This brother you have to try out and tell us because I've actually never used the black one , as far as I can tell it's wax based , white one is silicone oil .

Your kind permission brothers to rant about screwdrivers a bit ?

This is what came in my Splendor+ 2010 OE tool-bag with the bike . It's a poor excuse for a screwdriver , the handle doubles as a spark-plug socket , rod is good . But how to grasp this tiny awkward handle ??!! Am very unhappy with Hero for this .

Compare this to the one that came with my RX100 , still a sturdy comfortable tool - used often yet in bike work . Thanks Yamaha .

The shaft is straight & tips are still excellent after nearly 20 years of heavy use including hitting and prying things .

Now for a after-market replacement lets consider the leading Indian brand Taparia with a lesser known Multitec one which I came across by chance and am using extensively now . Comparable to the OE toolbox driver are the two-end ones consisting of 6mm flat (-) on one end and a #2 Phillips (+) on the other . i.e the Taparia 905 and Multitec's R6150 . This size is very appropriate for a general purpose all-around use screwdriver even around the house .

Both have acetate handle . Steel is high grade tool steel with tips hardened and tempered . Taparia mentions tip hardness of 55-58 HRC . No data about the Multitec , but my observation after use is it's tips are considerably more hard , stronger and wear resistant .

Multitec has a hexagonal shaft compared to the Taparia's round one , and it's thicker . You can't use the Multitec on screws recessed inside narrow deep holes that comes on some electronics devices , but thats not a consideration on the bike where all screws are more-or-less exposed .

Hexagonal shaft allows application of a spanner etc for extra torque - should you need it .

Multitec's handle is considerably larger , thicker and better shaped ( square cross section ) providing more comfortable grip and more torque than Taparia's . Both is cellulose-acetate , a material impervious to oils , grease , petrol etc common solvents and very resistant to heat and shock , easier to clean compared to rubberised handle .

A tight locking metal hexagonal collet for holding the shaft compared to Taparia's steel insert which gets loose over time . A 2-end driver whose shaft comes out easily from handle is impossibly frustrating in use .

Multitec's tips are better machined , harder wearing , with coating . Mildly chamfered edges , no burrs - so doesn't gouge screws .

What I don't like about them is for some unknown reason they machine a depressed collar near each tip (red arrow). I feel this narrowing may weaken the shaft which is otherwise quite thick along it's entire length .

Multitec's tips are heavily magnetised . Taparia's 905 is not magnetised at all . Magnet tips are good for picking dropped screws , non-magnet better for electronics devices that may be harmed by magnet .

Taparia's tips can be very good too if you take time to carefully select one because I found much variation between samples and coarse finishing . Longer taper is good for prying paint-can lids , oil-seals etc. Remember that they are in technical collaboration with Bahco of sweden , one of the worlds top tool brands .

Also I found that their Phillips tip wears and deforms easily if Cam-Out occurs from screw head . But for the low price the 905 is nonetheless an able driver .

I like these so much now that I got 2 of each , Multitec 6150 and 6100 of 150mm and 100mm shaft length . 100mm is nearer to the OE toolbox driver .

And before anyone would accuse me being anti-Taparia lobby - these are not all my Taparia drivers

        Lastly , Taparia 905 is costing Rs 50 and Multitec's 6150 is Rs 70 and 6100 is Rs 60 @ chandni-market kolkata now . Take your pick

The red one looks cool, will hunt for it, magnetic is really 1 advantage

I think hard gear shifts are normal. Even my bike makes a bit of noise when shifting to 1st from neutral and vice versa. Other than that the gear shifts are butter smooth on the roads.

vEry good initiative. I shall start same soon.

One day there was some sort of rubbing noise coming from clutch side. I have checked it and changed clutch assembly in a service station.
clutch Free play must have been 0 , hence clutch was constantly slipping.

                  3 times ?
Plate cost is 335/- and labour is 150Rs . Total 500Rs at max. How does it cost you 2k ? There is a bearing in clutch shaft or Bell . But its unlikely it wears out.

Below are the problems in the motorcycle:

Slipping Kick: It happens especially when the engine is cold. When I start in the morning and when I come back to home from office. If I switch off in the traffic signal and start it is working fine.
Looks like the clutch rod is causing the problems or the cable is wrongly adjusted.

Hard Gear Shift: It is very hard to shift gears. From 1st gear to neutral is even harder. Every time I shift the gear it gives a loud noise.
Again Clutch issue , It is not disengaging from gear and you are forcing it. Hence it is making thud noise , this will damage shifter fork and drum , then you will need to tear whole engine and gearbox apart for this.

Ride is very hard: The vehicle is not smoothly running. It always feels like there is a friction in clutch side.
                  Covered above.

Sprocket Play: Every time I press or release clutch to change the gear or in slow moving traffic there is a play in front sprocket & noise in chain. It happens more in 2nd gear, because that is the gear I use in very slow moving traffic.
Check rear drum cushings . Chances are they are worn causing play in movement of the vehicle from stationary condition.

