recently this year i did bore work with .25 piston from usha the mileage just around 60kmpl in local riding in markets as it was previously and on high way as usual 67-70 maximum depending upon the braking..

at present i want to change the battery from 2.5L to 5ah battery is it possible as what i have to consider or do changes where and what?
and the budget is also to be as less as possible,

this is becoz i have very poor lighting and problem to ride in night except under street lights which has become little difficult for me with family.

thank you for your valuable suggestions and the mods that are needed..

    Hi Vishal,

You can try to install the Exide Maintenance free 4A battery in tilted 90 degrees in the same slot.
But again there wont be any increase in the lighting I suppose.
You can check the same thread where Shoeb was suggesting a tip to scratch away the grey paint at the tip of the bulb + You can try using the Osram Silver line 35/35 with the new MFR reflector as suggested by one of our senior member instead of the glass one.

The skill of the re-boring job is in doubt. And man Rs.6000 for a rebore is daylight robbery. You can re-bore, change the clutch, timing section and also reset the crank in that amount.

Throw away that bore and right away buy a new bore and fit. Just plug and play. Take it to SVC and make a job card for only Bore change and nothing else.

Thanks for your inputs. The ASC at Chennai were telling me that since bike crossed 35K kms the bore needs to be changed and it will cost around 7K, when i again went to them they told that since bike crossed 55K kms bore changing will not do some engine parts need to be changed as compression will not be there and it will cost around 15K,, what to do, ASC in Chennai are worst and every one in this city looks to loot people. One of my friend is in family business of two wheeler spares parts in wholesale even his scooter makes noise while running. When asked him for guidance he told even he hasent come across any honest & competent mechanic in chennai inspite of being in the business line and every time changes mechanics due to the mechanics resorting to frauds / cheap work which requires you to visit them again and again. One person told that in ASC for 6K you can get whole engine reworked but in Chennai the ASC quotes 15K cant even ASC have same rates in all cities, 100% inflation , isnt it too much????

        hi

thank you very much bros for the replies ^sibun and ^sri19022003 .

i already have got amaron 2.5l battery purchased in march ending 2014 .
        i got the bored my splendor for rs3000 completely changed piston/piston rings/timing chain/ clutches plates/ valves/seals etc
including needed washers both rubber/ matte and also updated the leaky front fork in january2014 itself.
the front fork is leaking now so i have to rework again but will change steel fork tube inverted and fit back as there is no bend in the pipes for the front fork.

coming to the lighting i recently observed checking with my multimeter it was 6v where it have to be around 12v i believe,
so the bulb points also getting 6v and also to battery charging points also 7v.,
horn not working but works when connected to battery with external wire which i tested today 11Dec2014 tested.

i need suggestion on that , can i put small step up transformer for increasing the lighting as is without touching any of the Manufactured system. just for information sake , also i suspect that i need to find the earthing may be happening somewhere or, the possibility where there might be a short.
which also may drain the power causing the voltage drop.

any suggestions should i check the dynamo coils etc?

as it is 2001 model and done really heavy loads, so i planning to go for new rear Tyre and shock-absorbers next along with it i would like to put this lighting system in tact
so i should not be touching for next 4yrs any heavy maintenance ..

thank you for posting your opinions on this and information and suggestion are valuable to me as my pocket is very tight.

i believe my bike total information is clear to understand for suggestions.

        thank you

          Hi Vishal
It cant be 6v. Did u checked accelerating it? What u can do is remove the halogen connector on the back. Connect your multimeter, start the bike and accelerate it to check at how much max volts its coming. If its 12v then its less. It should be around 12.8v~13v.

Next what you need to do is to reach to your regulator and remove the yellow wire from it and then test the volts using the same method. It will give you upto 20 volts of output.
The regulator/rectifier is located under the petrol tank. There are 4 connectors. Red/back/white/yellow. White & yellow connectors both came from the magnet/dynamo. White will have 5v more than yellow one and that is used to charge the battery. 5v more allows the bike battery to charge even at lower rpm. And yellow one goes to your halogen bulb, which is AC powered. If we reverse the wires then headlamp will glow at full intensity at lower rpm@20kph. But on the other hand it will reduce the battery charging at lower rpm but that does not make a big difference unless you drive more at the night and use your blinkers & horns a lot.

Now coming back to the point, only remove the yellow connector, this way regulator will have no control over the output. And you will able to check the max output.

