Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
That swingarm rod is actually a long bolt acting as pivot . Normally there should be no need to change it unless it is very rusted , pitted ( rough surface from rusting ) , bend or broken . After taking the swinarm out clean everything thoroughly with solvent like kerosene / brush and wipe with clean cloth . Replace the worn rubber bushing and other worn parts with new parts and also replace the plastic part that is on one side of the swingarm protecting it from the chain . Check that the swingarm itself is not twisted or bend or out-of-line in any way . Lubricate the bushings & moving joints generously with good quality grease and refit . After refitting wipe off and clean the area so that no excess grease remains visible , this will discourage dirt/sand from accumulating there . That's it .Originally posted by EnigmAnurag View PostAnyone ???Last edited by Pinaki; 09-21-2018, 03:52 PM.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion

Finally got the CD100 serviced. Had to change quite a few parts. Total amount was ~8800.
Rides like new now. Thanks Divya Sharan and ramprasadkamineni for suggesting Royal Motors.Last edited by Shashank K R; 09-23-2018, 02:26 AM.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
I'm curious, what about the timing chain tensioner? Does the motor even have one? Cause I do not recall seeing one on the Splendor/CD/HF motors and for some reason it has never struck me before to ask.Originally posted by Shashank K R View Post5. CamchainMotorcycling Experience:

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Who said it doesn't have a timing chain tensioner. Intact it has one of the most reliable timing chain tensioner. Every part be it tension spring, or pushrod or the arm.
Every part is Individual. That makes it so reliable that it doesn't needs attention until it requires timing chain change. So people don't usually talking about tensioner in these bikes.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. I've never had a motorcycle with this setup, hence was curious about it.Motorcycling Experience:

How many km's on the odo?Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostOne thing to note is that the bike is still running on the first chain and sprockets (at least according to my father, who still has the service bills with him).
Doesn't make any weird noises and still is smooth.Motorcycling Experience:

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
My dad's CD100 is still on third chain, which he claims was made by Diamond or Rollon. He doesn't seem to remember the brand and now even after 24 years and 200K+ chains are still not an issue on old bikes. They last really long.Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostOne thing to note is that the bike is still running on the first chain and sprockets (at least according to my father, who still has the service bills with him).

Wow! Goes to show how spare quality has deteriorated over the years.Originally posted by Shashank K R View Post105000kms.
My CT100B's chain is 25k km's old and it has been dead post the golden quadrilateral ride which estimates life of roughly 20k km's.
For those wondering, it's made by Rollon.Motorcycling Experience:

That's true, the overall quality has gone down.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostWow! Goes to show how spare quality has deteriorated over the years.

My last set of clutch plates lasted only 15k kms, while the stock ones lasted 80k+ kms (would've lasted longer, but I learnt to ride on it plus my friend and I regularly overloaded it with 200+kgs).
