incidentally the part-numbers you mentioned are 2 different parts of the same air-filter assembly . 17212KTC900 is the holder and 17213KWA940 is filter element and 17212KTC900S is most probably the whole filter assembly ( i.e both parts together
Yes bro it is paper filter..but there was only filter element in cover..no holder..and the cover was sealed and with hologram and part number...

      Dear pinaki
Clutch lever pull has no effect on that sound. It was same.
What I did yesterday that I changed engine oil after 200 km run-in. Drained completely while engine was hot and poured around 900ml castrol 20w40 mineral oil.
After running on new engine oil, after 40 km, I feel that the sound has gone.
The big problem since overhauling -
The bike doesn't start easily, takes 8-12 Kicks irrespective of whether choke is off or on specially during morning or after 8 hours from the last start time.(I don't use throttle while kicking the kick lever)
To resolve this today I inspected the spark plug
It was brown in colour around the thread indicating good mileage which is around 58 kmpl, but the topmost part of the spark plug has dry black soot deposited which I got it cleaned.
Then inspected the smoke of the exhaust which is colourless and no soot is coming out of it. So I don't think that the AFR mixture is rich. It is balanced.

So what could be the reason behind that sooty spark plug and starting problem?

Thanks to you for the replies I am getting.

You have starting problem because of thicker oil. After overhaul you should have used 10w30 mineral oil as it is thinner and gets circulated in the engine faster then 20w40.

In next oil change use 10w30 mineral oil and problem should solve. If not then you can try cleaning the carb. Those are the only 2 things I suspect.

I am also inclined towards cheap 10w30 oil during run in but since you've already filled let it run until 1k kms now . Don't fill oil by volume , fill to correct level by dipstick method . Keep weekly check on oil levels in same way .
No problem in using a bit of throttle during kick-start , I always did that . Never mind the plug now unless you get oily plug - let it run more and more . It shall settle .

Hi guys I have a doubt..
My chain is perfectly clean and free of alternate tight and loose zones..now it run about 23000 km...when it reaches limit of adjusting can I use large size sprocket..??will it fit..? The sprockets are good both front and rear..can I replace the chain alone...?will it work..?

Sorry for 3 posts..I tried to quote #satson #pinaki...I don't know how to delete it...
After reguler use milage is raising..now runs 95 km for 100 rs petrol..

Why do you want to use larger sprocket?
For change in performance or just that you can use the chain a bit longer with larger sprocket?
If latter is the intention, you can always remove a link and use with same sprockets.
But it is always good to change chain/sprockets as a set.
Splendor's chain/sprocket will last atleast 50-60k kms (from my experience) and Splendor's OE parts are always cheaper.

#satson bro my bike is running about 120 km a day in highways.when on highways,I always felt that there is not enough ride smoothness. after 60 kmph, a vibration will come to handle bar..so,I ride in a speed below 60 kmph and above 50 kmph...

Am not trying to increase speed above 60 due to control issue but is it possible to increase ride smoothness by changing front sprocket...?

Chains won't last long in Kerala conditions.. We have to face alternate hills and valleys while driving...forces to down gears..a lot of curves wil also there..even to first gear with pillion in countryside roads..

usually, chains will out in 30-35k km..

.as per your advice I will only change chain and sprocket as a set..

for cutting the chain.. will it create a noisy drive...??

                  • Battery Low Bike Left idle for 7 days

                    Hello Friends,

I have a HH Sup Splendor self start 2006 model and recently purchased a TVS Jupiter (one week ago) also. Since I purchased TVS Jupiter i didnt use the HH SS for one week. Today being sunday i cleaned the bike and switched on ignition and tired to use the starter but it didnt go at all. Even horn didnt work but neutral light and indicators were slightly working.

Coming to the present battery in HH Sup Splendor it was working perfectly and i replaced it some 2 years ago and the current battery is a sealed MF battery. Also during last month when i went on tour bike was idle for 6 days but i really dont remember starting it with self or kick when i returned back. I am a moody person and sometimes in mornings use kick or sometimes use self , mostly i use kick start ( it starts with half kick) and then whenever i need to stop / at signals use self to restart the bike. Also while starting from Office i use self only and it starts very easily. Took the voltmeter and battery reads 13Volts. Also i had washed the bike so might be has the water got something to do with it? But still the self should pickup, because what if the same setup was in a car and the self didnt pickup after 1 week of being idle?

What could be the probable cause of this? The shopkeeper while buying mentioned that sealed MF batteries can also be charged but my worry is howcome in one week it got drained. Could there be any leak from wires? How to find out the root cause of this?

I feel that there is some jinx with me, i was thinking to buy the MOCC dual tone horn and put one horn for bike and one horn for jupiter since both bikes have good healthy batteries and this happens

                      Mileage test finished.

                      Method used: Reserve to Reserve
                      Tripmeter Reading: 115.7 kms
                      Fuel Consumed: 2.0 lts
                      Fuel Economy: 57.85 kmpl

Bike was driven 100% in city traffic. For the first time I have got mileage above 50-52 kmpl. I am very satisfied with the mileage. Thanks to all the members here. With their guidance and help, now I have been able to run my bike in top notch condition.

incidentally the part-numbers you mentioned are 2 different parts of the same air-filter assembly . 17212KTC900 is the holder and 17213KWA940 is filter element and 17212KTC900S is most probably the whole filter assembly ( i.e both parts together ) . It's a paper element filter , No ? I'm not very familiar with the paper filters on the later models . My Splendor+ has oiled foam element , it's reusable .
I send a message to hero motocorp to conform the genuinity of spare part the replay is:

Did you message the part number or Unique Part Identity (UPI) number? In order to check genuineness you need to message the UPI number. UPI number is on the right side of the sticker, written verically with black.

Sticker is not looking authentic - but you did not post pic of whole of it - does it have hologram strip on right side ? . I also did not find this part number in any of my catalog . I thought you've made a typo . I found no part numbered 17213KTC900 , only found part number 17212KTC900 .

                                Update :
                                Older type green sticker -

Note hologram strip on right ( and UPI number ) -

                                Current white sticker :

also has same hologram strip on right , with Hero on it . Also having same type UPI number next to it .

Sorry for delay , took a nap .

Note in your sticker Hindi Ru , symbol for Rupee , is absent after the cost ammount . Instead in another area it's written (IN Rs) . Ru symbol was adopted in 2010 .

What is your place of purchase ?
