Sibun in a way you are lucky man that you have got a place where atleast you can collect yourself, here in my state we haven't got any place left where you will find such a place, humas were never happy with what they are, they always try to see in the next day, which hasn't arrived yet and regret for yesterday which cannot be turned back, remaining is the present of which they have no idea and of which one never cares, may it's our destiny to live life this way, some people who understood this thing became aware of themselves, and in ignoratnt people's words becomes enlightened, there is no one who will care for your problems,so it's you who has to care about yourself, as it's you who are nearest to your problems, though i don't know whether i should say this or not but you are always welcome if you want to discuss any of your thoughts with me, be it sorrow, be it pain, be it pleasure, do you know why sitting without uttering a single word uplifted you, because you sat with yourself your innerself, which is the main core of you, when one sits' with oneself all of the energy tries to return to its beginning and hence you feel a kind of relief and unexplainable kind of peace, humans have forgotted to live with there innerself and hence feels all this pain and grief.

Dogs or animals are more sensitive to energy transformation( though not all of them) that's why this dog might have sat with you, being alone and being only with you are two different aspects of life, as you start keeping more and more silent all of this imaginations and thinkings that are running in your mind will increase but slowly they will subside and one day you will find that you are totally thoughts free.

I am getting too long on this subject so i should stop otherwise someone might object, in short just try to be only what you actually actually are, live with Joy with your Joy.

      Bump!

Also, shouldn't the fork oil seals be changes as a rule of thumb even if they arn't leaking during a fork oil change?

Sibun, ksumaker and all the other people here... no one will object anything.... you guys have spoken your heart out... contributed blood sweat and tears...we are proud to have you here.....why do you think everyone on xbhp turns to this thread for advice? the humble hero 97gem... still makes its mark! As for the carb tuning, then check the air screw and change it. The air screw tip would be having some grooves which is not letting the tuning be set correct. Change the screw along with o-ring,washer and spring. Also clean the carburettor thoroughly and do the needful.

As for the fork tool get one or make one that will have pointed square tip. Will post photo if i go to my mechanic tomorrow. And if oil seals are not leaking then no need of changing. A simple oil change job will do.

Not ours but every country history is filled with blood bath and all. Its because we learn from our mistake.

But we have not learned anything as we still are as savage as before. The animals have become more humans and we have become more animals. The greed for money and power has led us to nowhere.

Humans now a days are not happy with what they get but they are jealous of what others get. I am very sad now-a-days because of the very fact that people just measure you in others yard stick. It doesn't matter what you are, but it is more of matter of what you can become. Sadly it is true, and may be someday i can run far away from the maddening crowd to gain my inner peace and self esteem.

May be deep in life we all long that we live alone and just left to ourselves. I am now in that stage when nobody is there to lighten your mind. Instead everybody is thrusting there problems on me to solve and nobody is caring for my problems.

May be this is the part of my life as being eldest in family among all my aunt's and uncles children has its effects.

I come here as a relief to my mind. Similarly i on that day went to that place and just sat there for 3 hours without uttering a single word. Sitting like that for hours uplifts my mood.

But there were a few dogs roaming here and there. Out of them there was a young dog most probably 8-9 months old and he was looking at me. I just signaled him with eye as to what you are looking. I do not know what he understood, he climbed on the place that i was sitting and came near me and sat by the side of me. That small dog really uplifted my mood.

People who have come in contact with me say i am very silent, do not talk much and sometimes think me lunatic as to i talk with dogs, cats, cows. But they do not that while i remain silent, a lot of things run in the brain. My brain is constantly busy thinking on lots of things. Even when i am in sleep i will be thinking about many things. Thats why i am silent as i am busy thinking in my mind.

May be you all will be surprised as to why i am typing all this, but i think it is on this forum that i can speak out the things that are in my mind as nobody hears my mind and here i just speak out to clean out my mind. Sorry if i am boring you all.
Hey thanks for the reassurance Sibun, I'm sure I can get the fork overhaul right the next time. I don't know whether this is really necessary but most tool stockists have tools for different bikes, and often ask for which bike. This has got me really confused as I thought just the shocker tool with the pointed square shaped end does the job on all bike's fork setups. eg. Rx have a shocker tool with a 14 sized Allen key at end and then the conventional pointed square end for tvs-suzuki, Bajaj and HH bikes and another tool which is for some tvs bikes. Here's a pic of the tool I have.

