I feel that Splendor badly needs a proper upgrade , and I'd love to see at least 30% reduction in weight , fuel-injection , a better 130mm brake on rear wheels , a better headlamp , LEDs on all the meter-panel lights / tail-light / brake-light / turn-indicators , a more modern battery etc etc . But very unfortunately Hero is not going for such useful upgrades anywhere . Only some cosmetic "upgrades" and new names every year from them , pretty disappointing . When they separated from Honda, Hero had promised a slew of new innovative technologies - but nothing has happened in years . They are playing safe just keeping-up with market demand & reaping profits from their earlier tie-up , instead of investing on research & new innovations . Even the most beautiful colours of the Splendor is no longer in production ! Yamaha on the other hand has taken up weight-reduction and all their models now are 10-20% lighter and consequently their fuel-mileage has also increased significantly . Their 150cc R15S is now only 134kgs , ( with fuel, oil & coolant i.e kerb weight ) .
Yeah. And even the Saluto RX and Honda Dream line up bikes feel much lighter than Splendor at a weight of about 100 & 109kgs respectively. They're much easy to flicker and maneuver. Splendor could use a bit more torque as compared to power, like these bikes. I liked what they did with the iSmart 110 but it's still more weight. My bike on the other hand is about 116kgs and doesn't even feel stable and nimble when compared to a Passion which is like 4kgs lighter.

Sorry about the double post, but once again agreeing with what Pinaki said Splendor fails again in huge traffic density because of the weight. I took a plunge and went in deep city traffic to buy some items for the Janmasthami Puja today. I decided to take the Splendor instead of the Unicorn and I felt really uncomfortable riding it in Buxi Bazar (those from Cuttack or Bhubaneswar will be surely familiar with the name :P sibun & sambit). I'm almost 5'9 and got huge legs. I'm skinny and weigh about 60 but still the bike felt really sluggish and I had to put down my foot every now and then because of the huge traffic density. And this wasn't some stop & go traffic, it was bumper to bumper traffic. Man, this was a real bummer as I had to put down my foot to maintain the centre of gravity again & again, not to mention that the lighter handle bar didn't help to steer. The chasis felt somewhat heavy at 116kgs. Overall, this isn't the perfect commuter or workhorse anymore. The only reason Splendor & Activa sell these days are because they had made a name in the long past. Now, I think I'll hand over this bike to my father and go for something else after I'm done selling the Unicorn.

Good to see that thread is live and updated. I couldn't keep up due to some or other commitments in family and work. Many conception and misconceptions are floating in this thread.

By the way joy has crossed 4 Lacs on odo.
But after that odo has stopped working. Will get it repaired soon.

That Splendor Pro console looks really nice on the Joy. Why didn't you get the fuel gauge to fit on this? Those duplicate indicator tell-tale lights look weird TBH.

Because fitting fuel gauge will need work on tank and also changes in wiring. By the way bike is still on stock wiring. So no tampering

That's great. Also, back in your ownership of the Joy, you talked of a certain mech in BBSR who works on your Joy. May I know where I could find his workshop? I would like to get in touch in touch with him since he does good work according to you.

Also, feel free to clear any recent misconceptions that you come across in the thread.

Got it. The next time I'll pass by NALCO Chhak, I'll be sure to go and talk to him.

Also, guys I've noticed some issues with my Splendor Pro lately:

1. Getting poor mileage in city riding conditions. I put in about 1.3 litres (Rs 100 worth of Fuel) and after riding about 58kms in the city itself, the bike went to reserve again (I filled right away when my bike hit reserve).

2. The engine seems a bit harsh and the down-shifting causes harsh torquey noise.

3. Pick-up seems to have decreased a bit and so has the constant acceleration. This happens mostly in the mid-range speeds when the 3rd and 4th gear are engaged. The bike doesn't seem to be able to maintain a constant torque or acceleration. I have to rev the bike really hard to maintain the speed and this wasn't an issue before. I was riding on the highway today and the bike didn't go any higher than 60kmph even after pushing it hard.

4. The bike seems to be a bit unstable. I checked the handlebar and there's nothing on it. The racer and cones ever changed when I bought the bike from the old owner (May 2018, 26.4K on ODO). Checked the tyre pressures as well. No issues there. Where is the fault? The mechanics keep saying that I'm a lightweight guy and that's causing the issue with flicking. I'm about 60kgs in weight and 5'9 in height. I'm skinny but I've never faced such issues on my old CB Twister.

Now, I'm starting to think that buying this bike was a mistake. It doesn't seem to be a reliable workhorse like the old Splendors. People can sing all the praises they want to but impractical changes have made this bike totally useless. It doesn't feel any smooth like the old Honda engine Splendors and believe me, this isn't the first Splendor I've ever ridden in my entire life.

Would really appreciate if someone could help me out here.

Changed the front tyre today. Most balancing issues are sorted for now. Seems like the tyre was at fault. Should have changed it a bit sooner. The treads were starting to worn out.

If so, what will be all the parts required ? their cost ?
And anything else that I should oversee during the procedure so that any mistakes/errors can be avoided. Thanks.
