  • Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences

Hi guys, another rookie here. I don't have much riding experience. I've got my FZ25 last month and I was feeling stress from the engine going above 60kmph since the beginning, I thought it will be ok after the first service. but still i'm feeling the same even after 1700km. Bike's getting there and above quickly (60 and above), but i'm feeling the engine's under lots of stress. Is this normal?

Also anyone from Ernakulam? I took my bike from Indel Yamaha, Kalamassery. Shall I continue services with them or please suggest any good SVC.

    Thank you, Happy riding!

Just check whether they have adjusted the valve clearance during the first service. If not ask them to do it. FZ 25 we need to definitely check that in first service.
Even then you feel the same check the clutch even faulty clutch can cause this issue and I too had it and they replaced with a new one.

Just completed the first service at 970kms. Luckily I didn't have any big complaints such as tappet noise, oil leak, loose chain, or anything from the beginning. As experienced by most after 1st svc:
            1. Engine feels a lot smoother and gears have become easier to shift(didn't feel they were that hard from day1),
            2. Vibes that were present around 4.5k rpm have completely vanished.
            3. There was a vibrating sound arising from beneath the speedo console, it's also sorted now.

Got the tank pad/sticker from SVC itself as the guy said it's newly arrived for FZ25(Not sure how far it's true). Personally I liked the pad as it was more in line with the styling of the bike. 400 bucks for this.

Overall I'm extremely happy with the bike/svc so far and hope the pleasant experience continues.

            Cheers!

what does it mean "adjusted the valve clearance"? what do srv do & what valves are you talking about?

What does valve clearance commonly refer too... In a new engine normally the valve Clearance will be set more than the normal that will be the reason of sluggish power delivery at some points and pinking noise from the engine. So normally during the first service they will set the clearance as defined by the company ..
Here valve clearance is referred as clearance of valves that are present in the engine head

There is no specific video for fz 25, you can check in YouTube where they have shared some valve clearance setting videos.

To add to what Dinesh mentioned, you can check your owner's manual on when to carry out valve clearances. Usually newer engines have tighter tolerances, meaning some parts are tighter than the spec, and can be loose too. There have been many brand new R15s with loose valve clearances from the factory, which when started can hear a a faint ticking noise. Valve clearances means basically keeping the correct gap between the rocker arm and the valve step tip, usually these are given in mm values in the spec.

People usually say I hear tick tick, or continuous click, click sounds from the engine, during riding, this is due to higher valve clearance. Valve clearances are required to be checked not only on a new vehicle but say every 12 to 15k kms depending on the interval the manufacturer set. And that's mentioned in your manual. Nothing to worry.

Keep checking some videos and you'll get the hang of it.

                            Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                            THE END