I guess I have the right toolset but not the right skillset

About the air screw setting is it 2 or 3 turns out?

Sibun , I guess you're a loner too like me and share a significant chunk of your time in solitude. I do a lot of touring to distant places to escape the worries and find peace when I visit the ancient forts, other monuments of historical significance coz it keeps me motivated and going. In fact I'll be visiting your hometown by end of this year, I'll be touring on my ZMR and am looking forward to see the ancient Barabati fort and significant ruins of ancient ruler Ashoka and his lost kingdom. Sorry everyone for going off track.

The rim size that is optimal for the tyre is given in the tyre manufacturer's specs - so check that .
But I don't think it shall work because 1) 100x18 tyres usually requires an 2.00-2.15 rim for optimal fit 2) that thick a tyre may rub on the swingarm etc parts . Splendor's rim size is 1.6x18 . Optimal tyre size is 2.75x18 . Tyre sizes that fit are +/- 1 , i.e 2.5x18 , 2.75x18 and 3.00x18 .
            You meant 100/90 x 18 , no ?

Your tool is correct. You are lacking the skills, which i am sure you will gain in a short time.

Thanks for those words, but i am not a loner but just that sometimes i feel alone in this crowd.

Any day you are welcome to Odisha and see its rich heritage in grandeur. Many come here just to have a look at its rich history. You are also welcome, as we can also meet.

No the 100/90 will not fit and will ruin the crank and swingarm of bike. Best is 3.00-18 tyre for the rear.

And for the oil seal no need to change if it is not leaking. Do you change the kick oil seal, gearbox shaft oil seal and front sprocket oil seal when changing engine oil. Similar thing here.

Unless and until they leak or need opening of forks for servicing they need not be changed. Simple oil change is more than enough.

                @all-

Thanks for all those words, but guess you mistook my thoughts. I didn't say that no body is in my pain and sorrow. In fact in my whole family which includes my maternal uncles and aunts, all love me a lot. Infact they love me more than their own children. My younger cousin brothers and sisters obey me a lot.

Nothing is a problem. Just that sometimes i feel to be left alone where i can spend some time with myself, my thoughts and collect myself.

Moreover all my best friends have left bhubaneswar to far off places for jobs. So now i am alone and thus our gang is broken. So when i go to any place in bbsr i feel lonely as immediately thoughts come in mind when we used to hang off at that place.

My best friend is in bangalore with whom i used to bunk classes for movies, going on road trips and all. So u feel sad collecting those memories.

Its the other way around. The joy has made me a legend here. Its was already a legend.

Do you know when it was launched the tagline was"DUMDAAR HUMSAFAR" meaning strong 💪 companion. And ya it truly is. Going to touch 4 lacs on odo but still rock steady as new from factory.

May sound stupid but I have never owned a Splendor (or the other 100 cc Hero Hondas). My first bike was a RD350 followed by a CBZ, RX100 and an Enfield 350 which I still own. So I was planning to buy a Spendor. Now I am getting a 2001 Splendor with 55K Kms for Rs. 13000/-. The engine is perfect but the bike needs a paintjob and alloys. Is it worth it or should I go in for a brand new Splendor pro for Rs. 54000/-. Or is a Honda CD110 Dream / Dream Yuga / Dream Neo for a similar price. Also the new Splendors are Hero without the Honda.

For 13k it is a good deal. Do not go for alloys but change the spoke and rim. Works cheaper and looks good on splendor. For repainting ask the painter to use 2k paint and use oe stickers. But if you want go for spledor pro. New bike is best. Hero is still the king in quality even after Honda left it. After all you can never go wrong with splendour or infact with any hero bike.

The changes between Joy and Dawn are not many but still some are:-

                                1. Dawn has bigger drums at front than Joy,
                                2. Front shocks of Dawn are thicker and from splendor and Joy had shocks from Cd 100.
                                3. The meter console of Joy has a illuminated logo of Hero Honda while in Dawn that logo is not illuminated.
                                4. Dawn had 2.75-18 and 3.00-18 tyres as OE while Joy had 2.50-18 and 2.75-18 as OE. I changed to 3.00-18 at rear.

                                Rest all are same.

Yes it is possible to change to older silencer and remove SAI but that will require extensive changing in Jetting. I would suggest you to use Joy/splendor/ passion steel silencer as they do not have cat con and are free flowing. Also the longer length ensure sounds remain smooth.

Change the air screw and the tuning will be easier. You air screw is at fault.
