What happened was that my dad's SS 125 has been giving very poor mileage for a few months now(10 - 15 kmpl). I reckoned it as some AFR issue but could not tune it to give proper mileage. Mech says its the clutch slipping and need to replace the clutch disks. But I don't think so as my KB-100 also had clutch slippage (which has been now dealt with). So I would know a slipping clutch when I see it. Also the mechanic tried tuning it but with no success.
But the main problem is that I am getting horribly jerky throttle response. From say 20% to 80% throttle the bike just stops revving and then dangerously jerks but smoothens out at the top edge of the rev band.
My sister's 10th exams are near and I would have to take her to the center that would be around 20ks from my house through the highway.
Mechanics near my house have no idea.
Every possible suggestion is much appreciated.
The key to happiness is a "key"!!!
Like the key in my DP.
That's why it's called the "key to happiness".

Inspect blockage of the fuel line connected to Carburetor.
Check for your throttle cable: if it very hard then change to new one.
Throttle spring might be not working (either broke/lost its tension).
Some of the jets might be blocked.
In local garages – they normally clean the carburetor by just removing the bottom chamber.
Completely removing the carburetor from the bike and properly cleaning each component and jets by compressed air/Carb cleaner might solve the problem.

change /clean Air filter, carb and oil filter . These are the most likely culprits. If air filter is blocked engine will drink petrol and acts like choke is turned on. What about spark plug? replace that too every 12k kms.

Changed spark plug and throttle cable also. Checked air filter, and found to be clean. But the problem persists only on specific range throughout the throttle( 20 - 70 %). NOT REVS. The bike revs smoothly below or above the irregular throttle range!
Please help!

Also I tuned the bike many times. But have kept it a bit on the leaner side for now.

You are probably tuning it wrong. Also I suspect blockage in carburetor because of adulterated fuel. Get the carb cleaned or clean it yourself if you know how to do it. And then tune it/get it tuned. Dont keep on the leaner side because that is the main reason why jerking occurs on low rpms. I think you are keeping the tuning on highly lean side. Also post a pic of spark plug here. Also how many kms have you clocked?
Hi I am new in this thread!! I own a HH Splendor (2001).... I am planning to repair the bike as it is very badly used... Interestingly it has covered 4.3+ lack KMS... The bike is running smoothly but the parts are damaged due to rust like the gear lever, brake lever, silencer etc... Now I would like to know how much does it costs to replace the following parts:-
01.Silencer
02.Rear & Front Springs
03.Gear, Brake Lever & Rear Brake Pedal
04.Head & Tail Lights
05.F&R Mudguards, Side & Tail Panels & Visor
06.F&R Footrests, Seat & Brake Shoes
07.Clutch, Brake & Speedometer Cables
08.Full Nut Bolt Kit
09.Centre & Side Stand
10.Full Bearings Kit
Please send me the price list for all the above items!!!!!
I would also like to know what all are the engine parts that must be replaced for optimum performance and mileage!!!!

I also suspect a blockage in carb but haven't checked it yet. The spark plug head was black. It was also old so changed it and found to be brownish with the new one alas lean AFR. But if the tune is on the leaner side, how am i getting such low mileage.
Stupid mechanic is reluctant to clean the carb or do anything else. Says the clutch is slipping, but if the clutch slips, the engine should rev without any output to the rear wheel right? But in my case the revs go missing and jerky during the problematic throttle range. I also changed the throttle cable which was quite tight and rough.

If the mechanic is reluctant to clean the carb then dump him. Clean the carb yourself or by some other mechanic. Instructions to clean the carb are on page 11 of this thread.
I would say take a second opinion from other mechanic. I think the current mechanic just wants to make money from you. Also wait for experts reply as what they have to say about this.
Before changing the throttle cable was this issue there? Have you observed any change/s after changing throttle cable? How many kms have you clocked?
Maintain 25 psi and 35 psi tire pressure in front and back wheels. This could also cause low mileage. What engine oil are you using and how many kms have you clocked on the engine oil?

I changed the throttle cable yesterday all by myself thinking it would solve the problem.
It did'nt! even after tuning it a few times!
Engine oil used is hero 4T or something like that. kms clocked is over a lac I suppose as the speedometer cable is not functioning for the last 3,4 years.
All I need to know now is that if my AFR is lean, will my mileage go down?? can the throttle problem also be related to jet blockage??? or pin defect??
Also note that i have intentionally kept the bike now a bit on the leaner side.
