Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
After a lot of research, finally bought the bike and got it delivered a week ago. The bike performs smoothly most of the times.
Though, I'm facing a couple of issues:
I've ridden a total of 130Kms on the ODO.
Mostly in city B2B in 2nd/3rd gear and keeping the RPM between 3.5 and 4.5K with occasional bursts till 6K RPM.
1) Whenever I'm trying to Rev it gradually and go beyond 4.5K RPM, I hear an unusual and rough grunt from the engine and it struggles to go beyond 5K.
2) Been hearing a faint coin ringing "Tappet" sound since last 4 days, hope it gets sorted out during the 1st service.
3) Also, the Avg. FE indicated on the meter is 22.4 Kmpl.
It's slowly going up as I clock more Kms.
Haven't tried the tank full to full method to measure it yet.
4) Any comments on the accuracy of this FE indicated by the meter?
I'm a noob to riding and this is my first bike so please forgive me if I'm wrong anywhere and any advice is most welcome.

Thanks, but shouldn't I at least give the SVC guys a heads up about the Tappet noise?Originally posted by Dinesh.P View PostTappet noise is a usual thing in the engine.

I'll try calculating the FE again after I've ridden another hundred Kms.
And I see you've owned two Yamaha's in the past, nice collection you've got there!

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Tappet is the most common issue in fz25, three bikes in my office have the same issue but the service centers are ignoring this.Originally posted by Karanlal96 View PostThanks, but shouldn't I at least give the SVC guys a heads up about the Tappet noise?

i have gone to the service center twice for the coin rattle but they did not do anything and said it is fine.
rode 170 kms, the coin ringing is increasing and has been very irritating.

Ride it for 1000kms after they ignore take it to a different service center.Originally posted by Abhishek21puranik View PostTappet is the most common issue in fz25, three bikes in my office have the same issue but the service centers are ignoring this.

Yamaha service centers are known for ignoring issues so it's not.
Thank you I am always a Yamaha fan. But initial impressions of FZ 25 pissed me off but getting used to it and day by day it's getting better and liking it now.
So don't decide it in early stages.Last edited by Dinesh.P; 07-26-2017, 11:10 PM.Yamaha RX100 (1993)

I have done a bit of research on my own, when i put the bike on center stand and put the first gear and then take it to about 5000 rpm, the coin rattle does not happen.
but when i ride it, it does happen.
Also please clarify my doubt if the coin rattle and the tappet issue are the same or not..?

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
When we put the skid plate we cannot use the center stand so I removed it straight away ..Originally posted by krishna6239 View PostCurrently I'm getting an FE of 37.44kmpl in city, but bike is showing avg FE as 35.3kmpl.
Anyone in Bangalore/Mysore got skid cover for their bike ?Yamaha RX100 (1993)

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi this is not correct. You have to remove the center stand bolt and spring and then refit. I think this plate fixing has stumped many others too. But once you see it done it's easy.Originally posted by Dinesh.P View PostWhen we put the skid plate we cannot use the center stand so I removed it straight away ..

But when we release the stand its getting hitting with the plate and not going up.Yamaha RX100 (1993)

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Oh some mistake is there. Mine fits very well and no issues. Quite a need as it hits very high and sharp speed bumps for me. I think there are pictures of it somewhere earlier in the thread.Originally posted by Dinesh.P View PostService center guys only did it.