That step up transformer idea will not work here. What you will need to do here is to increase the output volts your bulb from what it is getting currently. First change your bulb to either Philips Premium or Osram Silverstar. Check my signature you'll find a link to a piece of information on halogen bulbs.

Also i would suggest you to use the bullet machismo regulator. That is only the regulator not rectifier. Your current OE regulator may have gone weaken. Its output is less. The machismo regulator will give more output to your bulb and hence will increase the output a lot.

I am currently running Osram Silverstar 875 lumen with Machismo (swiss make) regulator and the output is amazingly superb.

Is it advisable to cover the bike in rainy days? The roof of our parking area is very high, so when it rains, water is sprayed all over my bike cover. I keep my bike covered when not in use.

              Yes without a doubt.
Don't be concerned with the cover but be concerned about the bike.

                Need a suggestion ASAP:

Due to leakage near magneto engine-oil was leaking a bit. After some jugaad from a local mechanic it has reduced a bit. But the oil-level has dropped and is not within operating limits.

Rider of this motorcycle works in shifts seven days a week as a contract employee. So couldn't find a convenient time to check these stuff.

I've below oils ready for top-up at home
                10w30 JASO MB fresh
                10w40 JASO MA2 1800 km old used engine-oil
                15w50 JASO MA2 fresh

Which one should I top it up with?

Why jugaad. The leak can be arrested by changing the magnet oil seal and o-ring kit.

For engine oil use 15 W 50. DO not use used engine oil and also Jaso MB oil. Use 15W 50, no problem, this engine will run.

Do not use CR6HGP as it is the super splendor or glamor plug. It is too long for splendor. Will hit the valves and also piston.

                  Plugs you can use are:-
                  1. CR7HSA or CR6HSA from NGK.
                  2. PRZ7HS from CHAMPION.
                  3. UR4A or U4A from Mico.

Do not use any other plug.

As for my bike, is running smoothly. After plug change and re-tuning bike is running like new.

From some months there was slight sound like tappets hitting on idle.

As soon as accelerator is given bike sounds gets smooth. Ignoring it as was not causing any problem with performance nor on running. Today while investigating the matter it was coming from the magnet.

The cause for it is that the three plates of magnet which are stuck to dynamo, out of it one had come loose. Next sunday will take it to mechanic to fix it .

May be due to numerous times of opening the magnet because of fault of pulsar coil earthing, the magnet has lost its adhesives. Will re-fix it next sunday.

It wld be better to change the magnet altogether rather than fixing it. Otherwise it may break n damage the coil assy.

In hero the magnets are attached to the dynamos and a cover is given which is inserted using plastic inserts. The covers are three metal plates in Joy and a single metal plate in case of splendor and passions.

The design of the plate is such that even if they comes loose it will not come out. The reason for it is that the plastic housing keeps the plate from falling out and also the magnet keeps the plate from falling. The magnet itself doesn't detaches from the flywheel.

SO the cover is only loose and a dash of araldite will fix it. Its the cover of magnet which is loose. Will post some photos when i do the work to make my point clear.

The magnet covers cannot be pulled out even with screw drivers unless the plastic housing is opened for the dynamo.

Will post photos as a picture is worth more than thousand words.

coming online less nowadays , but could not lose this rare occasion to correct your post brother . CR6HGP is a NGK g-power plug , it's the equivalent of CR6HSA standard plug . It's one heat range up (hotter) than our CR7HSA or the g-power equivalent CR7HGP (which I am running on right now ) . Other than the heat range , it's the same as CR7HSA in size etc and shall fit and run in our Splendor/CD engines without any fouling whatsoever . Of-course , it's inadvisable to run a hotter plug un-necessarily . Hero is providing this hotter cr6hsa plug for their pleasure scooter and not the 125cc super-splendor .

On a seperate note - the g-power is a gem of a spark plug for the lowly price it sells for . Needed no re-gapping or cleaning every time I checked in in the last 9000+ kms of use (amazing!) , and it performs flawlessly all the time . The firing tip is always clean and whitish - indicating that it is reaching the self-cleaning temp at the tip , much unlike all the standard plugs I've ever used upto now on any bike I had .

Yes you are right. But that was a typing mistake as I meant to say CPR6HSA and not CR6HSA. infact NGK has stopped production of CR7HSA and is giving universal CR6HSA. it is the plug for pleasure, old model activa, boxer e.t.c.
