• Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion

Ok now this is worring...
I have an oil leak in my crank case....
Shit,..
Now the oil flow is at about 2 to 4 drops an hour.
I did not over add engine oil and my bore and pistons are fine.
The thing is I have also noticed oil in my air filter box.
There is a tube known as a cranck case breather tube that connects to the air filter box.
And I have checked if it is blocked.... it is not.
I have removed it and seen that the crank case breather pipe has exhaust beats just like my exhaust does and it goes to the air filter box!
Nowni am posting pics. These are not mine but are similar to mine.
Note my oil quantity is lesser.

Now i know that there is a valve inside and maybe that is damaged im not sure. I have heard engine braking causes this,
Any ideas on what could be wrong and what to fix?
Sibun sir, pinaki sir, psr sir. Help please,

Where is the oil leaking from exactly? a bit of oil does pass through the breather now and then, its not a big deal.

Why are you posting pulsar related questions in the hmc splendor thread?

^^:P
Because this thread has the most knowledgeable people and the most helpful too
Plus these issues are common to every bike. And im not speaking about pulsar specific parts. Just wanting to gain basic knowledge...
Have asked a friend to source carb spray.... and ibsaw a camouflage white and black ish bike today... it looked like a hero splendour classic cafe racer but I couldn't click pics while riding my bike... is it a test mule? Had a shorter silencer I think with a huge chrome heat shield.... funny old splendour ish exhaust note too. And was very zippy.... could not keep up in the busy streets of kolkata with a bigger bike....
Obviously in open roads the story would be different.
But the rider was also wearing full black and blue overalls,
I wish I could take a picture

Divyanshp150- When and where did you ride the Joy.

Yes Joy has a stiffer shocks than most bikes and also is heaviest bike in 100 cc with 120 kg kerb weight. Setting the front shocks on Joy is tricky and all cannot do it. As for the oil in filter box, a few drops of oil is ok particularly in summer season. Its because as the air in chamber heats it expands and along with oil vapor is forced into air filter box. When it cools oil droplets form on the box.

But the picture that you have shown indicates that a large amount of oil is leaking thus the bore and rings are gone.

@all- i will be out of this forum for 3-4 days as i am going on election duty. So i will not be able to respond to your query's. So please have patience.Next week there is a surprise waiting for you all as i will post both here and extreme thread with lots of pictures as both bike will be worked upon.

You can get them in almost any of the spare parts store. If this oil is available in Tiruvannamalai, then why not in bangalore city?
I have tried in several stores in JC ROad, Bangalore. But could not find Veedol.
Any one from Bangalore, Could you Pl. answer back where I can buy Veedol in Bangalore.

Hey Divyan bro , no sweat about a little bit oil in the air filter box . It is perfectly normal , and the box has a drain tube at the bottom for that too . If it is bothering you , wipe it off next time you service the air filter . BUT NOW first attend to your family , may god keep them all safe and grant early recovery .

Got these for next time , as far as can see from outside the oil is much lighter than gulf's .

I sourced a can of motul fork oil,,, made my forks very hard
Then I used servo fork oil (it was cheapest and I was out of cash:P)
And voila.... it made my forks not too hard,....not too soft! It was actually good.... and it was lighter too according to the mech......unfortunately 6 months later an oil seal of my left fork went kaput and so I had to redo both forks but again used motul this time..its good as yet....

Motul is 20w i think, which is good for bad roads like mine and suits well for splendor which runs harder shocks, i am personally Gulf fan, be it engine oil or fork oil, i couldn't get Gulf oil for splendor but using Valvoline as substitute which is also hard but removing 7-8ml and pumping shocks made them nice soft and after 1000km or so it will become almost like o.e.

A small factory owner near my house has a joy he makes key stubs ..
Very power 1st gear ....pulled hard.
I think every splendour owner should get a joy gearbox
Why is the pull in 1st gear so different? Later gears are da same as other splendours...?

Motul has both 10W & 20W fork oils , but as we have it shopkeepers here think higher number is better and stock the 20W only . I used gulf's which is also heavier weight and I got a bit slow responding shocks and I don't like . Sibun said veedol and escorts are the correct weight for Splendor , i.e 10W , so I bought these for next change lest I may not find them then .
It also depends a lot on the rider's weight , a heavier guy may do well with a heavier oil in it because of the weight-preload on the shocks . I'm just 60 kilos .

this thread is my favourite and my closest family here,..

Ps:- saw a splendour today someone had made on the road....
Chopper style,,,, long front wheel forks probably from an avenger or an enticer, yankee handle bars and a single long flat seat and 16 inch rear tyre,,... looked good. Tanknwas all same only front end was diffrent and chassis was a little altered in the front, plus the seat and tire change,,,
Why dosent hero come with something like that!
Any bike with that gem engine is bound to sell
