Hi. The last time I changed my front brake pads at around 10000km. The service center used part number 2GSW00450000 at the rate of Rs 166 I didnt really check it back then.

Now I realised those pads are hardly wearing out. Lol. Brakes are soft but for my riding not bad at all. Doesn't lock up easily. The correct part to be used is B97-W0045-00 at Rs 428 last I checked. I wouldn't recommend using the other one but it works. No accelerated wear on the rotor either.

On another note do check that they put the shims and spring back on when they do a brake pad replacement. On my rear just realised they missed the shims.

I think the front brake pads are sintered. Not sure, but for me, they have lasted 15000 kms, and still good to go. The ones you have fitted will surely not last as long. They showed it to me in my last service and they're organic.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find the time to visit the SVC. I'm planning to go down there sometime next week.

But after the adjustment the SVC did roughly a month ago, it has a mind of its own. Sometimes it feels correctly aligned while other times it reverts to how it was before. I noticed that it feels normal (correctly aligned) with a pillion at all times.

Definitely something weird about the suspension on some FZ25s. Either the triple clamps have some kind of defect which leaves them unable to firmly clamp the forks, or the fork tubes themselves have some bend.
Yes after alignment it stays normals for some time and then back to crooked, and with pillion it feels better but not completely straight.

Does your disk brake side fork bottom clamp look different ? If you look at it from the top while seated, does it look like it won't be able to clamp the fork? Mine looks like that but the ride is perfect. No issues so far. But I can imagine if it was worse for some reason it wouldn't clamp the fork tube. Just a thought.

A brief history of the incidents my bike has gone through(12k kms on the odo) ->

*Fell towards the side twice. Once due to improper application of side stand. Once during a small accident.

*Once the front end kind of crashed into a deep pothole at around 40 to 50 kmph.

As per SVC, the forks are slightly bend.

I just have a doubt regarding the front brakes/forks.

            1. The front end very very slightly goes to the left or right when I apply the front brakes. At times even for light applications.(so its not wheel locking problems)

Another thing I tried was, coasting slowly on a downhill road and switched off the engine(made sure the road was clear with no problems to try this). -> I noticed a very slight vibration on the handlebars and sound coming from the front end. I tried this because even when I move the bike around by hand I can hear some small hissing sound. The front brakes squeal a lot ever since the pad changed, but the SVC tells its because of dirt and they even did an overhaul as well, without much reduction in noise. Its been 2.5k kms with the new pads.

I changed my pads before its life ended, with the SVC advising that I can run for an extra 800 to 1000k. So I believe disk should not be having issues.

The straight line stability at 100kmph+ speeds are still good. It's only when I brake that I face this slight instability or lack of sure footedness from the front end.

Could it be the forks or my brakes alignment issues or something else.

            2. During my 4th/15k kms service. Is it a must to replace the fork oil?

            3. If so, the service adviser told that he would get rid of the bend in the forks -> Is this advisable?. I don't find any stability issues, but yes, I do feel the handlebar is minutely angled towards the left.

If anyone has had any similar issues or can give me a better idea of how to present it at the SVC during the next service, would really be helpful.

I would say yes from my experience . Otherwise if the seal goes risk the spring getting damaged and the bill becomes more.

I think what he would do is attempt to align the forks by rotating it. Am not sure. But any straightening not a good idea. Not too expensive for new inner tube.

Replace the fork oil along with the fork oil seals. It's supposed to be done every 10k kms. I did mine in 12.5k kms. It was no longer oil by then. It was sludge.

Hey guys i need some help. I recently got my fork seals and fork oil (and dust caps) changed. Not only did the mechanic disagree with me about the quantity of oil (which i showed him mentioned on the service manual page posted in this thread), but now i'm getting this woosh sound whenever the fork compresses hard. Its more prominent on the left side. I read around about how its the sound of oil being forced through a tiny hole for the dampening effect, but it never made this sound before. Also, im getting a slight wobble on highways now. What can it be? Is it just air trapped? Are the two troubles linked?

How much did he pour! It's strictly supposed to be 469ml for each fork. The problem correlates to the fork oil. Write a mail to Yamaha India. Make a demand to talk to their service manager and complain about the the service centre and the mechanic.

He said they pour 350ml! I told him to pour according to spec. Showed him the figure. He said its only meant to be that much when entire oil is flushed out. Then he checked by compressing the 350ml fork and comparing with the other unopened fork and it was super soft. So he filled more. Not exactly 469 though. Added like 70ml more pretending to know what hes doing. I've started working on my bike on my own regarding most things after having similar experiences at 3 svcs now.
Does it explain the wobble? And the woosh sound? Now I'm about 70km from the svc i got it done from. And they obviously kept the leftover fork oil. So im thinking of going there once with the invoice and telling them of doing it right. But i recently bent my front wheel a little because of a huge pothole in an otherwise perfect road, and am waiting for the nearby svc to get the wheel delivered. My fz25 goes through so many troubles

There is another way to check. With the fork off the bike and without springs, and compressed, from the top to the oil level should be 75mm. Pump the fork a few times with cap off. Wait 10 mins before measuring if you have just poured oil for the bubbles to settle. This is what I remember from the factory manual.

I don't know if it explains the wobble or the sound. It could. Other more experienced riders here will tell you about that. Call Yamaha helpline number.. Look online for it. Give them hell

Completed 6000+ kms on my FZ25 white. Second service was performed at home. Engine Oil replaced with Shell Ultra full synthetic which i got from amazon for a discounted price 1 ltr priced @480. Chain was cleaned thoroughly using kerosene and lubed with motul. Oil filter was replaced and also Air filter as it was completely covered with oil and does not seemed to be in good condition. Engine has become butter smooth, gearshifts are also smooth. Good throttle response and average Mileage of 34 constant as i rev it above 90 all the time. Pretty satisfied with the self service. No Tapit noise neither any coin rattling sound.

Has anyone here serviced the brake calipers and master cylinder yet ? Some dust seal and o seal due for periodic replacement and I wanted to know what it would cost.

Anyone knows how to access the ECU? Some parameters I think need to be set from the diagnostics screen.
