    Why?
Its because your needle jet and main jet are fixed. So when we are tuning at slow speed the we are adjusting slow jet orifice. At wide open throttle the slow jet is still working. So in fact you are feeding more fuel and thus low mileage and low top speed.

So we tune at high rpm. By tuning at high rpm we are forcing the main jet to open. Usually we tune at 3k rpm or slightly more causing the main jet to power. When we set the slow jet by air screw in this way we provide an optimal mix as you bike almost always runs above 3k rpm. Below 3k rpm it will be slightly lean but it is not a cause of worry.
I always wanted to know this but i never asked. I run my bike mostly at around 70-80 kph. Around 63% of my monthly running runs around 70-80kph and 37% of it at 50-60kph range. So that does mean that i should tune my bike around 5k rpm to get most out of it??

I want to learn this in detail. I'd like to have this explained in detail.. i may call you if its too long to explain. Drop me a message.

Its been quite long i havent shared any updates about my bike.

Bike was running good until i reached Delhi from Mumbai. It has done 15000 kms after overhauling complete engine. No engine work was ever done after overhauling. Clutch housing already had a play on its gear and worn at clutch plate seating. I had new carb, new rear shocks of splendor pro and new silencer when i took my bike off from my town to Mumbai.

After i drove to Delhi it has Veedol Super Swift 10w40 running and i wanted to have that oil only. Tried to find a lot in delhi but every attempt was unsuccessful. I then located the depot at veedol website and finally found it. However due to desire of getting Veedol only, i stretched my bike upto 3600 kms. Maybe i shouldn't have done that because by that time the oil gone too bad to run. It became a lot thinner. Bike was struggling to go beyond 60kph and vibrations too. At that period of time some rattling sound started in head. That stays about for 15-20 secs on cold start and then go off. Also at the same time some ringing kinda sound started to appear in the new silencer. I changed the engine oil and rattling sound go off slowly after few days of running. However silencer ringing sound didnt go off and i thought that silencer gone bad. but later i found that a little bit rattling is still coming from the head, apparently the t-chain (Diamond Accuro) is bad and rockers have problem i suppose. And that little sound is causing ringing sound from silencer. I doesn't come much on cold start but gets louder when hot.

The clutch were getting bent due to bad clutch housing and was causing juddering. The replacement was already pending on my list. Due to job and no place for DIY in gurgaon i was unable to take care of my bike. I'm commuting daily on my bike from home~office. I'm living in a family house, they know i'm a DIY guy. I told my owner beforehand that i'm going to do perform some work on my bike. They allowed. Since its a marble floor. I'm not supposed to make it dirty. I used plastic in the bottom and did DIY as clean as possible early at 7am, completed before their maid arrives So today i changed it with new OE clutch housing, clutch plates, pressure plate, clutch inner/outer and GPT. Old clutch ran for 18k. Now engine sound is changed a lot. Ride is much better now and clutch operation is smooth. Was running veedol take off 10w30. Now changed back to Super Swift 10w40.

The block packing of my bike leaked after the Mumbai-Delhi trip. Bought DID T-chain and few other parts for replacing. Now have planned to change block packing, new standard piston rings for more compression, and fixing the cause of rattling sound. Bike was not delivering best performance as i want. After this work and re-tuning. Bike is expected to back to its real performance.

    Will post any further updates.

Mech says its the clutch slipping and need to replace the clutch disks. But I don't think so as my KB-100 also had clutch slippage (which has been now dealt with). So I would know a slipping clutch when I see it. Also the mechanic tried tuning it but with no success.

But the main problem is that I am getting horribly jerky throttle response. From say 20% to 80% throttle the bike just stops revving and then dangerously jerks but smoothens out at the top edge of the rev band.

My sister's 10th exams are near and I would have to take her to the center that would be around 20ks from my house through the highway.

Mechanics near my house have no idea.

Every possible suggestion is much appreciated.
I had same / exact same problem in my splendor.

There can be 2 issues .

      1. Carb
      2. Ignition

Remove plug cap , and touch wire to spark plug and start. NOTE : DO THIS SAFELY WHILE WEARING GLOVES OR YOU WILL GET CURRENT SHOCK.
Now slowly move wire little away from plug tip and give revs ( 20%-80%) if you see arc getting thin or weak. It means ignition system is at fault.

But if arc is good and bluish , then you need to swap carb with another splendor and check.

These are two diagnostic tests i performed and came to ignition system as well as carb was going bad.

PS: My mileage was 35-40 Max in highways and 25kmpl in city.

Set aside a budget of 1k and get the plastics / broken parts looked at

As far as i can see,
            LH FR indicator is broken
Center stand is rusted+ spring is missing.
            Handle bolts are rusted
Kicker is of new model, older ones had straight design
            Front forks are leaking
            LH mirror is missing.
Leg guard is deeply scratched , i guess multiple high speed falls.
Inlet of head is leaking, change the O ring.
Change the exhaust flange, its rusted badly.
Clean thoroughly the deep , inaccessible parts . See sibun's bike in his signature , it has done 4L kms and looks like it was bought yesterday. Point is if you are willing to do , then its not impossible.

These items barely take 30 mins to be fixed. Also wash the bike, Dirt elevates the corrosion in old bikes.

I did check the ignition by removing wire and kicking. Need to do it as you mentioned. Also please give me an idea as to how much it will take to repair the ignition system and the parts needed. Its a super splendor bdw. Is there any difference in parts and such with a splendor(100 cc)?

                Thankyou.

What are the tools needed to open the engine? Is it possible to repair the rear and front shocks, I just need the springs only for both! Is it necessary to replace the carb fully or should I just clean it? How can i remove the small dent on my fuel tank? How can I remove the rust from the chassis? Can anyone send me the parts catalogue!!!

My 2000 Splendor was also almost like yours.

3 years back once I haven't used it for 1 month because I was out of station for office work.

I have no idea if someone in our apartment have grudge on me. They made my bike fall down & Handlebar was bent and also headlight glass was broken. They have removed the spark plug & pored sand in the cylinder.... there is a lot of list.... It was run 70,000 KM's by that time.

I have changed the below items along with Reboring:
                      1. Front Visor
                      2. New Splendor's Multi Reflector Headlight set & Tail Light
                      3. Wire Harness
                      4. My handle was bent, so replaced a new small black handle
                      5. Utility Box

It all costed close to 8K.

Later on I always make sure I ride & check the bike at least once in a week. But now I am using the bike daily.

Every day I clean the bike with Rag. It hardly takes 2 mins.

Now I have clocked 1 lack KM's Still the bike is looking good (Recently it is giving some gear problems though - I need to fix it). Still it gives a decent mileage of 75+KMPL (Usually I don't ride fast, I will ride in 40-50KMPH).

                      Below are few pics

Go ahead and change the items what 'RohIIT' and 'Brezon95' mentioned. Initially it may cost you a little bit more. But later you always feel proud whenever you ride your splendor.

Security Guard is there - When I enquired about that they said, they have no idea.

I suspect they only have done that. Because on those days I use to come home late by 11PM. Each day I use to wake them to unlock the main gate on top of that they are not ready to give any duplicate keys also.

One day they refused to open the gate and arguing if you want to go home either come early or jump the compound and go....

We had a hard/bad discussion on that night... and I told them 'your job is to look after the building not to tell my timings'... May be that fellow wanted to take revenge... and when he got the nice time he did it...

Later I just asked the security only one time and never discussed & forgot about that...

We don't get Splendor's Catalog. I also searched a lot.

                              7. T Spanner (usually 8MM & 10MM is most commonly used)

So I want to know that is it normal or something is wrong?
