hello everyone.. please advise on the following matter :- my passion pro 2010 model recently has started to give the impression that petrol is evaporating from the tank. I mean the bike is serviced & taken care of regularly. The riding style & conditions are the same as before, but now it feels like the tank is getting empty faster. The speedometer is not working (some very costly sensor is faulty according to Service Center), so cant measure total Kms ridden on a full tank. I have checked the spark plug, air filter, chain, tyres etc. They are fine. The carb tuning also seems good as the bike runs fine.
Also there is sometimes petrol smell when I sit on the bike. I checked for any leaks but didnt find any. So what could be the problem ?

And please guide on how to check if petrol is evaporating from my bike. Should some part in petrol tank cap be replaced( like the rubber ring) etc. ? Or if there is anything else that is needed to be done for the peace of mind, then please advise.

The asking price for old hero honda bikes in kerala is outrageous.

But somehow I feel that the old pre-y2k splendor has got a raw mechanical feel to it. I have ridden one nonstop from Chalakudy to Pollachi via valparai, ( 130 km ). The engine doesn't heat-up at all. It can consistently cruise at 70-80 kmph, no vibrations and returns 70 plus mileage.

Meanwhile my passion pro gets all heated up, may be due to the catcon. Max mileage it give is 65kmpl that too on strict economy speeds. If i try 70-80 kmph the mileage drops to less than 55 kmpl.

Once I was taken away by surprise when I was doing a friendly race with my friends during my college days. The scenario is like we 6 people on three bikes- my '10 passion pro, a 06' bajaj platina and a '97 splendor. The splendor was carrying the heaviest load as the pillon was 110 kg.

We are at the front line of a traffic signal on the Kochi- Coimbatore highway. First one to reach the next signal ( roughly 2 km away ) would win.

3........2..........1 and the race starts. The Platina enthusiastically Jumps ahead with a wheelie. 0-60, platina wins hands down. Post 60, the passion pro shoots ahead of the platina and the splendor also cathes the platina.

Now I was nearing the finishing line. the passion pro is doing 90 kmph, wide open throttle. The platina was already out of the league and had vanished from my RVM.

I could see the splendor was going away in the RVM. But wait ! Instead of going away, it was chasing me down. My passion pro is pinned at 90, refusing to go any further.

And at about 300 m to the finish line, the splendor gives me a nice fly-by at 105 kmph

I was like....IMPOSSIBLE !

So it makes sense to buy and restore an old splendor as it will only cost half amount of buying a new commuter bike. And I dont find a single present generation 100-110 cc bike which can easily keep up with 150cc+ bikes on the highway and still return 70+ mileage and also has a lot of character.

Hello everyone I came across one problem ii n my bike the engine oil is decreasing by 80 to 100 ml every 1000 kms is it okay or is thier any problem in my bike no smoke from exhaust once I got 680 ml after drain in 2000kms help me

And that splendor not going above 80 is because at 55k his engine will be needing decarb, clutch plate changes and timing chain change. Happened with me when I was new to joy. After 40k bike didn't pull, nor crossed 70. It used to make a racket after 60. Head cleaning, valve polishing and clutch work did wonders. Bike became smooth like the day it was bought

And I still say after 4.15 Lacs km joy is still fresh as I have done regular maintenance.

Does anyone know how tall (or wide) the gears are out of the factory for a 2010 CD Deluxe?

I acquired one recently from a relative and as I had no experience with similar 100cc motorcycles before and was trying how the gears are setup. It’s surprising that even 4th gear works on speed breakers some times with half clutch. I know it’s not good for the engine and was only trying out to see what’s the lowest 4th gear can go.

I also shift up pretty early generally in motorcycle and cars and this motorcycle seem to be made for me with me with me being on 4th gear in no time at all.

Is this normal for these bikes or it has become like this because of previous usage?

Instead of changing the Rubber Ring, (original being good one with unparalleled quality, hence retained)
I took it out.

I have changed the lock set once which also changed the tank cap. Even my bike had petrol evaporation due to tank cap rubber getting hard. Infact my bike had so much loose tank cap that the cap will rattle at 50kph. Changed cap and it was awesome.

Done all these thnigs. After 10km speedometer stops wroking. Again mechanic said replace the gear set for drive.

I feel that Pinion is not fitting properly. May be its seat at base got expanded?

Any rework or Brake plate need to be replaced ?

Tune your carb properly.its too lean tuned as a result engine is heating a lot. Also mileage is less due to too lean setting.
