Also...which brand you got for the breakpads?? Are there any other brands for TVS 180 available? (both front and rear)
yea man, between my 4th and 5th servicing i gave it to a private mechanic and the result was damn good, planning to shift to castrol/motul(will try both)...

@Tachyon,yes it includes the sprockets, hmm i recently found out that break pads have many brands, recently saw kevlar break pads ... well i went and asked for break bads in the showroom and they didnt give me any brand options, just gave me the regular ones
by the way, do you think these ones are bad, wanna suggest me something better?

no yaar...mine has completed just 7.5k...i heard about the brakepads from my friend....that ****** has booked harley roadster !!! (just little jealous!! )...and he keeps going on and on and on about these stuff...so i checked and found in DSG site about the kevlar ones...but they all mention the big brands...nobody says anything about our menace... ..

hey...one more thing...just an advise...change the oil to motul or castrol active.....i use power 1 and it takes lot of time for break-in...i plan to change to motul synthetic now... ..
It takes more love to share the saddle than it does to share the bed :)

        about the oil, sure mate

today i was gonna replace the chain/sprockets etc,..
and i thought why not try a private mechanic...
asked him to check a couple of other problems in my bike and returned after the time he mentioned, and to my surprise, the bike was god damn smooth and freaking powerful, it felt better than what it was during delivery, and he gave a nice polish(dont know what he used) and the bike was shining like new and the total cost was just 250 rupees (he carges a little less if the chain replacing thing isnt there), and yeah... my clutch plate kept slipping all the time(previously) and now its very much under control

Well, tell him to tune the carb, and have you fiddled with the carb tunning before?Check whether the tyre pressure is at recommended levels.I would say lube the chain every 500-600kms.

EDIT:Nowadays,my bike has started giving hiccups in between 2.2k-4krpm range.Previously, there was some water in the carb jet,so I thought it would vanish, but its still there even after cleaning the carb.Cleaned the air filter, carb(tuned it again),fuel sediment bowl after that.Dont know what the problem is.Any inputs on this guys?

Facing the same issue for some time now.. .my mech says its due insufficient compression at low rpms.. will need to check the valve clearance and timing etc... maybe to the extent of replacing them.... Next week I'm giving the bike for this...

                    • the tyre pressure is 100% perfect. i dont know wheather my local mech has fiddled or not but i certainly havent touched the carb....i think it could be the culprit.

same issue in mine as well....have observed that these hiccups are usually during the mornings or in evenings when you have left bike on stand for few hours...have told the SVC many times but no solutions...appreciate if anyone finds any solution and share it to us all...

Ok,will check it out with my mech.Need to buy feeler guage for that as the mech wont have it.I guess TVS SC wont do this for me,right?

Odo reading is around 8k kms.Nope, used it for a few days & removed it again cause of the hiccups even though upjetting was not done. Will do that after these rains end as the filter gets clogged due to water.

                            • Guys, yet again I'm facing the issue I had in Jan this year... though I hope its not that extensive... significant drop in engine oil level, oil in combustion chamber ( spark plug looks like its been dipped in oil), and white smoke in the exhaust. Hardly 6k kms with the new cylinder kit, properly run-in, oil changes at regular intervals... I guess taking too much care of your bike is also not good...
Any ideas/suggestions on why this is recurring? The root cause must be something else right? Maybe a busted oil pump? But that was checked at every engine service, where the mech would loosen the nut of the oil pipe going into the cylinder and oil would always gush out... This is just so so sad...

maybe the piston rings may have gone kaput, put the bike on center stand, keep your hand near the exhaust pipe outlet and rev the bike,if some black mass is accumulated on your hand, then the piston rings have gone kaput.Or may be the cylinder head isnt tighten enough.check the engine head for any oil leak.

Cant say about the busted oil pump though.

If the mech doesnt have the gauge then how come he set the tappet clearance?
I guess water got through the K&N filter and water must have been the culprit, advise you clean up the carb.
