And no, you dont have to remove the three small bolts. Just the drain bolt and whatever drains out is enough.

Do i need to replace the spark plug in the 6th service, due this Friday ?

The manual says to replace it during the 6th service (14500-15000kms or 15months) along with the regular works. My ride would become 15 months old this friday

and cross 7000+ kms

If replacing would bring about a tad better performance, i am happy to do it

Tyre is simply a rubber yaar. How can it get bend and not straighten out on its own?

Maybe he was trying to say he'll straighten the alloy. If your tyre is not damaged, then you don't need to change the tyre. Changing the alloy itself will do.

The SVC will change it if its mentioned in the service manual. But it may not give any performance increase if its not causing any trouble in the first place.

Apart from that, do you think TVS will introduce a performance kit for the A180 (and will it be street legal) which was much hyped at the bikes launch in 2009?
Anyway's just a query, i am very much satisfied with the stock performance, which absolutely smoked my expectation

Hey guys... I'm feeling some lag during acceleration of my RTR 180 ! I guess Air Filter needs some cleaning. Any has any DIYs on Air filter cleaning ?? I've read as to how one needs to do... but if anyone has pics to assist, it would be great !!

Lag in pick up.

For the last 3 days, I have noticed an increase in revs, then a drop in pick up and then the bike picks up as if nothing was wrong, after shifting up a gear. All this happens in a matter of a second or 2. Its weird. It feels like the bike doesnt ge enough fuel/ air, not sure. Last week, the bike had stalled after the 1st start of the day. She just wouldnt start. Only after a few kicks and choke did she decide to purr again. Any ideas? Hoping these arent signs of worse things to come. Also, the top speed isnt as it was b4. Did the exact same thing, she just touched 111kmph as compared to 119kmph. Hmmm... would need inputs to get her back to her old self. Just crossed 9k on the odo, and was a complete noob when I got her. Hope my ignorance hasnt impacted her. :-(

Air filter cleaning is pretty easy.

Tools req: A screw driver (with four edges)

Open up the panel on the left hand side. Now take out the air filter holder by unscrewing the four screws. Remove the pads (Wash them with petrol, or shampoo, or surf... and let it to dry completely)

If you intend to clean air filter regularly then you can simply plonk back the cleaned filter and place in back into the bike.
If you are lazy

, then pour some engine oil and rub it into the filter. Traps dust better for a longer period.

Thanks Social... Good to know that Engine oil is not a necessity. I'd rather clean it every 2 months or so! I'm not at all lazy when its about the beast !!

Not sure how much you ride a month. But would not advice to stretch a non-oiled air filter for more than 500km.

About the tyre and alloy problem, give it to SVC, they'll fix the alloy themselves (if they have it in stock, obviously). And, your tyre can be re-used if it doesn't have any damage. What was the reason behind using a tube? Air leakage due to bent alloy?

May be some dirt particle from petrol is the culprit. Loosen the overflow screw (thats what I know it to be called, correct me if I'm wrong) and let some mL petrol drain out. It may remove the dirt particle which could be struck at the jet/needle opening.

yes the screw near black pipe is the one to open to drain the carb . using a T shaped screwdriver helps get the grip needed for the very tight screws like this one .

Ya it's that screw. Pretty tight that screw... and you don't need to unscrew it whole, just loosening it a bit should allow all the water to drain.

Trying spraying WD spray over it... might help. And wrap a cloth over the screwdriver (provides much better grip

)
