Why to bother with the settings while on GO?

Yes you are right that given the price we have paid each and everything should have been checked and corrected by KTM prior to launch. But be sure they will come up with a software update soon.

The very fact that every 390 is facing the LED cut off means there's some serious software glitch that they need to update. It's just that people aren't triggering those functions to make the console crash.

His Clock was showing 12:00 while riding, so he thought of changing it. I asked him the same question. But then after spending so much, it should work no matter what happens. Hope they bring out a new update ASAP

          It is very much possible.
Case in point, my d200. It was unloaded from the truck the previous evening (i wasn't present, just the manager confirmed it to me over phone) and the next morning I was at the showroom. All it's plastic covers were in place, the battery unconnected etc.. I personally ripped apart the covers and had the battery connected and then fueled (from a jerry can) in my presence.
So yeh, you can have a fresh piece if you are able to track the bike from the warehouse/unloading point..
another thing is, if the bike has already been fueled then there is a chance it was used a bit (either for test rides or for pdi/delivery from warehouse to showroom)

The TFT is slightly glitchy, hopefully they'll solve it with software updates.

and yes, surprisingly every damn 390 out for delivery had that "ECU FAILURE" message when starting them up. I think it's some stupid logic KTM is using and hopefully they'll push an update.

          Update on the console.

It's really buggy. Damn thing restarted once while riding and my ODO went back 4km!

Really pissed off right now. Two friends of mine encountered the Same issue. Both of them also had their LED's turn off for 10 sec . This issue has also been replicated by some motovlogger on YouTube so im guessing this just a software bug which they should put an update for.

Otherwise, the bike is beautiful, sharper, smoother!

          Will keep updating on this

Wow man, so from one 390 to another Congratulations

          • ODO and Time Reset

            Not a new 390 owner.
But the ODO going blank and clock resetting have been familiar issues to me.
As your bikes are new, there's no chance for the battery to be bad and also wirings to be damaged.
But it could be loose connection of battery terminals (may be other wirings) or might be the battery isn't charged properly (which again in a new bike is not likely)
What I heard about the new 390 was it was so intensively tested to 6 digit ODO numbers, so I seriously doubt this as a manufacturing issue. Could be an issue is assembling.

..... and below is my issue and the culprit.......
In ZMR, I tried to switch between trip meters on the run, I had the entire electronics going off (ODO, headlamp, Indicators all go off and then bike came On with Reset clock and trip meters in a while) but the bike was running.. I thought it might be the battery but NO.
Then again this happened but this time it happened just like that, I didn't press anything, it went blank and came on.
Checked battery but it was good. After few days it happened and blew the fuse. I changed the fuse. and it blew the replacement as well.
Finally decided to check all the wirings and one wire has been jammed between the fairing and tank, it had the plastic outer torn and the copper thing making contact with body of the bike.

Hi Niku, thanks for your input.

The peculiar issue in this case is that as long as you don't trigger the crash, it won't happen. I mean, you have to do certain things to trigger it.

Yesterday, while riding I received a call and the moment the console displayed the number, it crashed. So, I'm guessing the software has a lot of bugs. I've contacted the service center and they're getting things ready to produce to the main head of South India.

At least they seemed interested to solve the issue because the complaint was taken very seriously since it's a new bike.

motorcycle.com has given a glowing review to 390.

as for dash, if these are software bugs that appear randomly then i think its not a big deal. an update will probably fix it.

as long as there is no mechanical problem its fine.

An update on the issue I was facing with the TFT LCD.

They replaced the entire unit under warranty, no questions asked. Very impressed with the support they showed me. Bike is flawless now.

Btw, the LCD costs a whopping Rs 19500!!

Ktm should have launched a duke390 in a lower variant also, with the duke250 display and head light assembly.

That could have made 390 more affordable for some.

Chip, appreciate the follow-up. I have two questions, you did mention about your problem, but it wasn't anything that I could grasp of, so if you could please explain what issue you faced with your speedo console, once again and did you ever have to come over the dreaded ECU Error message in your display. And thank you again for letting us know the price of the TFT LCD screen.

