  • I wonder why the deposition of sludge is so quick in the carburettor?
I have never come across any hiccups like this when I used to ride my dad's Splendor and it is a cool 11 years old!!

Thats Not bleeding. In this way, problem wont be solved.

Then what needs to be done?
You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

Even i am clueless about it. Initially i thought to be some ignition mapping issue but later when cleaning the carb solved it got even more confusing. This is the same carb used in older 180cc Pulsars then why is RTR suffering from this issue and that too only at 2-3k rpms.

My Victor only hiccups when the fuel tank reaches 'reserve' mode.

This is not bleeding, and good you didnt poured in DOT4 otherwise it would have been mixed with the DOT3 which is still in the "line".

Bleeding is a lenghty process that involves pumping of the lever, by opening the screw at the caliper end thereby clearing all the old fluid and then pouring in new and the "pumping" it to fill the line.

A cleaned carb is gen good for 3000-4000kms.
But i think the jets in the carb here are the culprit, and are "deposit" prone.

                THANKS A TON.

I was confusing it with the slot in the carb...

Remove complete fluid. Even from brake fluid line. pass some qty of fresh brake fluid and then add new.

                  • @renny - thanks.
i am not pushing my bike beyond 50kmph. it does a steady 47-49kmph @ 3750rpm. am shifting @ 3500-3600 rpm. occasionally pulling up till 55kmph @4100rpm for overtaking & stuff.
so, i am not 'limiting' to any rpm reading but the speed.

@vaibhav - the 1st serivce is at 400km on the odo right?

@nox - thanks. will also keep in mind the pointers you gave before.

Speed has nothin to do with the running in of the bike, RPM has.
If a bike is geared to do 200kmph at 4000RPM then you can do 200kmph during the running in period.

The key is to shift at 4000-5000RPM so that the engine properly bed's in.
