I believe a bike sitting idle for 2 years would be having a clogged air filter.
You may try cleaning it or replace with a new one.

Before changing my speedometer machine i changed cable, drive set with original spares.
Now today i found speedometer stopped working. Just as quick check i found cable is not rotating. i.e. drive set / one of gear went wrong. This happen in 600km only. original last for 48000km. Where i went wrong. Which care i should take to fit.
Last time i have done this myself only. Now wish to open front wheel on Saturday/Sunday.

Experts Can you guide me on above

Hey guys this my first thread on this forum and I own honda cd 100 the bike is pretty much same as you guys get in India hero splender now bike is 8 years old and the breather pipe of engine have gone bad (its rock hard) the problem is that the engine being horizontal the breather is under frame of bike can any one guide me how to reach it?

It's been a week after engine overhaul and I have ridden around 160 km till now. Mileage is around 58 kmpl.
But the problem is some sort of low rattling sound that is coming from the engine side when engine is on idle and the sound nearly vanishes as the bike accelerates.
The problem of engine oil consumption has gone.
What could be the reason behind that sound?

When you replaced the speedo cable did you use the exact same part-number cable as that came with the bike ?
I am wondering because from my own experience , there are several very similar speedometer cables in Hero parts shops and many of them actually fit and work just fine on my 2010 Splendor+ . When my very first cable broke I went to Hero Service center for replacement . The young man who took my bike brought a cable in sealed pack from parts shop , but it would not fit . So he went back and got one and this one did . It was physically different than my original and also different part No . Length etc was same but missing the bend metal tube on Meter-end , unlike Splendor cables . I think it was for CD100 . Anyway it fitted & worked fine and I did not bother - but I preserved my broken original cable . What happened is this new cable broke in 4k kms ( original lasted about 15k ). I always keep my speedo cable clean and greased . Next I went to Hero parts distributor and asked for cable mentioning my bike model and year . They gave me one and I fitted it myself and it went on just fine . But but when I tried to ride it started to make a Krrrr Krrrrrr noise in the speedo . Alarmed , I removed the cable at once , just there on the road with bike's toolbox tools . Later I investigated to find that it was most probably Glamour's cable . Quite perplexed , I had only one rescue - the old broken original cable I had thrown in one one corner of the bike-shed . Took it out and read it's part number , went to same hero distributor and asked them the cable by part No . Sure they had it , and it cost a bit less too ! It's now running fine on my Bike - and I am going to buy a spare one soon . Even Splendors have 2 types of cables , one that has a screw-on end and another that just click-on on the wheel-pinion end . So beware - ensure that you use the exact same cable that came with your bike .

Any work done on the clutch / clutch-basket ?

During overhaul, clutch plates and clutch center were replaced while pressure plates was not changed.No other change on the clutch basket.

On the timing chain section, only timing belt was changed.

Dear Pinaki

My Bike is CD Dawn. it has click type cable. I used the same.
Currently problem is not with cable.
1. removed cable from speedometer side. driven bike. It is not rotating.
2. Removed cable from wheel side. Inner cable is good. It just ran of 600kms.
3. Last time i changed speedometer drive gear (3) & worm gear (2) set, cable & speedometer in 1 weeks time. Hence all are almost replaced recently.
4. Just opened wheel on Saturday. seems gear is not driving pinion. below gear there are 2 washers(4). tried by removing 1 washer but not working.
5. If increased washers, gear & pinion will loose contact. if removed washers gear flat potion for driving from wheel is touching pinion.

Hence want to replace worm gear (2).
Want to know what care is needed in this.

Mine too has click type , but only specific part number works properly . I am just back from shop just now , sure enough the 44830-KWA-910S speedo cable I wanted to keep for spare is out of stock again and they again tried to sell me a different cable saying , yeh bhi chalega
Those 2 steel washers under the worm-gear are same as mine . Grease both pinion and worm-gear generously while fitting . Can't think of anything else

does the sound vary when you pull in clutch lever at idle ?

I changed air filter every 10000 km..and I have recently changed...now the km reading 22230 and I changed it at 20000..but when runs long,it has milage around 60 But drops in short runs..

Even if you had changed the filter at 20k kms, since the bike was sitting idle for long time, suggest you to clean the filter.

After changing at 20 k the bike is in running daily and covers 50-120 km a day..
