Hi Paul,

I got this Swiss make from Bullet store for Rs 120/ for the headlamp optimization.

Meanwhile I have inquired with RUBY ELECTRICALS, Bangalore reg the upgrade to 55/60W Bulb on a splendor.
He said there are 3 types of Stator plates in 3 pole once in splendors and need to see the stator plate in physical to do an winding/upgrade.
He offered the below for the Bulb upgrade to 55/60W Bulb on a splendor with out any issues with timings etc (Hi Paul, Sibun, Shoeb, Could you Pl. confirm if this true).
1) Coil rewinding & magnet charging (He wanted the magnet too for charging for a day) Rs450/-.
2) A new piece of RR unit for Rs350/-.

I'm in a fix now and have postponed this for a week to hear from Guru's.

Hello anyone knows which reflector does the hf dawn use? It looks so big and clear and awsome:P I want to fit it on my pusar 150 classic.
Also my entire instument cluster is kaput.(full analogue)
I wanted to know is it possible to fit a hf dawn instrument cluster? What is the price? I just want to know the speedo cable to the wheel part...will the wheel need any modifications? Wiring I can do myself its just the mechanical aspects I want to be sure of

So to sum it up
1) price of hf dawn round headlamp and will it fit on a round lamp pulsar....
2) price of a hf dawn instrument cluster.
3) speedo to wheel connection modifications needed.

I am not sure but hf-dawn doesnt have a fuel gauge, previous model didnt have that, also pulsar has a tacho and different color code of wires + connector which might not be compatible with cluster unit of dawn, also you will miss out the tacho, By kaput do you mean is it physically broken or is not working now, i have a big update coming up in some day regarding my splendor's electricals. The headlamp is indeed good but again wiring you need to figure out what goes where as you are combining two different manufacturer's components, rest assured it is not a big deal, just 3 wires, one is supply second is low beam and third is high beam, if you are getting hf dawn headlamp get the connector of lamp too with wires, by that you can easily wire it to pulsar.

Kaput meaning it broke,.,, into smithereens....
I just need a spedo, something to tell me my indicators and low high beam.
First priority is the headlamp. Will fix and update here.

Pulsar old type meters are available for 1300-1400 in shops. Light is not a big deal. I have a habbit of transplanting lights. So I know its pretty easy. Meters would look bad as you are putting an entry level bike's instruments on a premium(old) level bike.

If the upper connector of the speedo cable is same then you do not have any problem connecting the meter.

As said before can't tell and can't advise you to go with that mod because there is not much information available on this. I havnt tried so can't tell. Its completely your decision.
I would be happy to see if u able to achive what u r seeking for...

hf dawn headlight would fit I think. Don't know if meter would fit or not. You can also think about fitting yamaha Fz headlight or else a complete set of digital meter with headlight of a new pulsar...

Ive heard it should be change every year or in two year would be also fine. *depending on the usage.

No, the splendor and Joy both share the same ratio for gearbox. Infact you will be surprised to know that Joy has a taller final ratio than splendors. Splendor has shorter gear ratio than Joy.

But still also Joy pulls better because of the more torque that the engine produce. Joy employs different piston, cams, magnet and timing.

The pull is first gear in Joy is very strong. My bike pulls wheelie and the slightest instant of provocation.

Man, moderator! thats too much for me as i am not qualified high enough to become a moderator. May be [MENTION=29030]Pinaki[/MENTION] sir is qualified for the job but i never stand a chance.

And as for the splendor, i always like the splendor as it is rather than any modification. Splendor has a timeless classic design which always pleases the eye.


As for the regulator i do not know much as [MENTION=6724]Paul[/MENTION] will help you and i was very bad in electronics during my engg. days.

There are two types od stator poles in splendor rather than 3 types. One is for splendor and other for Joy.

Timing will not be affected as splendor uses different coils for CDI charging and also for timing. But they all share common ground. So be sure to keep the ground intact.

The magnet charging is done so that the magnet gains more magnetic flux so that it can pump the coils with more ampere as stock has very less magnetic power.

The new piece of RR unit is specially rectifier unit which will direct the regulator to stop capping at lower ampere and instead allow more current to pass.

The mod is very much ok as he knows his works on what he has to do. Get it done and post the improvements here.

Magnet charging was a concept in Rajdoot days which today has gone. So recharging is still done, will have to enquire with mechanic.



You can very well fit the CD DAWN reflector. One of the best reflectors in market. Get the full Assembly and you will fit it easily. Get from Hero OE both reflector and bulb. If you can get get the extreme Philips germany bulb for Rs.220 for best light output.

I will buy it with the bulb (oem) and fit if ligjting is ok then im happh

My manual says that the fork oil should be changed in 30 thousand kms or once in 2 years. So, i shall change in 30 thousand kms probably!

Also I think road conditions also play a role in how long a suspension would hold good.
Indian roads are world class so we need not worry(pun intended)

Yes, i agree with you. Today when i took my bike out, i saw some considerable amount of engine oil leaked on the floor. So i bent down to see the drain plug. There was a drop of oil which was ready to leak. I tried to screw the drain plug with my fingers and alas!! i was able to rotate it with my fingers without any effort. I made the plug as tight as possible and rode to the mechanic's. He tightened up the plug with a ring spanner. Then i took it home and wiped that area thoroughly. After a couple of hours i went to inspect for oil leaks. Luckily, there was no oil. It was as it when i wiped. Then i checked the engine oil as instructed in the manual. It was ok. The oil level was 2mm below the 'maximum level' of the dip stick. Is it ok? or should i fill oil till the dip stick reaches the 'maximum level' accurately?

@ Paul : I heard that the RR unit given by any of the auto electricals is of " BOM Regulator". Which have seen complaints after a few months of usage. In that case shall I stick to stock Rectifier to charge 4amp's (upgraded from 2.5 amps) maintanance free Exide battery
and fix the Bullet Machismo one to light up AC headlamp. Will this take care of sufficient headlamp output at the lower RPM's too. Pl. suggest.

BTW Any idea of the total output Wattage of Splendor stock regulator. and Bullet Machismo regulator

Off the topic: LML vespa's regulators are also popularly seen for upgrades in some of the old scooters, which come in 2 wattages
1)NV : 96 Wattage.
2) Supremo/T5 is 145Wattage.
