And with RE 2.0 being all hyped up I want to see what is it exactly that they have in plan. I am hoping they come up with something exciting. As for the desi angle, I know it sounds ridiculous but that's the way I roll. If the Mojo is anything to go by, I have been given to understand most components are made in China and the bike is assembled here. Makes sense to do the same thing with the Jawa as well. Somehow it doesn't go down well with me :P Phone and computer is already made in China. Bike bhi?
Talking about "Made in China" parts... Even Yamaha R3 has many significant parts Made in China, Like the Alloy wheels, Chasis components, etc. And all are of excellent quality.

And it still costs 5 kidneys?
There is a reason why Yamaha failed to capitalize on a product that could kill Ninja or CBR or RR310 or G310.
It is the most costliest bike in its segment. Even the supreme money minded Kawasaki has sense to localize some components of Ninja 300.
The title of milking the customers till no drop is left goes to Yamaha India.

There was a time when even royal Enfield had waiting period of 6-8 months..!! Its not fair to judge a bike without even testing it and directly comparing it with something already established..!! Give it a time, let it grow..!!

And even though parts for mojo and R3 are majorly sourced from china, but please let me know how many mojos and R3 had a breakdown somewhere leaving the rider in difficulties..!! Every bike is good in some way, lets not judge it..!!

Now here is the Fun part- The Chinese OEMs are priced way cheaper, The Bike is expensive due to the Parts imported from Thailand and Japan.
I am not defending R3 here, just letting you know, that Chinese parts are of great quality aswell and very well priced.
Now Talking about Kawasaki- well, do some research on the maintenance part. You will know which is more value for money.

Umm, I said Kawasaki is costly but they slashed prices by 50K.
I don't think the servicing will cost 50K within 3 years to negate the price difference from the start.
              R3 - 3.5L ex-showroom
              N300 - 2.98L ex-showroom
Onroad prices will have even more price difference.

Slightly deviating from the point here though. Mahindra was not prepared for it and played up cards really bad.

I never said anything about quality. I am merely talking about where the bike and its components are being manufactured. When the Modi government talked about Make In India, everyone went around thumping their chests. Of all people, I didn't expect Mahindra group to go to China. We are capable of manufacturing great products here and we should. Why go to China and hand over our b*lls to them?

I am not even going to get into the servicing aspect because there is NO service from Jawa yet. RE might not be the best but I can't compare it to something that doesn't exist.

As for Jawa's sales, I didn't get any communication from Jawa that I booked a bike. As an early adopter they should be cajoling me. Except for the booking receipt and an SMS, I didn't get anything. This is a brand new product and they are expecting customers to wait 6 months. They can't take it for granted that the customer will stay that long with zero communication.

Also I find the Jawa Showroom in my city, no different from a RE showroom. When the boss isnt there, the salesperson doesnt give test ride, saying come after 3 pm and keep on sipping tea. And the bike is standing right infront of us, perfectly alright. Even that guy seems like an import from a RE showroom. I had gone with my friend, who never bothered to take a look at the bike again. Got a Thunderbird.

lol the sales guys should have also stayed with RE

BUT all jokes aside, I really hope it's a great product. Always nice to have good competition.

There's a user on tbhp who had shared two weeks back that his bike has been ready for delivery (& payment made) but he was going to pick up later as he was traveling till 15th. Had asked him to share a short ownership description but it's been two weeks and no response from him yet

Btw I had canceled my Jawa 42 booking (made on 17th Nov) in mid May. But two days after my cancellation, I got a call from the local Jawa dealer at Chennai (Adyar) inquiring about the payment and delivery options. I informed them about my cancellation and they cut the call; didn't really get to ask them if they were ready to deliver or it was just a payment inquiry. Back then I assumed deliveries were picking up, but still no ownership records on any forums!

                              Woah!
All that hype and super customer friendliness is gone for a toss.
They might have ordered the bike and when you informed them about the cancellation, they'll allot it to someone else and get in their good books.
Lost one, got one - they are happy about it.

I went to the showroom today for some unrelated enquiry and the sales guy again claimed that customers who were promised delivery in 8-10 months are getting their bikes in 6-8 months and those who were promised 6-8 months in 3-4 months. I haven't actually seen anyone take delivery though.
