Veedol (tide water oil) is one of the OEM supplier of oil to Hero . Their own veedol brand oil is very very good and priced reasonably . You can use either the 10w30 or 20w40 as per your preference in your Splendor with full confidence . But I've never felt the need of synthetic oil for my Splendor , just any fresh oil before every 2000kms of riding keeps her happy . So I can't say about synthetics .

Pinaki ji has said it , use any mineral ,ss or fs make sure you change it reqularly . These engines are built so sturdy they can take any grade of oil without problems . But recommended grade are

1. For run -in / engine rebuild : Hero 10w30 ( TIDE WATER )
2. Regular city usage : Veedol Takeoff 20w40 , Gulf Pride 20w40 , Valvoline champ 20w40.

I personally didnt find any much difference in mineral or ss , except in ss bike felt little bit more smoother and had longer drain interval . At present i am running Servo 4T 20w40 which is good for 220/- .

Thank you so much for the procedure. I went to my mechanic the next day to rectify the problem. He was not ready to hear
my problem. He told that 'this sound is common'. After that, I thought, conveying my message was waste. So, I told him
atleast to loosen the chain. First, he refused. Since I was very adamant, he did the job. After that, the noise was
reduced for a considerable amount. After this, I was thinking "is this the only mechanic in this town? why dont i hunt for
a good mechanic?". Then, i started searching every nook and corner of the town. By an average count, each street has
atleast 2 two-wheeler workshops but there will be only one bike or a moped and the persons in there were doing every other
work other than repairing the vehicles. After an hour of searching finally i met a mechanic who works on bullets. He was
busy fitting accessories on a new std 350. When i asked him whether he services other bikes, he told yes. I was happy. I
told my problem and after he checked it, he told that my sprocket is at the beginning of worning stage, but thats not a
major problem, you can ride for a good 7000 kms, the chain will not break or fall off. He told one thing very particularly
to me. 'Unless your bike gives you any problems, dont touch anything other than regular maintenence'. Why i am pointing
this , because remember the same statement told by experts in this thread earlier.

The highlight is, before meeting the bullet mechanic, i wemt to the ASC!!! How ever politely and gently i talk to them,
they drive me mad. I told them about the problem. Immediately the guy told to change the chain and sprockets. Also he told
me "usually this chain lasts only for 12,000 kms. I wonder how did your chain lasted this much long". I replied that i
also own a Bajaj ct100, its chain lasted for more than 30,000 kms. He answered exactly like this. 'Sir, that is ct 100 and
this is passion pro"!!! Dont i know that i own a passion pro. Only i know how hard is to maintain a ct 100. New speedo
cable every month, new holes will be developed in the silencer often and it will be gas welded, while riding in rains
either the throttle cable or clutch cable will be cut definitely!! etc etc. See how these svc guys drive us mad.

Now, the bike is good. Same old pick up, throttle response. Thank you @sibun ji.
The smoothness also have retained, and now I am a happy man. The more the bike gives problems, the more I can learn!!.

Guys, I want want to buy new battery for my bike.
The old battery is Exide bikerz the acid one. It cant hold the power anymore because of non-maintenance. My bro never filled it with distilled water and is dead now. Horn doesnt work. Even if i am charging it, it cant hold the power anymore and getting down if left unused.

I'm going home again soon so have to get new one now. I dont know how much dry cells last but as far as what i've heard previously (a myth) that dry cells are not made for overcharging and its life gets reduced if you overcharge whereas non-dry battery can sustain when overcharged.

Today manufacturers were also making non-maintenance battery. I have no idea about their life/performance so need your views on that.

Also which manufacturer would be the best? Have read i other website that Amaron is much better than Exide.

Have looked over to their website and found Amaron ABR-PR 12APBTX25 for this cd dawn/splendor bike.

Here is the link http://www.vicampgroup.in/view-batte...DER%20-%20BETA

There is no specification mentioned. Ideally our batteries were 2.5A. Is there any battery more than 2.5A with exact dimensions fittable for our bikes??

Have heard that previously they were giving 5 years warranty on batteries but now its 2 years however their website is showing 48 months i.e, 4 years warranty and thats pretty good i think.

Please advise on this..

Update: Here it shows 24 months warranty http://www.amaron.in/choosebattery.php

Thanks

Hello experts,
What does these snaps of spark plug after I "re-ring-ed" my piston of Splendor+ convey? (I had not cleaned the plug after the procedure and the firing tips were shining jet black.)

I have been using Amaron for previous three years and am pretty satisfied with it. The original one got kaput within 6 months and after free replacement, it has been running fine.

Get the Amaron VRLA battery, they are best. They comes in two models i.e Alpha series and Beta series. The Alpha series come with 60 months warranty and the beta series has 48 month warranty.

Beta series comes with complaint but alpha series do not require attention till they are fitted. My Joy has Alpha series when Amaron came to odisha and it has been more than six years and still running great. Get the Alpha series even though it cost Rs. 2-300 extra than beta series.

Thats ok as the Non resistor plug will show that color due to higher current because of no resistor. Nothing to worry. Continue using same as the non resistor plugs gives a fatter and stronger current than resistor plugs.

You mean Bosch Mico U4A? I am also using the same plug in my bike. Its good. I used UR4AC for 10 thousand kms and still it was good. Then replaced with U4A just for precaution.

@all, I purchased this gear oil and lithium grease a few months back. At that time, the shop had only 140 gear oil. 90 gear oil was not available. So I bought 140 gear oil. Is it ok? Or should I use only 90 gear oil for chain lubrication? Pics attached below

You can use the 140 grade gear-oil for chains , but the oil may be too thick to enter into the pin-bush surfaces untill the chain gets warmed by riding - particularly in winter when the oil is quite cold out of the bottle . Or you can warm it in a metal bowl before application - that thins it down very nicely and it flows . Once it gets into the chain , 140 oil shall withstand much longer and better than 90 .

I got a SF-Sonic 2.5Ah battery of ordinary flooded lead-acid type last year - working good yet . For around Rs 400 ( with old battery exchange ) , shopkeeper just filled the acid and gave me . I gave it it's maiden charge for 8 hours with my own voltage & amp controlled charger . I am happy if it lasts 2-3 years . Rs 800-900 battery lasting 5-6 years and Rs 400 battery lasting 2-3 years is essentially the same thing , nah ?

It is not a frameless bike. it is a pressed steel frame bike.
Yes the cylinder and the cylinder head are supported by 4 iron rods in the crankcase. there are also hollow dowel pins at the union of cylinder head to cylinder block and at the union of cylinder block and crankcase.
And i think it is same arrangement for splendor and passion bikes. (experts correct me if i am wrong).
But what amazes me is that the whole engine is bolted to frame only at two places for CD-100 not sure how it is for splendor and passion.

Thanks for your input guys. Pinaki yes its essentially the same thing. But i would go for 800-900 wala non-maintenance one as suggested by sibun
As you know guys i am in mumbai and bike is left at home town so can't do any maintenance therefore, the first one would be the best choice i think.
