Alternative for TVS mineral Oil in the running in period : Castrol Activ Oil After Proper Running in switch to Castrol Power 1 Semi Syn People here just try out different kind of oils, according to that Motul Oil and shell Oil is the preferred one .Use any one from them which is available in your locality.

just to add...3M additive also can do wonders (in terms of smoothness) with power 1.

i have completed four services and still they are yet to rectify the problem, after coming to this forum i have understood that tvs tru4 is not exactly the perfect engine oil, next time ill ask the tvs guys not to replace engine oil and ill use a different engine oil through a mechanic, but even im not sure which engine oil i should use . I want to use an engine oil which does not compromise performance/mileage but still makes my engine/gearbox smooth...

dude! power1 is good...and i have been using it (along with 3M)...but i feel it can still be better....my friend has shifted to Motul 300V and i really liked the feel of his bike (apache 180)...its semi synthetic oil..i plan to get my next oil changed to the Motul only..

also, guys...do remember to get your oil filter changed when you go for change in oil....luckily my SVC has been very kind to me...they did the oil change (power 1) in front of me and advised me on the qualities of various types of oils available in the market.....they agreed that TVS oil is not advisable in long run...still they cannot do anything as TVS is forcing this oil.

You can get it done from a local mechanic. All I (he) can do is that he'll tell the SVC guys not to change my engine oil as I don't ride my bike much so that I can pour the oil of my own choice. See, how helpless one can be in such situations

Anyways, my bike is vibrating badly @ 60+ kmph and it gets creepy above 80-85 The tacho needle is also vibrating like anything past 6.5K. Any suggestions?
garry bro let them do what they want to do means let them pour tru4 at the time of service .and as soon you com out of svc change it to the best one according to you . i do the same i have 4 can's filled with fresh tru4 .

Dude!...no need to waste money on TVS oil too...just tell them, oil change is not required as you got it changed recently. If they shout, call the manager and tell them you changed to TVS oil through another TVC SVC only since the oil level had gone down and needed to be changed. Once you come out, get it changed at some local shops. Simple!

                    • I changed my brake oil today myself and royally screwed up.

Had basic idea about how to do it but the mess was complete. The master cylinder got empty before I realized and all that was left air inside the brake wire and the front brake was useless. No amount of pressing the lever pushed the oil into the system.

Now the bike had only one working brake and I had a hard time (since I primarily use FB) taking it to the local mechanics. But everyone kept saying that the master cylinder had gone kaput. I was about to take it to the SC but realized that it was the weekly holiday today.

Came back home and went about studying the reasons. I knew that the master cylinder was alright, poked around the lever using a screwdriver and somehow the pressure built up in the system.

I quickly filled up the master cylinder and loosened the bleeding nut and changed the oil. The braking is now as good as earlier. Guess I learnt the art of changing oil as well, the hard way.

draining the brake fluid completely do not spoil the master cylinder. But getting the trapped air out is quite a pain. you need to keep pumping the lever like crazy, but ultimately you can do it. The way to find out if its proper is that you dont have any sponginess in the brakes once done...

Changed the dark red oil to a new yellow oil

The TVS OEM brake oil was still ok but the level had come down. Changed it fully... Dunno but the whole change only took a little bit of oil. The bottle I bought was of 250 ml (BOSCH Dot 4) but I think I hardly used 100ml... Now the rest is waste (the fact that we cannot store this thing) Don't think there is air inside since the brake lever is tight and there is no sponginess...

Red is DOT3 and colourless/yellow is DOT4. They say you should not mix these two. I'm using DOT4 for quite some time now. And yeah, i've heard storing it is a problem. I'd suggest you put the rest to use asap... either mess with the rear , or maybe give to someone else in need..
