Is there tappet noise after 80 kmph? I noticed today coz I was riding with open face helmet. Won't it affect the engine or performance?

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi,Originally posted by Abhilash831989 View PostHello All,
I am going to book my FZ25 on 28th feb and planning to take delivery on 2nd week of March 2018 from Monarch Yamaha Pune, i had few queries:
1. How do i ensure that i am getting a bike manufactured in 2018.
2. Secondly i am not getting a test drive bike.
3. any other advise as deemed fit.
FYI, i have made myself well versed with PDI and run-in.
Thanks
Why don't you go to Shelar yamaha at Wakadewadi...You test ride the bike there...

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Today i noticed a unusual thing with my bike, it refuses to start even after 5 cranks then i opened the tank cap after that it took like 4 cranks to start ,after that problem disappeared. Any one faced this type of issue?

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I have had this behavior only in certain circumstances. Bangalore has high temp variance. Around 12 14 early morning and 27 28 degrees around noon. After a long early morning run parking and then trying when the temp is around 24 caused that to happen. Also petrol tank was nearing reserve. Luckily some members here had mentioned this problem and I knew what to do. Then it does not bother. Happened maybe 3 times in 10000 plus km.Originally posted by niharx View PostToday i noticed a unusual thing with my bike, it refuses to start even after 5 cranks then i opened the tank cap after that it took like 4 cranks to start ,after that problem disappeared. Yes, tappet noise is present post 80 kph. I did my second service today and made the svc person thoroughly check my engine. I have faced tappet noise since the last few days. But he assured me that it won't harm the engine. Will let you know my post-service feedback soon.Originally posted by Shamanth Gowda View PostIs there tappet noise after 80 kmph? Ok thanks. I think it's a common thing with this engine. If it doesn't harm, then no concern.Originally posted by JyotishmanS View PostYes, tappet noise is present post 80 kph. Its common in most bs4 bikes as tank is sealed and evaporated fuel vapours goes to charcoal canister then again to intake. Sometimes air lock happen in sealed tank when parked in direct sun for long time and bike not starts. Just open tank lid for few seconds in this situation.Originally posted by niharx View Postyes for around 3 hrs.

Run your bike for say 10 KM. Flush the oil Check how thick it is.Originally posted by leech View PostYes, you are right. A 10w50 oil will 'thicken' to 50 weight at 100 degrees C. A 10w30 oil will stay at 10 weight cold, and when the engine heats up to optimal temperature, the oil will behave like a 30 weight oil.
Apparently to our Kris123456, cooking oil in the kadai has the same properties as carefully formulated multigrade engine oil meant for high performance engines. This is advanced knowledge for me.
Open a new can of oil. Compare its viscosity with the freshly flushed oil.
Compare which one has viscocity by pouring them in a pan and see.
I know, you will say that the flushed oil is old, so it lost its properties.
Put the new oil. Run for again 10 KM. Open another can and compare both.
The formulation of Oil is same. Be it engine oil or edible oil. One has additives and the other has color additives and preservatives.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
No separate locks. Just using the hooks found under the rear seat, to lock the helmets. Its not perfect, as it can fall on the side (and cause minor damages), if someone moves/pushes the bike.Originally posted by fiero02 View Postwhat kind of helmet locks guys are using of FZ 25.I was unsuccessful in putting the W type helmet locker on it? Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Yeah, I've also developed the same habit. I drive on my toes. Earlier I used to put the middle part of the foot on the peg but now I rest it such that only 20% of the foot is ahead of the peg. It was very uncomfortable in the starting as I had to bend my knee more than the traditional method, but now it is fine. And I prefer engine braking and front brakes combination, I use rear brakes in some panic situation only.Originally posted by Swapraj1872The Normal brakes will perform well if the pads are in good condition and it also depends on what tyers you have on the bike . the stock tyers may not provide you the grip and the required handling under hard braking. i will suggest you to change the tyers to Pirelli sports demon or MRF Messeter which will give you a very good feedback and stability during hard braking.
Since you talked about braking , i wanted to bring up the issue of rear disc brakes . While riding the bike if your right leg is always resting on the break pedal then the brake pad will come in slight contact with the plates and will wear off in less than 3000 to 5000 Km . since its a disc unit even a soft touch of our foot will put the rear brakes in contact with the disc plates and might also impact the fuel efficiency of the bike. I do not think there is way to get the brake lever positioned a bit lower than the front foot rest.
So i am making a habit of driving resting my front foot on foot pegs and not the ankle. its was kind of conscious effort for first few days but now i find that my foot do not touch the brake lever all the time and now my minds reminds me if the foot goes on the brake lever while driving . I hope this will ensure that brake pads lasts longer and the wheels are not getting any unwanted Resistance resulting in a better fuel economy .
I was aware about the fact that a lot of owners rear brake pads have worn out so quickly but could not establish the reason very accurately . this is something i only identified once I laid my hands on my own FZ 250.
Riding is not just a skill, it's an attitude
