Yes, it is available with 5W40 rating cost 725 Rs/- , you can bargain for much cheaper. Very good oil, I'm currently using it in my FI.Originally posted by lijok View Post5100 is semi-synthetic rite?? Is Motul full synth available in xW40???Accidents hurt - safety doesn't

Hi Guys,
I am nearing my 1st servicing (due on march 25th).Hence I need the expert comments on Post servicing check up, Engine Oil etc.
Some more queries like I have already posted.
1. The engine is really heating up even after a short drive.
2. Bike is giving some tappet nosie.but I am unable to find a clue.
3.Rear wheel rev. is not smooth..some noise is there.(Is that the disc brake collected good amount of dust ?)
4.Bike engine sound is changed....
..I am clueless about it.
Need your advice at the earliest.
Thanks

1. The engine is really heating up even after a short drive.
Normal, specially in summers, as the air which is cooling it is now hot too.
2. Bike is giving some tappet nosie.but I am unable to find a clue.
Tappet noice is a signature of RTR, as it runs on loose tappets, again normal.
3.Rear wheel rev. is not smooth..some noise is there.(Is that the disc brake collected good amount of dust ?)
Spray high pressure water at the pads, it'll eliminate the noise.
4.Bike engine sound is changed....
..I am clueless about it.
It changes kms after kms, so normal again.

Apaches are very much flickable, so negotiating city traffic is a breeze...Originally posted by pranav_salieri View Post3.why do people keep telling that apaches are very good city bikes and pulsars are good highway bikes?

And in my experience (I own a RTR180), its equally good for highways... I have clocked 10k kms on ma ride in 6 months, mostly on the highway (the sizeable number ie). I've rode from Coimbatore to TVM in 9hrs with no adverse effects on the bike or for me.. its not a cruiser, and so you cannot do long rides sitting up, with arms outstretched... one has to tuck in and put your weight on your ass
else you'll have numb shoulder/arm what-not... Its got great acceleration and great breaks, which I find good both on highways and in city..

When I bought the Apache RTR180 about 1 1/2 months back my main worry was about going on long rides on it. I'm glad to hear that you have done long rides without any major problems to you or the bike.Originally posted by lijok View PostApaches are very much flickable, so negotiating city traffic is a breeze...

The numbness you feel in your arms when riding a sports bike (Apache though not a sports bike tries to mimic the ergonomics of one) is when you are supporting your whole body weight with your arms. This happens when you keeps your arms fully stretched and use only your arms to steer and control the bike. The way to minimize this is to relax your arms and try to take weight off it and use your thighs (grip the fuel tank), feet(press down on the pegs) and body to stabilize and steer the bike. Also bend your arms at the elbow and use your stomach muscles to support your weight (not your ass!). Sorry if I'm repeating stuff that has already been said before.Last edited by rags; 03-24-2010, 02:07 AM.Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

1.whats the difference between an Apache RTR160 and an RTR160 refresh?
Nowadays we get the RTR Refresh the one with the tank fairing/scoop and naked chain case with O-ring chain.Besides that there is not much of visual difference.
2.is the fi system in 160fi a closed or an open loop system(please shed some light on this anyone)
It's an open loop system!!
3.why do people keep telling that apaches are very good city bikes and pulsars are good highway bikes?

Being a short-stroke motor it gives an impression of being stressful and also it has never been promoted as a touring machine. It can easily be used on the highways but in the ergonomics department is where it takes the beating and it actually depends on the rider's fatigue levels of getting used to the bike's ergonomics. As 'rags' mentioned you need to relax your arms muscles while riding on highways.
Thanks, dude!!
I own the RTR 180(actually it's my brother's!!
). Currently working on the 0-120km/r video of the 180!!