Varying Initial Pickup: When I move the vehicle from 1st gear it will not go smoothly after moving for few feets, all of a sudden it jumps & sudden pick up. I feel like wheeling. It happens in all the gears. It is very annoying & difficult to ride in slow moving traffic.
I know as a beginner I cannot be able to identify & fix the problems. But slowly I have to learn.
Can be due to multiple issues.
                  Carb issue.
                  Clutch Grabbing
                  Spark issue.

Now I am scared of giving my vehicle to service. Because simply I have to spend 2000 rs just for washing the vehicle. Now I am thinking like let the vehicle run till its last breath. I am also very confused & bit depressed on what to be done (no money).
Wait for a proper reply for now. dont keep changing parts unless you are sure they are damaged. Your plates are getting damaged due to something else , most probably clutch rod.

I checked your excel sheet. Its nice and what i saw they only changed clutch plates and clutch bell, and they didnt did genuine work. They should have changed the clutch bell as whole original unit which cost nearly around Rs.1100-1200 or more. But they charged only 420 for it and what they have done is they got bell overhauled at lathe. They used aftermarket bell and used the same clutch bell gear joined with the lathe which should not have been done. Original bell with GPT should have been replaced.

what i can guess is there is something wrong inside the chamber. Problem can only be found after splitting crank. And inspection of the bearings, shift drum and shift fork if they are not worn.

Your clutch is slipping thats why you are experiencing kick slippage and sudden rpm rise in low speed. As rohit suggested check for clutch free play. There should not have been a clutch slippage. There could also be problem with incorrect fitting, worn pressure plate, lack in the quality of work they have done or they simply didnt put new clutch plates and charged for it.

Check if your sprocket set is worn. Your front sprocket is worn for sure. Open and reverse it. If you change the set, replace with Diamond.

You can identify, the more you get involve in this the faster you will learn. When i joined this i was just like you. I didnt knew anything. Within one year i opened the head of my bike and after a year whole engine is overhauled by me. My bike was in very bad state, i suffered a lot, when i decided to do everything by myself, i did it. I did postmortem of my bike, i overhauled everything and now i just love driving it because its run like out from showroom.

No need to be confuse, dont take stress. Stress is not good for health. You can do everything of your own with your satisfaction. Since you are willing to do it yourself, makeup your mind that you are not going back to those mechanics. In this tread you will find everything you need to know.

Dont think about splitting the engine yet. Check for the clutch free play if that resolve your problem otherwise get yourself a clutch holder and special nut opener to open the clutch assembly.

Do ask anything you want. Ask as much as you want and clear all questions you may have in your mind.

I am also getting clank sound particularly when down-shifting gear from 2nd to 1st or 1st to neutral at low speeds . When I fitted this new clutch-cable few months back I left a big free play , was fine untill now . Should I adjust to cut down the free-play a bit now ?

The spark plug was again coated with petrol and I could also smell petrol from it. But the colour of the plug tells that it is running lean. Then why its getting fouled with petrol again and again?I also tuned the carb to just 1.2 turns out.
I am very confused. Experts please help me.
PS: Pictures were taken in the morning after 12 hours of bike standing idle.

Here they are saying clutch plates are about 380/-. Every time they want to check, they will replace with a new engine oil 300+/-. Labor they are charging 250/-. Sometimes they are saying they have replaced entire clutch assembly. All those charges is not exactly 2k but close to 2k. Sometimes it is 1.5k also. I just took the max amount & said more or less 2k. I have include those cost in the excel I attached in a zip file.

                              - Sprocket play really reduced a bit but not completely. Before the installation of the new chain, I have put the vehicle in 1st gear and turned the front sprocket by hand. I could able to turn it little bit. I did the same thing using 2nd gear, I could able to turn the sprocket little bit more than 1st

You are right. They have not done the genuine work. I doubt if they have done lathe work also.

                              My bad:

Guide for Sprocket Wear Identification: If any guide is already present in this thread, please provide me the link or Please post a New Guide (Pictorial will be more understandable) about how to identify a worn out sprockets would be a good informative subject and also a good learning.

Pinaki ji , i would like to share one incident that happened recently. My unicorn's gear lever return spring broke without any apparent reason. Due to which i could either use first or second gear , i had to slightly tap lever to engage other gears , in other words complete nightmare in mid traffic.

I was curious as why this can happen all of a sudden , and i came up with some reasons \

                                1. Natural wear / fatigue failure ( Bike is 25k run but 7 yr old )
                                2. Gear Slotting ( this was due to too much freeplay in lever 2-3")

Now gear slotting effect was causing undue shock in spring , and compared to other parts this would give up first , then drum or fork would break.

This leads to think how important its to keep proper freeplay in lever . I might be wrong but somehow i feel improper play eventually led to this.
