Whats the cost involved in getting the FI maintained? i am about to jump the bandwagon of FZ25. just wanted to wait until the first batches are rolled out and all issues are fixed.

No point in buying a bike which needs ~1.5K FI cleaning charges, when efficient bikes which don't need such maintenance cost could be bought for few thousands more and offer better performance and egros (read pulsars). just waiting for inputs so, i could finalize my purchase. Thanks in advance.
It is one of the advanced ones currently used...It's a 10 hole injector which is more precise .

If I may add to this discussion, the person who would buy an FZ is completely different from someone who wants a KTM. We can discuss paper figures all we want.

Should an FZ be priced less or more is dependent on many factors. It's a free market and consumers today have many options. If people felt it was not a good option they simply wouldn't buy.

There are a lot of associated costs of maintaining any machine. In this area the FZ would be more closer to a commuter than a sport bike. I get a mileage of 41 consistent in Bangalore traffic with a calm accelerator hand. Since these were important to me I went with the FZ. If I was maybe younger and looking for a value sport bike KTM would have been a consideration.

City speeds are within 50 to 75kmph mostly for me. And this is where the FZ shines. It's right near the bottom of the rpm band at those speeds. The low stress nature is a big plus in daily use for me.

It can be a fixed but its too complicated.
I am sure next FZ25 upgrade will have ABS.

But I feel that FZ25 is just a beefed up FZ16, most of the components are the same. My cousin has a FZ16 for the past 7 years, I have ridden it a lot (unfortunately). Now he has upgraded to this FZ25, I had too much expectations from Yamaha, especially HANDLING & BRAKING. But Yamaha seems to have used the same FZ16 chassis, forks, swing-arm etc in the FZ25. It also handles the same, maybe a little more stable. I mean the FZ16 already had great handling, I expected way more than that in FZ25.

Don't quote me on the "same components" part. I know there are minor differences in the length, height and wheelbase figures, but in real world it doesn't result in a big change. Forks and fork travel is the exact same. Braking is similar to fz16, mushy, spongy, but powerful.

Power and torque is admirable though. There is a huge difference in engine response and low-end torque, still quite underpowered for a 250cc yamaha motorcycle, they could have derived 24 bhp easily. And apart from that, I don't feel any changes at all. It looks good on paper, but after driving I felt like it's WAY OVERPRICED. Yamaha should have priced it around 100000 ex-showroom.

These are my personal views, I don't hate yamaha at all. I just expect them to make better motorcycles in competition to Duke, cbr250r etc.

And who the hell DARES to compare this FZ25 with KTM duke 250??? The xbhp review is totally flawed in comparing it to the duke, I don't think there is anything in India that can compete with the dukes. Alas I am too tall for the KTM's, hence I can't buy one. But whenever I ride one of those (friend's) I am in total awe by the handling, braking and power delivery, sadly I get uncomfortable quickly. If KTM made a motorcycle for taller guys like me, I would buy it within seconds of launch!
Comparison with Duke 250 is just because they are with Same CC. Quite a few Portal have compared FZ25 with RTR 200 and Dominar too (probably because of price range).

Coming to your shared components with FZ16. Duke family in India share most of the components too. Its part of Manufacturers strategy to keep parts price low. I dont see anything wrong with it.

I ave used 390 for close to 4 years and 47000 KMs. I can easily say that FZ25 is not much different to 390 in city. In addition, its quite comfortable, refined and better fuel economy. I honestly dont want to compare it with Duke 200 or 250.

FZ25 is not targeted at power motorcycling but more of commuter oriented! Thats one of the reason i switched from 390 to FZ25.

Is that bad or good , from what he said it did sound a little concerning . Forgive my lack of knowledge on fi systems 😁 . So if you would could you explain your reply a bit more . Even an in depth essay would be ok lol . Thinking of getting this bike very soon.

There is no need of abs if you know how to ride
I own a Cbr 250r non abs and have ridden the duke 390s with abs switched off.
I've not faced any skidding issues with these machines
If you are new to these machines then abs would be a wise choice

On normal riding no issue at all but one day when I was out having fun with my friends , doing a little racing against one an other . One of my friend was overtaking another and i was just behind him accelerating to overtake him lol and then he sudden breaked (he didn't see the hump ) . So I had to sudden break too and my rear break locked up . Lucky I knew what to do and released my back break and maneuvered the bike back to normal lol . The friend who was behind is said he saw smoke from the rear tyre 😅.

Was just thinking if abs would come around soon I could get more bang for the buck xD . Initally when they released the Fz 25 I did think that the missing abs was a let down even more so than the power figures . Power figures I can live with easily but still would like to have abs just in case of things like that were to happen . Sometimes I get a little rash when I feel the moment 😅 .

As per speculation by few auto journos, FZ25 ABS version could be introduced during Fazer250 launch and should be around Sept-Oct timeline.

I thought about that too but that kinda unlikely , atleast in my view . Due to the fact that camo fazer seen testing on our roads doesn't have abs . But if they do indeed bring abs ,it would be a great option and would keep fz25's price on par with fazer 25. But it would highly damage the sales of fazer25 if they were to do so and no one wants to damage their own sales intentionally. Seeing as the bike is targeted for that low price segment , where people are looking for more bang for the buck . Well atleast that's what I would do .

My thoughts is that they would wait out and get as much sales on fazer 25 and fz25 ( non abs models ) as much as possible and then would launch both abs models . Maybe just before they make abs mandatory for 125+ , so I'm assuming first quarter of 2018 . Or as indicated on the auto reviewers they might just bring them out as abs . Who knows . Yamaha india confirm this for us please !!
