I have a small doubt about it .I hear the tappet must have minimum clearence 0.05 mm ,the specification is Intake:0.08 and Exhaust :0.12mm.
    Is it correct ?

Nice to see members helping each other and also taking keen interest in this often forgotten bike in xbhp.

Since there is no need of me so was not pitching in and silently reading all the posts.

      Updates on my JOY:-

Joy has touched 3.90 lacs kilometers.

Of late bike pull was a little down. Also since dad sometimes ride it the clutch was burnt because of half clutch.

Decided to do a clutch and head job as head was not touched for three years.

Soaked the clutch plate in oil for overnight.

The next day opened the head and valves. The exhaust valve stem was little worn. Changed both the valves.

Saw the piston crown to be little wet. Opened the bore and saw the oil rings to have increased gap. Changed the rings set.

Opened the clutch and fit the clutch plates.

Fitted back everything and started the bike. My friend remarked it sounds like a new bike!.

Rode for a week and set the tappets at 0.03 mm for both valves.

      Tuned the engine.

Now it feels like eating chocolate while riding. So smooth and the pull is so smooth. Have to be careful with clutch as any attention diversion while leaving clutch it justs lifts up the front.

Yes, my bad. I quickly pulled out my 1997 cd100 owner's manual and it's clearly mentioned 0.05mm for both intake and exhaust.

          Hi all,

In my 1987 CD100SS the plug was found to be a mixture of being slightly lean with deposit of soot.

It had almost white tip on centre electrode.

On the peripheral area of the plug, there was deposit of soot (most of it being easily removable).

The bike misfires when accelerator is decreased all of a sudden while cruising around 50kph.

Please suggest methods/ ways for better performance.

Sir, is your joy motorcycle 15 years old? It's terrifically maintained.😭👨*👨*👦👍✌. What is the procedure for getting vehicle re registered? It would be insightful to hear from you. I was 5 years old when joy was launched. Now I'm 21😃.

There is a small error .05 mm is the specification of intake and exhaust for splender,cd 100 ,etc.
The 0.08mm and 0.12 mm is specification of hunk, cbz, unicorn etc bikes.
              Splendor plus manuel specification.

Thanks a lot bro. My dad had 1993 cd 100 ss. He used it till 2005 Then he moved on to splendor plus, used it for about 5 years & moved to passion pro in 2010. He passed away in December 2011. I'm currently using activa 125. But old childhood memories make oneself smile.

                                Brezone Jee,

When you start to ride with new oil, then it will be start to black and stick. It become not efficient for lubrication after a long period running .This period is depend on the type of engine oil, grade ,manufacture. Commonly the mineral oils become start not able to function after 1500-2000 km . The blend(semi-synthetic) oil and synthetic oil has more drain interwell.
We cannot specify the correct time of drain inter well. The sticky oil may cause to starting problems in cold ,just like the higher grade oil.

we can inspect the engine oil by its smell, thickness and color.
