  • Guys My avreage is 35kmpl...no matter how i ride(i usually shift in between 5-6k rpm)....and my idling is at 1.3k rpm...My highway ride is at an average of 80kmph and city is 60-65kph.

    Is this figure 35kmpl ok??

and by the way some updates regarding the Shell Advance Fast Trac 4T which i used during my 3rd service..

1.Gear shifting have got lot smoother..but still i wonder why it is bit sticky at lower speeds??

2.Vibrations have gone down by more than 75% what I had after my 2nd service....Its almost negligible by TVS standards.

3.mileage have gone up by 4kmpl,,i dont know if its the effect of the engine oil or not...prior to that i used to get 30kmpl..
Nothing feels better than to gear up and burn some rubber ! ! !

    • Guys yesterday a strange thing happened. Even after driving RTR in a good high speed with multiple brake and clutch usage on highway at night, she returned FE of 51kmpl. The only thing which was different this time was the fuel, it was Xtra Premium. Before with same setting on the same highway she gave FE of 40 kmpl with normal fuel. This happened first time with me. And high speed m talking here is from 80 to 105 kmph.

Although i too have got worst mileage of 29 kmpl with her, after the SVC guys screwed up the AF settings The only thing i do is keep on playing with AF screw.

Guys if possible could we share the AF screw rotations so that other guys can have an idea and benefit from it.
To begin with m running my bike with 3.25 360 degree full rotation.

@swagat-- How's ur new tyre performing???
I couldn't notice any perceptible difference but then it's slightly better(composed) when it comes to outright grip while leaning around corners.

We went for this tyre only because TVS ones werent too great on wet surface.

Engine oil's hardly contribute in improving a bike's fuel efficiency.

I get 40-42kmpl under high speed cruising conditions i.e riding at 7-7.5/8.0k rpm. Take it over 8krpm and the fuel efficiency drops below 35kmpl.

Just a suggestion, Don't fiddle with AFR settings blindly unless you really know what you are doing.

        • Ride the bike at around 50-60 kmph,it will give a milage of 54 kmpl .
I have checked it a number of times.
I travell daily Cuttack-BBSR(35+35 kms) daily.I observed these....
          SPEED MILAGE
          50-60 kmph - 54 kmpl
60-70 kmph - 50 kmpl(sorry you cannot ride at these speed for long due to vibrations)
          70-80 kmph - 45 kmpl
          80-90 kmph - 41 kmpl
          >90 kmph - 36 kmpl
          When driven very rashly(sudden braking,fast accelaration,Wheelies n all) I get around 32kmpl

          My figures are perfect,as I have tested them,not once,not twice,but atleast 5 times each.

Hey Chicane thanks for your valuable suggestion but what made you think i am doing it blindly. There are many good things i learnt here and fiddling with AFR is one of those. Cann't completely rely on SVC mechs so need to keep on learning from here and there.
I am aware of the facts of AFR on engine and i do keep a check on it.
This time i got the above figures when driven very rashly (sudden braking, fast accelaration).

Its just that many a times i see guys here complaining about RTR's FE screwed up by the SVC mechs so thought of posting it. SVC guys always make the vehicle to run too lean and that take a toll on acceleration, FE, engine performance.

I can vouch for the parts in bold. Even I get similar FE... 50kmpl is virtually impossible in this machine

May be I used the wrong word ("Blindly"). What i meant was constantly fiddling with the carb would hamper bike's performance in the longer run.(Except for those who are into drag/circuit racing). Keep it at an optimum state. If you get the perfect balance between efficiency and performance then try to stick to it.

Chicane its not that changing of AFR is very frequent, its just abt getting the right one. So within a range i changes to see the difference according to the Spark plug colour and ride feeling. And i hope i got the right one.

Fiddle with the setting with 1/4 turn at a time.

The 4 stroke engine wont show you the "boost At the RPM when it hits the sweet spot" like a two stroke but still it shows it.
measure the turns when the engine shows boost (sudden rush) in the rpm and richen it 1/4 more.

You'll get the perfect ever air and fuel mixture ratio for the engine.

Any guesses? 3rd tachometer gone... time to replace it under warranty...

P.S.- I've changed headlamp to halogen, is it going to void the warranty??? Should i change it to stock one before going for the replace???
