Adjust the AFR SCREW manually, turning by a clockwise rotation will reduce the RPM during the idle.

Hey guys, I am a college student and am looking at some Pre-loved Apache RTR as my daily commuter. Are there any particular things which i should be on a lookout for. What is a decent price for a 2011-13 RTR 160/180 ridden in the neighborhood of 30,000 kms. Are RTR prone to maintenance, also what mileage can i expect from them.

As I'm owning an Apache for nearly a year I'm pretty sure that this bike is reliable and maintenance free (mean no much maintenance cost) one can feel it generously.

Coming to your query the Apache 160/180 could be a great choice for you . The exhaust of those RTRs are very much loaded with bass.

You can check for the pre -owned bikes for sale in selling bikes thread or from olx.

Just check for the engine response/condition and whether the bike is regularly serviced or not and registration docs. (it's necessary) I don't have idea about pricing but months/years of usage could determine it.

For example a 2017 model apache 160 which has done 30000 kms on odo can be bought for ~25,000-30,000 Rs. Or less even. It solely depends upon the condition !

        Cheers,
        Ride safe.

Hi guys, I'm planning to get my bike decarbonised since lately engine feels old. Never felt the need earlier.
          Current ODO is 47k

any idea on costs and related things that can be done together?
intention is to get bike close to new state.

approx cost and SVC around bangalore would do the help

            Don't bother, its a scam.

Do a bit of research on 'Italian Tune-Up', thank me later.

I was going to suggest just that. Also, I believe one could try some fuel line cleaner.

wherever I search it ends up with suggestions for manual clean up at the end. So this brings me back to same state.
will try some fuel line cleaner in next service and see how it helps.

my main concern is drop in mileage like 8-10kmpl from last 5k kms, lot of vibs have peaked and somehow i feel power is sluggish. It makes me switch gears quite often.

anything else I should give a check?
my bike was serviced regularly every 3k doesn't has any other issue apart from above mentioned ones.

edit: want to try out this

i have completed 41K+ kms on my RTR180ABS from 2011, recently i asked a service center for service, he quoted about 15K, it seems need to open engine and replace quite a lot of parts like piston etc. is it normal or just trying to swing some quick service pennies?
any recommended garage in whitefield, bengaluru side for apache RTR?

If the motorcycle if working fine then don't bother with an overhaul, frequent consumable changes would do just fine.

They did not analyze yet. the moment they saw odo as 41K, they were like we will need to open engine, change piston, check bore, kerb some part i forgot name, it will be be about 15-20K Rs, so i did not bother giving them for service.
regular oil change, disk plate change, kerb cleaning, filter change etc i am getting done anyways from normal garage.
but, currently i am facing a challenge. maybe you guys can help: the cable from the TPS has come lose, don't know how. Saw it dangling down when i saw near the reserve switch. But i am not able to find where that red plug of the wire connects, not able to see any loose cable socket where it might go.
anyone have experience on the same? I have raised the issue in HELP ME section, but seems the thread is awaiting moderation before going live.

Just go to the showroom or stop any random bike which is same as yours, see where the wire being attached [emoji14]

The TPS cable connects to the wiring harness below the tank near the carb. My TPS has been disconnected since over 3 years [emoji13]. No issues, in fact the low rpm surging and stumbling issue is gone since I disconnected it and fuel efficiency is consistent at 38+ (in full Whitefield traffic, and total insane riding + engine braking - shifting at 8+k rpm all gears). If you feel any issue, then get it connected back - 5 mins job at max, otherwise relax since its not critical. Newer Apache IDI unit don't have any connector for TPS it seems, that was told to me by TVS service engineer when I replaced my IDI unit.
Regarding the engine overhauling, get it done only if engine is consuming oil and white smoke is being generated out of exhaust. These TVS service ppl will want to overhaul at any time beyond 35k kms. Once my bike was struggling to rev and very slight smoke at 10k rpm, they did overhauling. Turned out, there was water in the fuel tank due to drain pipe being clogged.

same here, did not realize till now that the cable was disconnected, i enjoy whitefield traffit too everyday to and from office , last friday it started misbehaving, engine gets switched off after about 3.5K RPM on my way back from office. somehow reached home.
thats the reason i visited service center [kaleido tvs near phoenix].

after that 15K quote, took it to a mechanic nearby my house, he kept the bike for a afternoon and analyzed the problem to be the carburetor diaphragm ruptured like 5mm. after changing it it is running fine again. when he removed the fuel tank i saw the cable of TPS dangling, the mechanic did not know where the plug connects in harness. so currently still dangling . LOL
