Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Soldering is THE solution for this type of wire-terminals , since original fitment is soldered only .Originally posted by ybedekar View PostYesterday my battery went wrong. Unfortunately its positive terminal wire came out. Same happened with my old battery 2 years back.
My mechanic earlier soldered it and run for 2 months. now is there any option to repair it permanently ? ..
What I found happens is battery acid creeps up the terminal joint after long use and eats the copper in the wire just after the soldered joint , corroding and eventually breaking the wire off . The repair is a new piece of wire of same gauge re-soldered on the old joint . I could not do it with 25watt soldron but my 50watt soldron worked , but it's a crude job . I was able to remove the remnants of the old wire in this way too . Of course you have to crimp a new bullet-connector on the new wire now . I clean my second battery externally with soap and water from time to time - this may delay the corrosion .
Another idea is to use a battery which has a post type terminal , onto which the bike's connection is fixed with bolts - those can be protected with grease or vaseline .
i.e Buy this type

instead of this

This shall require some modding to replace the bullet-type connector on the bike , with suitable blade-connectors . I have also seen adapters between the two types in the market here .
Why 3 caps instead of single larger value one ? other than having boringly long life only problem I can think of capacitors is currently none have the storage capacity to match a battery in the compact size required for bikes .Originally posted by ybedekar View Post.. I just bought 3 capacitors of 250 microF 16V and soldered + terminals together & -ve terminals together,
I connected 2 wires for easy fitments. fixed it in a plastic box (visiting card box). remove old battery/ disconnect it. Connect +ve of capacitor with +ve terminal to +ve wire where we connect battery and -ve to -ve.
Just if anyone want to try bring 2-3 capacitor, Just twist its terminals and connect as battery. .. any draw back of using this ? any one tried this ?
Just addition - Now a days for solar systems peoples are not using batteries which needs replacement. They use capacitor banks.Last edited by Pinaki; 04-14-2016, 01:50 AM.

Dear Pinaki,
Just i am have done this 2 years back when my first battery went wrong. By reading some post on internet.
Procedure is shown in Pics i used 4700mF X3 capacitors. Its works very good. Horn Indicator everything works when bike's engine is ON. We need the horn & indicator just when bike is running.
No need for new battery / soldering / filling distilled water / recharging.

Indeed sir you are right.Originally posted by Pinaki View PostWhy 3 caps instead of single larger value one ? other than having boringly long life only problem I can think of capacitors is currently none have the storage capacity to match a battery in the compact size required for bikes .
Also a little information on usage of capacitors..
Capacitors in series are like resistors in parallel, their value is reduced by the number(3 capacitors of 300microfarad each will be 100microfarad in series)
So getting higher voltage capacitors in parallel is better than higher farad capacitors in series
If anyone needs a high value 12-16 Volt capacitor then visit the smps repair shops in computer market
A few years ago I stumbled across this video of ultracapacitors as a battery replacement
Where in they were used for not only cranking the car but used successfully as a standalone battery bank.
I couldn't find them locally otherwise I would have made one myself.
If anyone has any info how to source ultracapacitors/supercapacitors then please share some info.....

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
The local mechanic says that the Hero company provides complete kit for complete engine overhaul? Is that true?
Under what circumstances crankshaft need to be changed of super splendor 2005 model?
Two days ago I got the front shockers retuned by changing fork oil, oil seals, bush (Rs280) and changed the cone set OE (Rs235). AND THE RESULT - the front suspension became more stiff !!!!!!
One of the shockers is slightly bent, a very very small bend. Is that the culprit? Or the fork oil that is used. I will post the pictures sometime later as I can't find the option while using mobile browser.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Bore+piston kit is available . It contains the cylinder , piston , rings and gudgeon-pin and circlip AFAIK . But complete engine overhaul may not be limited to this kit parts only . Better do this kind of complicated job from Hero service center , since they provide assurance for the work and shall do all necessary corrections if anything goes wrong in few months . This kind of assurance is not possible for the local mechanic to give .Originally posted by dppatel1226 View PostThe local mechanic says that the Hero company provides complete kit for complete engine overhaul? This I can't say for sure ... others please help .Originally posted by dppatel1226 View PostUnder what circumstances crankshaft need to be changed of super splendor 2005 model? ..
Small bend is big problem if it is causing the oil seal to leak . Otherwise ok .Originally posted by dppatel1226 View Post.. Fork is stiff now because any one or all -
i) too much oil from mechanic emptying fork-oil bottle into the legs without measuring , very common . Just get him to reduce the oil in each leg by equal amount , say 50cc from each .
ii) used too heavy grade (thicker) oil than necessary . use a known grade fork oil like endurance (bajaj) oil for CT100 , veedol etc . What did you get ?
iii) the fork internal parts should be cleaned throughly before assembly , if dirt is remaining it can block tiny holes between internal oil chambers and cause stiffness .
a bit stiffness just after a new service is okay - it shall relax a bit with use . Front wheel is bouncing ?Last edited by Pinaki; 04-21-2016, 03:34 AM.

I can say how much I keep and that is almost half way of full lever travel . I know it's a bit more but that is how I like it and bike shifts nicely too .Originally posted by Brezon95 View Post.. how much freeplay should be there in the clutch lever? With that kind of tight you are going to wear the clutch plates , slip it & heat up things etc etc . Correct it .

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
I thank you for your replies.
Posting the image of fork oil that has been used in super splendor in front fork. And yes no cleaning was done. Just oil draining and refilling in the front fork.
As far as that bend fork is concerned, there's no oil leak
And no scratch mark.
installed xbhp app, it's nice.Last edited by dppatel1226; 04-21-2016, 06:26 PM.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
1-2 cm at lever. Additionally you can keep any free play (1-5cm) and see it in clutch side, the lever should move 1cm only, any less and it will slip, any more it will grab.Originally posted by Brezon95 View PostHello all.
