Please have a look at the opening of the carb indicated in oval shape. I had just cleaned my carburettor about 500 kms back. It was sparkling clean then. Before cleaning it was too much filled up with such a grime. Whenever I go near bike after leaving it in the Sun I smell a good amount of petrol. I have recently replaced my Petrol tank cap (I thought of it as a probable culprit but even now it smells like petrol near my bike). Why is there such a grime build up near the opening?

Now please do have a look at the rectangular area Where accelerator cable enters the Carburettor. The rubber cover is broken and is peeling out (as a temporary fix I have covered it will Cello Tape as water used to enter in Carb during washes). I also keep this in my probable list of culprits of Petrol smell.

I have enquired in many shops & Service Centres but none of them sells the rubber cover of entrance to Carb. All of them are telling to get a new carb. I am planning to create a rubber cover with Anabond/ Threebond layers placed on the accelerator cable entrance into Carb.
Any ideas
1. to stop the petrol leakage/ evaporation,
2. to stop build up of grime on the opening of Carb.
As this is going to be my next DIY.
That rubber is very much available. The part number is :- 16118-KWH-761.
The part name is cap cable sealing. I will try to ask my friend tomorrow. If he has it will send it to you or will ask him to get it for you.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. The chain cover is new one, all others are painted/nickeld.
Total cost was around 20k.
some more pics.
Old 1st oversize piston(i might have cleaned it) on left & new stock piston on right.
Busted cylinder head gasket which was main culprit.
Head after repair.
I heard there are lot of fakes for USHA piston kits.
I brought complete USHA block-piston kit for 1100(Ram koti, Hyderabad).
here are some pics, can some one identify whether it is genuine?

dumb0 The SAI pipe connecting to carb and intake manifold is either missing or removed. Also if you see the petrol tap is leaking which is causing petrol smell near bike. Change it costs near 80-90rs. The cap is available if not after market ones fit and work with it.

Dear it looks genuine as fakes were made in delhi and box color were bit of yellow types also you wont be able to clearly see 'USHA' written on its hologram, it will look faded types. Whereas, the hologram of genuine USHA will be sharp clear easily visible in light with different changing vivid colors.Originally posted by kathi View PostI heard there are lot of fakes for USHA piston kits.

Check your SP read and make sure you're AFR is set appropriately, and if that doesnt do it, check inspect the SAI.Motorcycling Experience:

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Having some faltu time Sunday today , I sorted out the buzzer . Other motorists were yelling at me for forgetting to cut the turn signal after use , and a few near misses from it too .
sealed up the back joints and wire entry hole with hot-melt-glue .
Took Rohit's advice and wrapped the thingy in it's own polythene package and tie-wrapped it . But I fixed it beside the battery cage , tied to the frame .
This time I took out the spade connectors(f) from the indicator blinker jack and soldered the wires to it ..
So I got a nice clean connection when I put em back in

I guess you have found out the issue, there seems to be a leak in the manifold going to the air box, why not replace it.
As far as where the SAI pipe is connected, I believe sibun and Pinaki would be able to help you as I dont have the same bike.Motorcycling Experience:

The USHA kit is genuine and nothing to worry. You could have gone for genuine as the quality is best now and i am running with genuine bore kit now. Although Usha is best but still OE is also good as it is giving from USHA itself and also from Goetze.Originally posted by kathi View PostThe chain cover is new one, all others are painted/nickeld.

Finally you have gone crazy on bikes like me, paul and shoeb. Whoever visits this thread goes the same way. Nothing new.
SAI stands for secondary injection. Its is the process in which fresh air is introduced into exhaust port to burn any unburnt hydrocarbon leaving from combustion chamber to exhaust. You can see the steel pipe connected to the head of your bike. That is the SAI.Originally posted by dream_victor View PostWhat is SAI pipe ? what does it do in the carb ?I've heard of this term from ASC mechanic but didnt understand anything he mentioned

The pipe that you have mentioned goes no where. Its is air pipe of carburettor and is given their to equalize the pressure in the float chamber of your bike. Imagine you are draining oil from a tin can with a hole. You will see the flow will be in consistent and will be having bubbles. Now what you do is punch another hole in the opposite end to let air pass. the same thing is here. Its helps in equalizing pressure in float chamber when it fills and empty with petrol.
As for the leak, then that is the answer for your mis firing that you have posted earlier.
Your intake valves are leaking which is causing back pressure into intake manifold and thus the misfiring and leakage as shown. get the valves changed and polished.
@ all- i was out of this forum for so many days and i am extremely sorry for that.
