Splendor's engine is harder on the oil than Extreme's , I know this from filling same oils in both at the same time . Splendor's engine just loves fresh oil all the time , it heats up in noisy protest and makes clanky gear-shifts with 2 months(1000kms) old Hero oil

Yep , at this point you should stop and use the idle adjust screw to turn down the rpms - to around 1200 , or what suits you as the normal idling on warm engine .
It's normal , similar to the throttle response - round slide carb responds fast , the cv carb on extreme is slower .

Yes, Pinaki Sir. I keep facing the same issue on my CD100 too, the fresh oil lasts good only for about 1000-1200kms after which the gearshift becomes hard and oil upon inspection(dipstick) shows it slightly black.

I find valvoline 20w40 for 260/- value for money as it last 2K kms and was smooth on engine. BTW winters are coming are you planning on stocking w30 oil for this season ? [emoji1]
I've also used hero oil once but i dont like it at all. Its a crap. I've did research on higher rated oil and i found veedol is the only oil with higher rating of API SM and JASO MA2 performance level. The hero oil doesnt stand at this rating at all despite its supplied by tide water. Its bottle states 'meets' JASO MA specs, which is the least lowest rating. Have also tried Shell Advance AX5 which is API SL but JASO MA only and this oil is also not good at all. For me Hero & AX5 oil both stand at the same level. However Gulf Pride 4T Plus & Shell Advance AX7 (both at API SL and JASO MA2) is much better. But veedol is veedol, its (API SM & JASO MA2) performance beats all the oils, i just love the oil, and my first choice will always be Veedol.

Hero always take right decisions and they dont disappoint their customers. I believe this decision would change the future of hero!

Yes you need to stop at higher level. Tuning needs experience and few minor things are also involved. One suggestion is while you tune, remove the inlet pipe that goes from air suction valve to intake manifold and block it, then tune it. The response will be much better and easier to tune. Make sure not to unblock while you tune otherwise your engine will suck air.

Why do you think this happens? Why is the 97gem harder on oil compared to other engines? Is it the tighter tolerances? A higher running temperature? Engine working harder? Or all of the above?

This engine makes power and torque at high rpms , so it's working at high revs most of the time . And it's quite low in torque too - so it's got to work hard and hot most of it's life moving the load . It's like this by design - and Honda knew this - so they added an ingenious device to their CT90 and CT110 Trail bikes with this same motor . They added a switch-able gear - i.e to climb slopes for example the CT rider has to dismount and move a lever under the engine , which switched the entire gearbox to a high-torque range . Equivalent to switching to a smaller front sprocket on the fly ...

It's not an problem - just keep the oil fresh , under 2000kms or 4 months old - max . I just drop the oil when it starts to feel like that . Not like I buy expensive oils , but I don't mind spending a bit on early oil changes for my baby , if she loves that

Haven't seen it, thanks for posting.

Not only wheelie but rolling wheelie which is more difficult, and it is no brainier as i have always found it easy to lift front wheel of my joy rather than extreme. Its because they have higher low end torque.

Truly revolutionary as the engine that they are showing is the new splendor pro engine which i felt is lot better as they make more torque, more power, smooth and also the lightening is excellent as they use 8 coils with higher watt magnet.

The original engine used on CD 100 used to make 7.0 ps power and 7.2 Nm of torque. The present engine used of splendor classic makes nearly 8.5 ps of power and 8.2 Nm of torque that too at lower rpm. So truly evolutionary as even Honda had not evolved the engine so much.

Lol, seriously ? Commuter segment bikes with an ad similar to the pulsars.. ? Hero seems to be spending more on advertisements than real product development.
ppl have been popping wheelies on splendors since ages, heck kids even pop up wheelies on activa's and dio's.

Which tyres senior members suggest for CD DAWN. I have replaced front tyre with Ceat Secura Zoom in urgency. Now need advice for rear tyre.

                            I am also planning to use 3 X 18 tyre than 2.75 X 18

                            Options

                            1. Ceat
                            2. MRF
                            3. Ralson
                            4. Birla
                            5. Motro continental

                            Please suggest.

So you mean to say that the current models are having these engines or will hero launch these new engine bikes near Deepawali.

the bore doesn't need replacing at 30k kms. usually the standard rings are loosing their sealing characteristics. what u do is that go for next oversize ring(0.25) and take the old bore and piston to lathe. then grind the ring gaps to required gap so that the ends do not touch each other and light slightly passes through the gaps. do not go for standard ring as it not be of any use.
a good mechanic can do it for you and maximum cost will be Rs. 500. now the the new cylinder kits coming have more than required gaps and consume oil. so my mechanic installs new 0.25 size rings by grinding even on new bore. it gives much better compression.
however run in has to b about 1500km s as it will be very tight clearance and will cause very high heating during run-in.
Will a 0.25 sise ring fit on a standard sized piston ?
                                Please clarify.