I hope vandals don't ever steal it from any of the bikes, if they do so, the owner is definitely in for myocardial infarction.

                          Cheers!

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

When I took delivery, I noticed that the time and date would reset to the default 12:00/ 01.01.2016. Initially thinking its just a goof up at the time of delivery, I set it to the current time and let it be. But then, the next time I switched on the bike, the date and time again defaulted to 12:00/ 2016. This happened a few times and then I encountered a bug in the software.

While riding, If I tried entering the date and time sub menu in the console via the buttons on the handlebar, the entire TFT reset itself (like when you start the bike, the self-check(ready to race thing)). The TFT also reset itself sometimes when I received a call. Note: This only happened if the time was at 12:00, wouldn't crash If I set it up and then tried entering the Menu. Also, it would only crash while on the move only.

During this reset, I noticed something that was a little shocking to come across. Whenever the TFT reset itself, the ODO also went BACK to when the bike started. So, If I started a ride with 100 at the ODO and the TFT crashed at around 150, the ODO would go back to 100.

So, I took it to Indiranagar KTM to get the bike checked. Kudos to them. They got the Bosch Tool updated and now it has tests for the TFT, ABS, ENGINE as well as the LED Headlamp Unit.

Now, Everything checked out fine but the TFT, it threw up the Ambient Light Sensor Error. ( I also faced this issue where the console would remain dark in the day).I told them that I'd like to replace the unit because it was a new bike .So, I was told to ride the bike as is until they could order a spare with a typical wait time of 3-4days. Surprisingly, got a call in a day and got the TFT swapped out. Rohith from the SVC has been of great help! Got a screen guard put this time because it got scratched up real bad on the old one. Only TFT changed, Not ECU.

I just got a defective TFT from the start and suggest everyone to get it replaced under warranty because it's expensive.

I've NEVER encountered the "ECU Failure/ECU Not working" error ever.

Another peculiar issue a few owners including me had was that the LED Headlamp would turn off for exactly 2seconds and then come on and during this time the parking lights stayed on.

The others have got their ECU errors cleared and it hasn't come back. Similarly, once my TFT was replaced, the bike hasn't had any of these issues. Flawless.

One thing I did notice from all these things is that whenever the diagnostic tool was connected to any of the new 390's, the ECU always threw up "CAN ERRORS" and all they did was clear it. Anybody know what this error means?

The Duke 250 display "CAN FAILURE" when on low fuel. Why so? Need to find answers to this.

Its pretty east to diagnose the new 390's and my issue was solved in just 2 days.

I got my KTM a month back. I think it was the first in the country.. Not sure though. Anyway, finished about 2300kms. Love the bike. Have ridden the older 390 extensively. So I really appreciate a lot of things in the new bike.

But these are the issues I have faced -

                                1. ECU failure - Around 1700 kms, on a hot day, I got home after riding for 30 kms. As soon as I got home, the bike switched off, showed up ECU Failure. I switched off the bike and switched it back on. The warning stayed on for 5 seconds. Then the engine temperature started cooling down.. And about 20 seconds later, bike started.
                                This happened only once.

                                2. Headlight switched off - Happened yesterday for the first time. LED switched off for 2 seconds and came back on.

                                3. Date & Time fluctuation - I don't exactly know how to explain this. I have a video of it. Basically, the date changes randomly to 17.17.2017 and the time changes to 17.17 for about 2 seconds and goes back to the original time. This happens everytime during the ride.. And it happens every 5 to 10 min intervals.
                                Attached an image of it.

                                4. Bluetooth issue - I own a OnePlus 3T. Although it connects to the bike, the tft doesn't display the number. That I can deal with. What's sad is the Bluetooth audio is not routed to my sena Bluetooth headset in my helmet. When I try to connect both devices to my phone, one gets disconnected.
But with an iPhone, the ktm and the sena connect together and when you answer a call, the audio is routed to the Bluetooth.
It's just weird that they wouldn't consider android to work on the same lines.

Apart from this, I haven't faced any issues. I'm planning on a longer ride soon. I'm hoping I don't face any more issues.
