1) certain modification shops or specific paint shops have something called a paint booth. where the air is conditioned. never to let even a spec of dust to enter.. if there is dust and moisture in the air, they tend to settle between the paint and the body of the vehicle.. thus leads to an uneven coat of paint or may even lead to flaking or chipping of paint.. thus overall, ur money goes to the drain.
2) computerised paint booths have a system where the spray quantity and coat depth is measured by a machine.. in normal booths paint is sprayed manually by a hand held device.. purely based on man..
if he has a bad day at home , or if his hands are shivering, he will deposit an uneven coat of paint.. thus spoiling the finish..
3) paint booths are costly.. but the best...
4) dupont paint is a special kind of paint that is opted to painting automobiles parts . they have a special property to last longer under all weather conditions that mother nature throws at ur bike...
5) cons of painting ur rims : when evenever u have a puncture replacing or repairing the tyre will lead to scratches on ur rim. thus spoiling ur coat of paint..
i also feel the golden colour or the specific colour of paint ur opting for is gonna be costly.. well getting the job done is purely upto u...
hope my words are clear to u..My BiKe DoEsN't LeAk OiL, iT mArK's ItS TeRriToRy !

to paint golden colour on ur alloys, firstly the tyre is detached.. newspaper or butter paper is used to cover the surfaces where u dont want even the slightest hint of paint to be present.. ex : in ur rear disc assembly..or ur carburetor.it would be hell if paint gets into wrong odd places...
paper material is taped.. and at a paint booth, two coats of paint are enough of to finish the job..
here at home if ur doing it urself, apply one coat of paint once in 15 mintues gap.apply thrice or more depending on how well ur earlier coats have settled. . never ever use paint brush.. always has to SPRAY painteD . . .
use automotive paint like chicane said : called dupont. i dono bout pricing..My BiKe DoEsN't LeAk OiL, iT mArK's ItS TeRriToRy !

Letter(In Hindi Though..:P) is rebellious thing for those who think that TVS's Service is not good.
Proud to be RTR owner...

when the engine is cut off, i fell the starer is cut off..it prevents it from further producing any sparks to keep the engine on..
thus the hammer like sound.
hammer striking sound ? try cutting off engine in neutral and in gear.let me know if the sound is still there in both methods... is it too loud ?My BiKe DoEsN't LeAk OiL, iT mArK's ItS TeRriToRy !

Even my brother received a call from Bangalore TVS Office regarding the service quality and the performance of the bike. It's nice that they are taking things up individually in getting the feedback.Originally posted by ultimateracer View PostHi Guys....

Good to see the TVS's efforts, even for the small town like RATLAM.Originally posted by ultimateracer View PostI Received a letter from TVS about Free Service camp held in my city EXCLUSIVELY FOR APACHE...

that sound comes always (90% of the time) when the engine is cut off,and as the NOX said it's a combination of valves, cam and the clutch bang, it happens right from the FIERO days, it used to make EXACTLY the same noice.
No, it's not cuz of the starter, nor it'll vanish if the bike will be switched off in neutral.Originally posted by vid_powerstroke View Postsorry for poor knowledge..

?
check this:
Sprag clutch - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
or google up for more. While u shut of the engine, as the crank speed reduce and come to near zero (to be precise, below sprang clutvh disengagement speed), it tries to rotate starter. Thats why that sound occur. There's lot to it other than saddle....

My RTR 180 till now..........
Hi,
I purchased a 'brand new' RTR 180 (black) on 23rd last month (on road 78600/- incl reg
) in Hyderabad. This is my dream bike and I truly acknowledge that Apache is a wonderful bike to ride till....... .
After riding for few kilometers, I noticed a 'thud' sound when the bike hits even a small pot hole/hump. I waited till the first service ( done y'day) so that I could explain the problem to the svc people and get this rectified. They took down my issue on the work order but to my dismay the issue has aggrevated and along with this the engine vibrations ,queaking sound from rear disk brake and chain sound has also started.Mileage has dropped to 28kmpl. The vibrations on the bike when it crosses 50 kmph ( @ rpm btw 4.5 -5 K) is so much that handling becomes difficult at times. The bike sounds like a flour mill in this speed range ( I may sound harsh but its true).
Is the vibration due to incorrect settings or an inherent problem with the bike itself ( as I see on various foums
).
Does anyone face similiar problems in their 180. Also, whom to contact for product / manufacturing related issues in TVS. The service people are dumb or too brainy to be contacted. One svc guy checked (shook) the indicator lamp when I complained about the thud sound and drew a blank face.
Thanks

As far as the front fork noise, there are two steps you need to do which actually worked out for me.
1) Check the steering/handle's ball bearings. In my case, some 4-5 balls were missing and the place was not at all greased.Check it and tighten.
2)Refill/check the front shock absorber's oil level as it might be less.
The rear disc noise is because of presence of dust particles.Use pressurized water/air to clean it off but then you need to do it regularly.
