I feel the same about the headlight, but fir Highways and Twisties you will need aux lights. I did a night ride on a highway with twisties and couldn't see shit. The average will increase, I'm getting around 37 in the city, almost 40 in the highway with break in speeds and Rpm.

Frankly, I don't mind the dipstick. My 220 oil level screen was getting blur and it was hard to read after 5 years.

I do have a mild tappet sound from engine when hot, I'm due for the first service so I will see if that goes away after tappet adjustment.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the bike, I'm sure you'll be too.

    Robb.
The best thing in the bike is it's bassy exhaust note, when you accelerate your bike the sounds feel really amazing.

          Yamaha fz25 500 km review.
Bought the bike on the 9th of September and yesterday was her first proper ride. Guwahati-Mawphlang-Guwahati, 250 kms with wife as pillion. Breaking it down, i firmly say that this is the best damn bike for traffic. Zipping past vehicles through the tightest of gaps is so much fun. I have in fact, hardly used the 1st gear, even in the worst traffic. Coming to yesterday's trip, on the beautiful, snaking roads of Meghalaya, the low-end punch makes cornering on climbs a silken affair. The frame allows wonderful lean angles and i had no problems doing sharp bends at upto 75 kph. You will not even realise when 100 kph is hit and although i did not push her beyond 115 kph, going well beyond it wouldn't be difficult too. We rode for long stretches too and there was no heat felt. The seat is a sofa compared to my fz16 and even my wife had a very comfortable ride. Bad roads are handled like a car almost and doing even the 3rd gear wasn't a problem on potholed stretches.
Cons, the clunky gearbox made my foot ache by the end of the ride. Particularly irritated me when i was racing down straights with the 2 duke200s along with me. There is comprehensive engine braking in the 4500 to 5000 rpm band, and since the road is filled with turns, cornering constantly soon became a concern. The RVMs vibrate in this rpm band too. The headlight felt utterly useless on the highway with all high beam lights all around.
Overall, just the bike that suits me. Would love to hear some opinions though, especially on the engine braking thing. Thanks.

Bro I'm not happy with some parts of fz25 specially its shaking headlight, rear disk brake bite, instrument cluster and the front disk Quality...otherwise the bike is good and handling is also very good, why don't you go and ride both bikes...then you know which one is suitable for you.

After clearing all my confusions and doubts with the help of this forum, i narrowed down on Fz25 and Dominar 400. Currently i drive a 9 year old Pulsar 150 UG3.
I needed to ride them extensively before choosing the One. Hence i rented them out for a period of 1 day each and drove around 100 kms each of these bikes in Bangalore's B2B traffic, with pillion in traffic and on highways (without pillion).

                      Fz25 was:
                      - Very nimble, light weight and quick to change directions
                      - Had great acceleration given that it has average power figure and above average torque.
                      - Almost smooth at any rev range. Slight vibrations at handle bars at 85Kmph.
                      - Rear disc brake lacked bite
                      - Acceleration was dampened when riding with pillion
                      - Rental bike was driven almost 8800 kms and it didn't have any tappet sound.
                      - Headlight was below average before adjustment. I adjusted it and it felt average.
                      - Being 5'8", i felt a little difficulty in flat footing.
                      - Tank plastic (centre black coloured) got faded.
                      - Up Shifting gears was notchy at rpm below 4k. Above 4k it was a smooth shift. Gear shifting didn't feel like typical Yamaha.
                      - Engine didn't heat much.
                      - Headlights stays ON when you shut engine using kill switch. I felt this feature could lead to battery loss when shutting down bike at traffic signals.

I pushed it till 88Kmph and little did i find any vibration or lack of urge to move forward. With pillion this urge to move forward was dampened (Dominar didn't feel like that).

Smoothened out vibrations and its nimble handling has been pulling me towards Fz.

Dominar's observations are posted on Dominar's thread.

Completed another tour 400kms in approx 10 hrs with 3 breaks of 15-20 min each.
                        1. Engine is very reliable.
                        2. Suspension is superb.(below RE Classic obviously)
                        3. Average fuel indicator showing 44.1kmpl for the trip.(great)
                        4. Final 185kms of the trip covered in a single go(no breaks),engine was not overheating.
                        5. One time i didnt see a hump ,tried really hard with breaking at last moment & i failed to reduce my speed thanks to sleepy rear disc.

Any suggestions to improve rear disc braking.

If you can scroll back few pages, you will find the explanation of this method, i updated twice about my bike's mileage. And there are few others also who have done it differently, you can check theirs too.
Now my bike average fuel consumption decrease from 38 to 32.5kmpl....
