has good torque and pulls on any gear perfectly. I only took it to just 75 kph till now, just completed break in period. Torque enough for me to cruise and overtake at will.
Looks: The bike has looks to kill and a head turner
Build quality : Considering cost for a 250 CC ( cheap), the bike though has low build quality. FZ S 2.0 has better build quality. Squeaks from plastics can be heard just by sitting on the bike. But satisfied with the overall feel.
Mileage : I have been getting 35 kmpl on sensitive riding, very much satisfied with this. (but was expecting 38 kmpl)
Ride quality: It feels comfortable for rides more than 100 kms in stretch, but wrists tend to pain due to a bit hard throttle.Riding stance suits almost everybody. The ride quality overall is good as excepted from Yamaha.
Yamaha service and response: India yamaha responded to all my queries, problems immediately till now, service is not great but depends on location.
BAD :
Vibrations : The reason I took the bike to speeds of just 75 KMPH till now is vibration. The bike used to vibrate (foot pegs, handle bar) in low RPMS from day one, have written a mail to yamaha and they asked me to wait till first service. But till first service the vibrations are irritating (RTR 160 owner so i know a fair bit about them), even the pillion foot pegs are vibrating (sat and tested by myself). After first service the vibrations are less but still there at 5k RPM and bike feels stressed at 75 kmph
Tappet noise : THE DREADED PROBLEM- Had it from day one, increased day by day and had to use helmet to avoid them, after service got them adjusted but still there. I am learning to live with it (forcefully
ofcourse)
Headlight : Like everybody said DANGEROUS, had two heart in mouth situations.I adjusted the beam by myself from DIY videos and suggestions on this forum (thank you), still not satisfied but better after the adjustment.
Chain noise : I cleaned it, got it cleaned, adjusted the slack many times but still the front sprocket makes a lot of noise.
Instrument console : Small but manageable, should have been a lot informative.
Well thats all i have been facing till now, fortunately all of them both good and bad were raised by many on this forum, so i have prepared for all of them.Hoping to get better from the bike. Its a bike thats enjoyable and annoy able. Thanks for everyone who have shared invaluable information here and to xBhp.
Sorry for the long post really- But please post more findings on the problems common with everyone

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I would like to add that riding the bike hard will make the vibration at 5k rpm reduce drastically. I also used to ride below 75 kmph but now will cross 5k rpm smoothly and maintain speeds between 80 to 95 on highways. This is the sweet spot for panic breaking and mileage. So now I don't really care about tappet noise and vibration at 5k rpm. Also as many suggested changing to motul 7100 is good. That's another thing to make the bike smoother

Hello all,
so i finally managed to fix the aux lights myself.... made proper fixing used black electric tape and heat sync housing for wire... so that no further electrical issue is there...
here are some images attached below... however i still need to check and adjust the angle of light... but that is not an issue...

Do ride with the lights and update how they are in terms of visibility and vibrations, weather instances etc etc .Last edited by abhijithpreddy; 12-31-2017, 11:20 PM.

Check the mileage from reserve to reserve.
The practice which i follow is: I use the Trip 2 for my FE purpose. When the last bar indicator starts to blink, i reset the Trip 2, then i get 10L and wait until the next blink.
I suggest you to reset your avg indicator while you are driving, not when standing. It will take some time to come to the nearest accurate. And get fuel in liters as i explained. Last but not least, best practice, open the spark plug and check color (chocolate/red color), it will tell the whole story.
With one teeth increase at front will give around 5kph of increase but gears will become taller. 160 is not possible as of now. It may touch that figure after the engine completes 10,000 kms.
Update:
One more point, don't get power/speed petrol those are for higher compression engines. Loss of power has been reported using that fuel. Eventually if there is a loss you would pull more throttle and the effect is on FE.
Hi,
I have made changes to front sprocket wheel from 14T to 15T for my old FZ16, and totally this has spoiled my brand new chain sprocket, 15T front sprocket of honda unicorns, it is always better to up size rear Tyre instead of changing chain sprockets, there is one more option, better change rear sprocket instead of front, rear sprocket should be one teeth smaller, like if stock one comes with 45 teeth, you can change FZ16 rear sprocket wheel, that comes with 44 Teeth, and do not buy FZS version 2 sprocket this come with same 45T.
44Teeth is suitable for city ride and also high ways, according to experience there is increase of 5Km per teeth, and really easily you can touch 150 Kmph on high ways.

Yeah. But someone in the forum mentioned motul made the bike a bit rough. Any ideas about shell advanced?.
To all out there, Has anyone heard of ECU updates being rolled out that makes the bike a bit more smoother and marginally improves performance??. Thats a message one guy had put up in the Fz25 group out here.
Hi Team,
Yes it is true, there is software update for ecu, i have done this in first service, when my bike idling was high, after that there is lot of improvement in drive, like less vibration and also increase in mileage, slight increase in pick up.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Looks good. I really would have liked to fit one but don't know any good shops out here that can do this. Have you taken a video or pictures of every step which could be real helpful for beginner DIY guys like meOriginally posted by 93nikhilverma View PostHello all,
