Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Fz25 has an SOHC engine with rocker arm type valves. This has been done to better manage heat as the bike isn't oil cooled. Due to this, the valve has more clearance and thus the rattling sound from the rocker arms. This is totally normal. I'm at 8200 kms now and my bike is getting smoother.Originally posted by newwannaberider View PostHi I've asked this once but got no replies but this coin rattling noise issue is bugging me to hell. My bike has just run 700km when it started and now after 1st service and 1500kms it still persists and only has increased IMO. I've asked the service guys and they just ignored it saying that it's there due to the engine. I honestly loved the first 700 kms on the bike and now I'm starting to regret my decision of buying. Can someone please help me?

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Engine backfire isn't normal. I guess you used impure petrol and now your fi outlets are blocked. Regarding handle vibrations, they reduce with time.Originally posted by ashokt444 View PostIs engine backfire on FI bikes during deceleration is normal, mine does a short backfire. Also the vibrations in handle, i have used an RTR 160 earlier and I am comparing the vibrations with that bike, how can I know if the vibrations in FZ25 are more than normal.
I have followed all the break in methods and never abused the bike, nobody used the bike other than me. I also took the bike after first service to 108 kmph and that is the highest I have ridden the yet.
Please help.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I m at 4000kms. The coin rattling noise was present from day 1. It sounded like an old 10 yr old bike. 1st service gone and the bike behaved better and smooth while coin rattling noise remained the engine. After 2ND service bike behavior was not as good as that after 1st service and coin rattling noise was the same. But gradually with more kms on odo the bike is becoming smoother and coin rattling noise is reducing. As other users have reported the engine will be the smoothest after 8000 to 10000 kms. So don't worry and ride patiently, the bike will bring your smile back after a few thousand kms.Originally posted by newwannaberider View PostWhich engine oil did you try?

It wasn't present for me initially but noise came after 600km and it always increased from there. I'm really sad about the noise.Originally posted by Sai ashish View PostI m at 4000kms. But it wasn't present for me from day 1. It came only after 600 km. That's why I'm really furious. Can we reduce the clearance in any way?Originally posted by JyotishmanS View PostFz25 has an SOHC engine with rocker arm type valves. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
of course valve clearances can be adjusted and infact should be inspected and adjusted if required say around every 10k km. shouldn't take more than 20 min to get it adjusted assuming the fz25 comes with conventional adjustment nuts and not shims like the ktm/cbr.Originally posted by newwannaberider View PostBut it wasn't present for me from day 1. but first get the bike to good mechanic and try to identify the cause before fiddling around.
i've ridden just one fz25 for a few km, it was a second hand purchase and had done around 6000km.. my only gripe was it lacked a 6th gear and the gear box wasn't as slick as my ktm.. overall a decent bike that can tour (if your ok riding it under 100kmph) and do city commutes with ease. it was part of a recent 2200km trip to goa we did. that bike is now at the svc for a starter clutch replacement, and prior to that it went it for that recall, iirc they replaced/tightened certain bolts.
here is a link to the recall:
Please enter your chassis number to see if your SC125 is affected and needs a replacement of spare parts. Replacement of these parts shall be free of cost.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
That's normal. The engine isn't placed properly at the outset. And then, it takes atleast 7000 kms to completely set in. You'll yourself agree that the bike is getting smoother after that. Just keep using mineral oil till that mark.Originally posted by newwannaberider View PostBut it wasn't present for me from day 1. It came only after 600 km. That's why I'm really furious. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
My observation is vibration at 5k rpm reduced to a mild buzz now after 8500km. Tappet noise reduced and fuel should be more than half of the fuel Guage for good response from throttle and engine . Also 100 to 115 speed is easy now without much stress on engine. I'm using stock oil and it's been great now to ride the bike. Only thing is mileage has dropped by few km. Have to get the air filter replaced and fi system cleaned during 3rd service.

You can contact Autologue Design on Instagram for this. Or else, you must be having local motorcycle modifiers in your city.Originally posted by newwannaberider View PostI hope that the engine gets smoother and coin rattling issue solves over time.
Is there any under engine guard available for the bike so it doesn't scrape on bumps?

Here's a question. Have you been facing throttle lag in the 2.5 to 3k rpm rev band? I am, and my guess is dirty air filter and fi pump.Originally posted by Shamanth Gowda View PostMy observation is vibration at 5k rpm reduced to a mild buzz now after 8500km.
