AFAIK Hero / HeroHonda Splendor / Passion correct plug is ngk CR7HSA ( equivalent champion would be PRZ7HC ) . But Hero service center and parts dealers shall also have the hotter ngk CR6HSA or champion PRZ9HC which is for Hero scooters and they'll happily sell you either . Use the one mentioned in your owner's manual - not wise to play with plug heat ranges .

Guys does the engine plate(that is used to protect the engine from mud or soil effect cooling of the engine). Is it good to continue with the engine plate or i can remove it.

The engine guard in my bike was more of a trouble than help. It used to hit the speed breakers, so I removed that.

Does it block the wind flow to cool down the engine.

No, it does not block wind flow.

            • Air Screw

              Dear Experts,

Yesterday i planned to clean my carburettor, Before I bought O ring for air screw & washer, which i have not found during earlier cleaning.

While cleaning i found already existing washer & O ring carburettor. Both have different design. Which one to be used.Click image for larger version

Left one - which was in carburettor
Right one - i bought from spare parts shop.

Also please can post picture of an air screw assembled ? (i feel, sequence is spring , washer & O ring at the end.)

                  NAMASKAR to all Xbhpians

finally I have got my bike's engine overhauled (super splendor 2005 model)

The facilities at the local mechanic are good. They use machines to tighten or loosen nuts & bolts and also have an hi speed air blower which is helpful in taking dirt out or to dry machine parts.
The crank is repaired at some other place and new con-rod is inserted.

new bore+piston assembly, timing chain only, valves+oil seals, clutch plates, clutch center (All OE) [I hope that the parts are really genuine as because a large amount fake hero parts has been raided a few days ago in Delhi]

Engine disassembled and then every part is cleaned with petrol and then cleaned with flowing water. Thereafter they used hi speed air blower to dry the engine parts.
Well all parts are assembled again.
Oil used – castrol 20w40, mineral oil.
Rest all is obvious in the images itself.

                  will update later on.

                  some queries
                  1. sound of the engine after starting is not so smooth, still I can hear some weird sound.
                  2. After overhauling , I rode for around 12 kms. Then I remembered that after overhauling engine has to be left on idle for about two hours which I eventually did. Any Problem with that doing after 12 kms running?
                  3. On the top of piston it is mentioned KTCA (not USHA).

Yes , it's almost usual that the air-screw comes out leaving the washer and o-ring stuck inside that tiny hole . I had to bend a hook at the end of a stiff wire to get mine out .
Both your o-rings are same , only the old one has been compressed into that mis-shape by someone tightening the air-screw fully and then some

This is a bit fuzzy pic of my carburetor air-screw to show you the order of things .

Note that my old o-ring has also got compressed into mis-shape like yours . But it wasn't too bad and the ring was intact and pliable . so I left it in and it's working fine yet . Later I got a new ring for Rs 35 which I think is too much since the whole air-screw assembly with brass-air-screw , o-ring , spring & washer is just Rs 65 . I'll change it on next cleaning .

How much did you get it for ?

O ring for Rs. 7 & washer for 5. O ring pack was a bulk pack approx 500 o rings in it.

Can I switch to semi-synthetic oil (shell AX7 10w40)? If yes, then when to switch?

Cost was a bit high I feel , but still if the job is well done , well it's done now . Please do not fill any synthetic oil now , just ordinary cheap mineral oil . After engine job Hero 10w30 would be good , but 20w40 is okay . Rather do couple of quick oil changes during running-in the new bore , say first after 200-300 kms and second by 1000 kms . Thereafter normal 2000 km changes . Keep weekly check on engine oil level & top-up if required .

Before changing my speedometer machine i changed cable, drive set with original spares.
Now today i found speedometer stopped working. Just as quick check i found cable is not rotating. i.e. drive set / one of gear went wrong. This happen in 600km only. original last for 48000km. Where i went wrong. Which care i should take to fit.
Last time i have done this myself only. Now wish to open front wheel on Saturday/Sunday.
