Clean review and welcome to the family. Do post some pics of your ride in your Initial Experience post.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Awesome! Enjoy the bike, but do be careful at high speeds the front feels light and doesn't inspire much confidence

How does the high speeds compare with the d200? Obviously the 250 has the new frame and more power , but there shouldn't much of a difference in the top end?

Got mine (duke 250 - orange) delivered on April 25th (From hyderabad - jublee hills showroom). This is just my initial impressions and findings which are prone to change over more usage of the vehicle. I have driven the bike for 150kms over the past two days (thanks to a sudden escalation in my wife's office).

congrats. i am also in same boat as am looking to upgrade from r15 too. my experience with yamaha has been positive so not averse to fz25.

might i ask did you test rode duke390? and fz25? why you chose d250 over these 2?

            thanks

Thanks man. I did not test drive FZ25 since I did not want to get tempted by it :-). We already have 3 yamaha bikes in our family (FZ16, R15, alpha). But you should check out the FZ25 since Japanese refinement holds its own ground. Duke 390 I took a small test drive. Thats an awesome bike - the tech, the acceleration and exhaust sound. But I felt I do not need 390 madness since I use mostly in city bumper to bumper traffic. Also thought it might heat up a lot in city traffic. I actually went out to book 200 and after taking the test drive of 250 booked that instead. So summarizing I did not put FZ25 and Duke 390 in the equation.

When it comes to practicality with minimal fuss and if you're a rider who prefers peace over power. Then the FZ250 it is. It's based on a proven platform, it's a simple air cum oil cooled motor, which can be thrashed all day long with no fuss. On the other hand the Duke is hot, instant, and temperamental. If you'd want a commuter horse that equally doubles up as a weekend warrior and tourer with a proven engine like the Pulsar 220 go for the FZ 250 cheap, economical and more or less does what the 250 does.

                Cheers

i understand this. i too have only ridden only yamaha bikes from rx135 to r15. was looking to shake things up but fz 25 is looking pretty good.

i enjoy 390 a lot but that tft dash is giving me second thoughts. i live in a rented place and park bike in front with no boundry. i will be able to perhaps keep bike safe but lcd will be stolen within a week.

so considering 250. will test ride to see if it handles superior than fz. have ridden fz25 for moderate length and have some handle on its capabilities.

having replaced my TFT once already I can tell you that you need to be above average strength wise to try and rip that LCD off.

you mean its impossible to rip it or it requires effort?

thieves in Gurgaon are not exactly lacking in motivation.

Yup, it takes a lot of effort. But the dedicated one is going to get it no matter what.

might i ask did you test rode duke390? and fz25? why you chose d250 over these 2?

                          thanks
D390 is a monster and the 2017 upgrade puts it above everything (at least sub 500cc) , I would choose d390 over duke 250 or fz25 anyday just because it comes with that stunning look apart from the looks it has that incredible power difference and ABS. Frankly there no comparison with fz25 or D250 with D390, being said that the real comparison is with D250, Fz25 and Dominar.

i know 390 has power. i will buy it at same price with d250 console.

today saw 390 on road. console looks gorgeous. its exactly sort of thing that gets stolen most. just pick it up for quick bucks. no paper work or any other hassle. where i live in Gurgaon, bike thefts are common. will not invest in 390 unless it becomes certain they are not interested in it.

ktm shouldve given it a thought d390 is not a super exotic machine that only ppl with more money than brain will buy

d390 should ideally try to be your only bike that one can use for buying groceries or commuting daily. even a poor guy like me can afford it after streching budget a bit and saving up for a few more months.

                                Re: 2017 Duke 250

Got my Duke 250 Last Friday..and this is my "First Bike"...Here are some of my initial expressions with the bike..( I am not tat much good in bike riding.. But these observations may help someone..)
                                .
                                1) Felt that Rear Break is Somewhat not good..Front one is good though

                                2) Power Delivery is superb

                                3) Way smoother than D200 ( have driven my friend's D200)

                                4) Heating...Yes, it's there after 20-25 mins of normal ride..Heat is bearable but not tat radiator sound..bit annoying..

                                5) Feel of the bike is very light.. Although it weighs 162kg it never feels like a 160+kg bike.

                                6) Clutch is very light and gear shifting is smooth.

                                7) Bike looks best in White

                                8) I am 6 feet high and I feel comfortable while riding. No cramping at all..

                                Some Pics:
